“ Brand: Lee Stafford / Hair protection / Type: Hair protection / Subcategory: Oil / Spray / Product line: Lee Stafford Argan Oil „
Although this was more expensive than my usual heat protection spray, I decided to try it because it promised the smoothest, silkiest, healthiest hair yet. Big mistake!!!.... it failed to deliver on all counts.
The first thing I noticed was the awful smell - it is like cheap hairspray and very strong. The product also felt quite sticky.
Instead of helping the straighteners to glide more easily through the hair as you would expect with this type of product, it actually made it more difficult to straighten my hair. Afterwards, my hair was neither smooth nor silky as it usually is after straightening. Worst of all, the bottom two inches or so of my hair felt very dry. I hoped that this was caused by a residue of product on my hair, but after washing and conditioning my hair again I found that it is still very dry... this product has actually damaged my hair!!
I would advise anyone to AVOID THIS PRODUCT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!
I have been using lots of Lee Stafford products recently, mainly the ones with added Morrocan Argan oil. I purchased this as part of a 3 for 2 offer with other Lee Stafford products in Boots. This is a heat defence spray, and costs £12.99 for 200ml.
To use this heat defence spray, you just spray it on your hair, I usually do it about 30cms away from my head to get a good fine mist over my hair. The bottle says use at arms length, but I feel this is a bit too far away to get a good coating of this on my hair. The product does come out of the bottle when you spray it very fast but it is easy to work with once you are used to this. You can do it when it is wet or dry. I usually do it whilst my hair is wet, before I blow dry it. You should split your hair into sections, to make sure you cover all of your hair, especially underneath which often gets missed, so it is all protected from the heat of your hair dryer/straighteners or curling tongs. It only takes a minute to cover your whole head, even if you have long hair, as it sprays out of the bottle so quick, and you only really need one or two sprays on each section of your hair. I usually brush it through too, or just massage my hair a bit with my hands.
The bottle says to towel dry your hair first before applying this product, but it works just as well on my hair when I don't towel dry it. Also when you straighten your hair, you should re apply this heat defence spray to your hair to protect it again, even if you have applied it before blow drying your hair.
I have used so many heat defence sprays over the years, and this is definitely one of the nicest I have used. It does not leave your hair greasy or heavy when you dry it, you cannot feel the product in your hair, but it does leave your hair really smooth and soft. Even spraying it into your hair dry, it doesn't stick to your hair too much and leave it feeling like it has a product in it, it is invisible, and my hair feels so much smoother when brushing it and styling it. I have really noticed that I have less split ends and dry hair too, so I am sure it is doing it's job at protecting my hair from heat appliances.
This heat defence spray smells beautiful, although gets a little bit too much, the more you spray, but I only use a little, if you have long hair and need to spray a lot, I would imagine the smell could be a bit much, it is very strong, but still really nice. My boyfriend always says he can smell me when I use this spray!
Even though this spray is expensive, you do get a lot for your money, I have half a bottle left, and have been using it for 3 months, although not every day. I would only buy it in the 3 for 2 offers though, it is expensive at nearly £13 a bottle, but it does everything I would want it to do. It protects my hair from heat damage, leaves my hair soft and smooth, it lasts ages and I would definitely recommend it!
