Lee Stafford Blinding Brunette Shampoo
I have tried a few of the lee stafford pink range products, such as the poker straight shampoo/conditioner, the climate control spray and the hair growth mask and I am happy with those products and the scent is really nice, so I thought I would try this product as it was on a 3 for 2 offer at boots a few weeks ago.
- Lee Stafford description
"Brunette hair looks blinding when it's at its optimum health, but washing and styling hair strips the life out of your colour, leaving your brunette hair looking desperately dull." "For ultimate protection it also contains 21st century colour protection to help stop colour fade caused by styling, sunlight and the damage caused by UV". Lee Stafford uk site
- About the product
The shampoo comes in a clear squeezy tube and it contains 250ml or 8.4 fl oz of shampoo. The container has quite a lot of information on about the product and it is a clear bottle so you can see how much shampoo you have left. The shampoo does contain a couple of natural ingredients such as: moringa seed extract and walnut leaf extract. This product is only for brunettes (natural and coloured) as on the Lee Stafford site is says "This is a toning shampoo which may temporarily discolour lighter coloured blonde hair".
- Appearance and the scent of the shampoo
The shampoo itself is a very dark brown colour in the bottle as it is a brunette shampoo and the dark colour is supposed to act as a toner. The scent of the shampoo is really nice in my opinion, the scent is quite sweet, musky and floral at the same time - if you have ever used any of the lee stafford 'Pink' range of hair care products or the 'pink' perfume then you will know what this smells like as it is very similar. I do like the scent but I would have preferred the scent to be lighter as it is a little bit overpowering when using the shampoo.
- Using the shampoo and results
From the first use of this shampoo I knew I was going to be disappointed by it, as I hate shampoos that do not lather up. This shampoo does smell nice when I am using it and it has a nice smooth texture but as I try to massage the shampoo into my hair it does not lather up at all - there are only a very minute amount of bubbles, which I don't like. The shampoo is easy to apply, apart from the complete lack of lather and while I apply this shampoo it feels really moisturising on my hair, which was a bit surprising as the shampoo hadn't performed well at all so far. While using this shampoo the once dark brown shampoo in the bottle has now turned into a blood red shampoo that makes my shower look like someone has been murdered in it! Then while the shampoo rinses away it turns into a bright orange colour. Apart from the blood red colour of the shampoo and lack of lather, it actually makes my hair feel really moisturised, smooth and tangle free as I rinse out my hair - so I do not need to use as much conditioner. This smooth, moisturising effect of the shampoo lasts even when my hair is dried - it is mostly tangle free too. Overall, I like the way this shampoo makes my hair feel - moisturised and smooth - but I hate the application of this shampoo, as it does not lather and also I find that it does not do anything to the colour of my natural brunette hair, which is the main selling point of the shampoo!
- Price and availability
I bought this shampoo weeks ago when it was part of the three for two on Lee Stafford hair care products - this was the cheapest product out of the three that I bought as it was free with the offer. This shampoo can be bought from boots/boots.com for about £5 or so.
*Ok packaging and it has a fairly nice scent but some people may not like the scent
*Leaves my hair moisturised, smooth and mostly tangle free
*Does not lather up at all!
*A tiny bit pricey but one bottle has lasted me about three weeks/one month
*Does not do anything to the colour of my hair - which is the main selling point of the shampoo
