Going somewhere nice overnight is a nerve racking experience I always think! That's what happened to me last week. I was going away with my new bf as he was taking me to see a show and have a meal and stuff. Me? I can be right disorganised and I don't travel light. However my trip involved going via train to meet him and I didn't want to have cart loads of stuff with me on buses and trains to get there. I wanted to look together! So I had one bag. Packing was a nightmare. Needed an evening get up and clothes for following day and my hair straighteners and all sorts! The one thing that was taking up far too much room in my bag was cosmetics and toiletries! I had bottle of this that and the other. Not only was it a question of room it was one of weight. I grabbed my bag and it almost pulled me right over. Thank god I did this the day before because it gave me inspiration to go to Boot's!

I was lucky in one way. I had loads of mini products already. I have everything soap & glory has all in a bag mini size and that's what made me think oh you can look right la-de-da if you go get mini toothpaste, sponge shampoo and conditioner etc. If they come in pink all the better to match the bag lol

I am a huge fan of Lee Stafford and have written reviews on almost all the products he has on offer. I have tried the babe wave shampoo (see review) but I wanted something for straight hair as that was how I wanted my hair to look.

I really struggle with getting straight hair. Well that's a lie. No I don't really the issue is getting it to stay straight. After a couple of hours my straight locks turn to frizz particularly my ends. I can sort alot of my hair issues out with the help of Mr Stafford and 220c hair straighteners but when I saw poker Straight Mini Shampoo I though oh maybe this will help.

I have tried many shampoos and conditioners promising me many things and mostly, well they fall flat don't they? I mean ones that promise shine yes I find on the whole to work but ones that promise me an afro or straight hair, no they are usually are rubbish. So although I hoped this shampoo would would I didn't think it would I chose it as it was pink first and foremost and then cos of the smell (I'm addicted to it) and then because buy 2 bottles get another bottle of a mini Stafford get one free and that was a good deal for me cos I wanted the shampoo, conditioner and the flat iron protection shine mist (I use every day in the large size anyway and knew I was going to have to take it till I saw this small).

The Packaging...

Comes in 2 sizes. The large size is and £4.59 and mini (which is what I own) is 75ml. They both look the same in every way its only the size that is different and the price of course! The mini is £1.75 a bottle and as I mentioned earlier buy 2 of any mini from Lee Stafford get cheapest free. It isn't really an economical way to buy but perfect for sampling products without wasting a load of cash and great for travelling as they are dinky. I've had about 20 washes out of my bottle and that's shampooing and rinsing twice! Economical yes it is really, even more so when I purchase the big bottle!

So the bottle is in dark pink plastic with dark pink clear screw on/off lid. On the front white writing tells me it is indeed lee Stafford Poker Straight Shampoo, with extra mega quat! to silken soften and shine your first step to poker straight hair (exactly as written and not me not using a spell checker lol). I'm also told my size (in my case 75ml) and there is a bar code on front as well. On the back I'm told how to use it and to 'have fun, look wicked, smell beautiful'. I'm then given list of ingredients and contact details for Quantum Beauty Company LTD (the manufacturers of Lee Stafford products and the recyclable symbol is on there too. All in all nice girly packaging.

Using It.....

Well firstly the smell is very apparent. As all of Lees products are in my view, gorgeous smelling and so much so he has brought the same fragrance out in a perfume and body spray as what we use on our hair! It's deep, floral and oriental with a real hint of sweetness that at the same time as being a deeply layered smell still remains light and feminine. It's simply lovely.

Size wise, a small blob on the hair of the clear gel like formula is enough for me and my hair is just past shoulder length. Along with the lovely aroma comes lots of thick white bubbles. It lathers up very quickly indeed.

Now I find alot of shampoos as I'm washing make my hair squeaky which makes me think it is draining the moisture out of my hair. Some even make hair feel grubby and knotty and I rely on conditioner to put it right which sometimes it does and sometimes it simply doesn't. This however makes any knots I already have in my hair drop out, it spreads easy and makes my hair feel smoother just during the application.

Rinsing it out is easy as well. Even if you use loads by mistake or because you want to it really doesn't take long at all. Now I like to wash my hair, rinse and repeat and so I do it with this one as well really just to make sure my hair is spotless and with this one in particular just to make my hair smell especially nice!

Now I always finish washing my hair with conditioner and in this case I do use the corresponding conditioner but if for any reason you didn't want to use conditioner I feel you wouldn't have to. My hair after using this feels very soft, silky and impeccably clean more to the point. I can run my hands through my hair before applying the conditioner and no knots just as I said, soft hair.

This doesn't work by weighing the hair down and in my view it is suitable for any hair type. Of course you don't have to use the matching conditioner if you don't want to for any reason and I haven't on a couple of occasions when I opted for an intensive conditioner and either method gives same results, excellent.

Overall Verdict...

I'm totally sold on this and never thought I would be. I've been struggling to get my hair and make it stay straight for ages now and I'm sure now that by using these products I have finally found the cure to unruly hair. This is a great base to straight hair and after using this and the conditioner and then using other Lee Stafford products I really do have 'Poker Straight Hair'. Just using other Lee Stafford products isn't enough for me but with the shampoo and conditioner also it really is and for me now this product is enough!

Summary: A superb start to really achieve straight, frizz free hair!

I've been using this (the full size lol) for about a year, with the treatment and the conditioner. When I first used it I didnt like it, then fell in love with it, now I'm not too sure again. I have so much hair and it just doesnt go flat any more, not sure if thats because my layers r growing out tho so Im perservering but may give in and go back to Mark Hill or Toni & Guy for another try. xx
