Advantages: Pretty packaging and works really well
Disadvantages: Expensive
I am not a person who likes to invest unnecessary effort in my hair, and so when I heard of dry shampoo I was excited. Normally once I've washed my hair, it will look good for the rest of the day and look OK by the day afterwards, but on the next day it will be looking a bit greasy, dull, lank and lacklustre. Dry shampoo seemed like a good way to make my hair wash last one more day.
I chose to buy Lee Stafford Dry Shampoo for Oily Roots because it was recommended in a magazine as a good dry shampoo, and I am easily swayed by things like Glamour or Cosmo recommendations!
The shampoo looks lovely. The version I have is a little 150 ml bottle (the biggest size it comes in) which easily fits into my large handbag. It is a very pretty metallic pink colour with white writing on it, and a little clear plastic lid over the aerosol.
The shampoo bottle say that it will 'get more days from your blow dry between washes', and that 'it refreshes, it revitalises, it's CLEAN hair again baby!'. The directions state that you should 'spray from about 16 cm onto the root area that needs revitalising, then vigorously rub away the powder with your fingers'.
When you first spray the shampoo onto your hair it is like a grey, light powder coating. It makes the hair look dull and powdery. However you just need to muss your hair up with your fingers, tousle it a bit and it will absorb all the grease on your roots and will disappear. Afterwards my hair looks cleaner, lighter, and has more volume. It's a great solution. I don't advise using it more than once without washing in between though, as if it starts to build up in the hair it doesn't look so good.
The only drawback to this shampoo is the price. A tiny 50 ml bottle will cost £1.75 from Boots, and a 150 ml bottle costs £4.88. Batiste dry shampoo can be bought for £2.07 for 150 ml which is a big difference, so I may try that next time and see if it's as good.
Summary: The lazy girl's best friend
