Advantages: Cute Pink Bottle ~ Value for Money ~ Easy to use

Disadvantages: The Smell is far too fusty

Whats this then?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is heat protection for us straightening addicts out there. Straightening hair on a regular basis (which often happens as part of the quest for poker straight hair) is ultimately majorly bad for the health of our locks. All the moisture is zapped out of it in one swift downward squeeze of the straighteners.
Granted your locks will be straight but does this sound familiar to you?
- Split ends
- Dull lacklustre appearance with virtually no shine whatsoever
- Hair breaking easily and coming out when you brush it
- A white tip at the end of your follicles (ugh...... gross, but inspect your hair closely. ah yes, there it is! help)
Lee Stafford, a top hair stylist and hairdresser who has become quite a celebrity in his own right, has capitalised on this problem that most of us have and aims to come to our rescue with the answer.
The (somewhat tediously named) Flat Iron Protection Shine Mist is part of a range of award winning care products he has brought out with the sole intention of protecting heat damaged hair. Containing Green Tea extract it helps to to protect the hair from environmental and heat damage. Green Tea is an anti-oxidant so it reduces 'free radical formation' according to the blurn on the bottle. It all sounds good, right?
How much is it and is it worth it?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For a 200ml bottle it is priced at £4.99. Working out at aprox £2.40 per 100 ml. This is around the going rate of decent hair products for sale at the moment. Many women are prepared to pay anything (within reason) to maintain healthy hair.

I have had my bottle for approximately 4 months, I straighten my hair about twice a week and i have used about a third of the bottle size. In my book, this is fair enough!

Whats it look like? Is it practical?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is where Paul Mitchell has played a real good card in the hairstyling stakes. The product range and the product in question, are designed so they jump off the shelves at you in any chemist/retailer you buy from.
The bottle is a bright hot pink colour. It is also transparent, which is great for seeing how much you have got left. It is so girly, cute, kitsch-y. As soon as i saw it i *had* to buy it. It has stark bright writing on with the Lee Stafford Logo, Details and a barcode on the front too. Its has a white pump at the top with a clear top on. It is simple to use. Just spray it!
Whats it smell like?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ugh.. This is the only downside i have found to this product. The smell. The rancid stench it produces. For Ciao purposes i am now spraying the spray into the air infront of me and shall provide you with what it smells like.

It reminds me of a concoction of sweaty nightclubs gone 2am in the morning, the smell of vodka and coke for some obscure reason and then a pile of old grannies pants thrown in for extra measure. I have to open the window. Its too much, it really is.

How do i go on about using it then?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
<stops wafting the smell out of the window>
Right to use the spray doesnt take much doing.
Firstly wash your hair as you normally would. Afterwards quickly towel dry your hair, not so that its dripping wet still and not so its bone dry. A happy medium.
Then you spray from arms length onto your hair before you continue to blow dry it.
Once the hair is blown dry. Separate the hair into sections with clips and before you use the irons spray again from arms length lightly and start using your straighteners.
Afterwards your hair should be poker straight, glistening with an added shine and protected from the heat you have just used on it and any environmental damage it may have incurred.
The staying power of the spray is often all day after useage. I usually straighten my hair before a night out and it looks the same when i come home as it did before i set off.
How does your hair feel after using it?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When i first started using this i applied far too much and it felt sticky and v cardboardy afterwards. I asked my hairdresser about this and she said i was applying too much. Now i just use about 1 spray per section of hair and my hair feels sleeker and softer. It is ultra shiny and glowing after. It makes me feel special :D

Anything i should be careful about?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes! Avoid contact with the eyes, face and any broken or irrated skin. If you do happen to do this, wash with water and if irratation persists get medical attention ASAP.
This is flammable too so dont stick you hair near any matches/naked flames after or urm, you wont have any hair anymore.
Where is this available?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I got mine from Boots the chemists which is on many high streets around the UK. There is often 2 for the price of 3 offers to take advantage off there too. Other stockists include Supermarkets such as Asda, Tesco, Morrisons etc and chemists and selected hairdressers. It is easy to get hold of.

My Overall Verdict!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is one of my essential must have hair products. Im an absolute straightening queen, and get into a flap if i dont see this on my shelf. As soon as it runs out im down to boots faster than a whippet. Looking past the smell (which by the way my mum has just walked in and commented about!!!!!!!) it does the job in hand. My hair has been in better condition since i started using this and i would recommend it to anyone who uses heat appliances on their hair.
Alongside getting a regular cut to get rid of split ends and using intensive conditioners to add moisture, this is a must have. Plus its oh so girly and appeals to the fluffy side of me within.
Ahhh go on get some!
