I colour my regularly and am always looking for products which will maintain my colour for longer as this shade of red I currently dye my hair tends to fade a light orange colour within about three weeks! I found this Louise Galvin Pure Shine Conditioner when browsing my local Tesco's premium beauty section. The conditioner normally retails at £8.95 for 300ml but it had been reduced down to £3.95 so, as this product was designed by a leading colourist for coloured hair I thought I'd give it a try whilst it was cheap(ish). The conditioner contains no artificial fragrances, silicones or parabens. It is cruelty free and environmentally friendly. This is a natural product which is kind to coloured hair and attempts to maintain your colour whilst adding a nice shine to your hair. Sounds pretty good! The conditioner comes in a rectangular plastic bottle and uses a pump nozzle to dispense the product. Actually the bottle looks more than a hand wash than a conditioner in my opinion but it is still very nice looking. The black bottle contains the name of the product as well as description in white font at the front whilst the back shows us a picture of Louise Galvin, a little about her, an ingredients list and directions to apply. The conditioner is white in colour and smells lovely. The matching shampoo to this, as I mentioned in my review, has a very Jaffa Cake type scent to it. This one sticks to that orange smell but is a much more fruity, real orange scent which smells just like the real thing really. It's really lovely and adore smelling this whilst I let the conditioner sit on my head. The pump nozzle dispenses very little conditioner. I have quite fine hair which is just past my shoulders and find I really don't need to use much of anything I put on my hair. I still find myself pressing down on this nozzle about ten times to dispense enough conditioner for me though. Although I'm not using anymore than I normally would because I'm pumping so much I always feel like I'm using loads! Still, I've been using this for about a fortnight now and I've still got more than half the bottle left so it's relatively long lasting. I've been using this in conjunction with the matching shampoo and have to say I'm very pleased with the results it gives. The conditioner makes my hair beautifully soft and completely tangle free. I tend to sleep with my hair up because I move about so much in my sleep that if it is left down I wake up with dreadlocks forming, it really is ridiculous how knotty and tangled my hair gets overnight! Using this conditioner does make the hair more manageable though. When I've slept with it down I've still had the knots and tangled bits but brushing them out is pretty much fuss and pain free if I've used this conditioner the night before. It adds that shine which is promised too and my hair has never looked dull whilst I've been using this. Best of all it does work as a colour protecting product! Using this conditioner as well as the shampoo has allowed my hair colour to stay more vibrant for longer. I would normally be looking into dying my hair again by now because the colour would be fading to orange but this isn't the case. Whilst my colour has faded slightly it hasn't anywhere near as much as it normally does in this space of time and doesn't look anywhere near ready for a recolour yet! Just to top off all of these wonderful results that orange scent really lingers in my hair for a couple of hours too! I really love this conditioner. If I could afford to pay the £8.95 asking price for this everywhere else it is sold (which is pretty much John Lewis) on a regular basis I would definitely be using this all of the time. Unfortunately I can't but I'll be keeping this mind for when I've got a bit of spare cash and hopefully I'll be able to use this again at some point. If I ever find it for £3.95 again I'll definitely stock up! It's worth the money just for the fact it actually works at protecting my colour!
