Advantages: Long Lasting Effects, Smell, Simple Packaging, Good Value For Money
Disadvantages: ummmmmm
I tend to use whatever shampoo/conditioner Aimee keeps in the bathroom cupboard, she frantically swings from Herbal Essences (which smell horrible, like waxy, fake flowers) to Pantene Pro V (a definite improvement) so I wasn't really surprised when I found this bottle of yellow liquid staring up at me from the bath. I looked at the bottle, made by Lush, (Aimee has spent numerous hours telling me the company's virtues, but the shops smell fugly so I have stayed quite clear) with a rather enticing name American Cream and a nice yellow color so without too much trepidation I got in the shower, washed my hair with a new (Lush) shampoo (I Love Juicy) and lathered up. I took off the top and took a big inhalation, American Cream has one of the most luxurious, tempting, sweet fragrances that has ever graced my nostrils, it smells just like a milkshake with strong hints of sweet vanilla and very subtle edges of sage. The scent manages to be both clarifying and warming and leaves your hair smelling very clean (which is good as I don't want to go around smelling like a cocktail! so I find it an advantage for the scent to disappear.) The heady scent seemed to waft through the house making my cold flat smell warm and cozy and I could smell it in the bathroom, hours after I used it, which is nice.
The conditioners consistency is much like all conditioners, except perhaps a bit thicker, it has a pale yellow color and feels silky smooth to touch. I only needed to use a small amount to do my whole head, instantly after applying it, I felt the hydrating effect it was having on my extremely dry mane and as I slowly massaged it into my scalp I felt the detangling effect it was having on me, it whips up into a silky, ultra light foam that washes out easily in a stream of vanilla infusion. After drying, my hair felt really soft and silky, there was a definite shine to my hair and I could easily run my fingers through it without pulling half of the strands out and Aimee (the blushing bride) said that she saw a complete difference (she actually got quite excited!). The next day my hair still felt lightly hydrated, revitalized and fortified with a lightness that I had only heard about on adverts, I had my assistant comment on the state of my hair and it stayed the same all day. After using it four or five times now I have noticed a definite, lasting improvement in the state of my hair, it is stronger than ever before and stays very soft. I am also really impressed with the value for money, truly only a small amount is needed to condition a whole head of hair, because of its consistency, our small bottle (100g) has lasted a month between two of us. As someone who has never really taken an interest in cosmetics or hair care I decided to actually look at the label and read …
'Extra Added Bonus, Dress up your messed-up hair with a sexy vanilla cocktail whip' Sexy wasn't a word that instantly sprang into my mind, whilst smelling this, but looking back, I suppose it is a sexy fragrance. Aimee has spent many evening telling me about Lush and their dedication to the environment, and there beliefs in using natural ingredients for cosmetics. The ingredient list for American Cream is pretty impressive, Honey Water, Vanilla Pod Infusion, Fresh Oranges, Fresh Strawberries, Vanilla Absolute and Lavender Oil are just some of the natural ingredients in this conditioner, I do like the idea of using natural ingredients in place of chemicals whenever possible and find Lush's simple packaging to be appealing, so would defiantly use Lush hair care again if Aimee buys any products.
Overall I have been really impressed with Lush's American Cream; it has a lovely scent, many natural ingredients and impressive, lasting effects.
