Advantages: smelss absolutly gorgeous, leaves hair soft with a great healthy shine
Disadvantages: its not cheap!
Its been a while since I have written a Lush review. As I used Daddyo to wash my hair tonight, I thought it would be a perfect weay to start writing my Lush reviews again.
Lush are a company who make fresh handmade products, they are very ethical and have become increasingly popular.
Each of the products Lush produce have ingridiants which serve a purpose, each product has a target skin type or hair type etc...
I have to say though, I rarely pay attention to whether a product is designed with my skin or hair type in mind, unless I have a particular problem, for example I get very dry skin and my skin is sensetive and the Lush staff suggested a great moisturiser which I now swear by. In general though I just want to try it all and I have amassed quite an impressive Lush collection of which I am very very proud!
Daddyo caught my eye because of its deep purple colour which has a hint of metalic about it, I was intrigued and had to open the bottle for a sniff and that was it, one sniff and I just had to have a bottle - Parma violets!!!!!
That smell brought back memories too because the first few times I dyed my hair in my teens I used a dye that had a parma violet scent to it and I always loved that scent.
As I said, Lush make their products with a specific purpose in mind, in the case of daddyo Lush invented a shampoo for those with grey or blonde hair ( my hair is brown naturally and I currently have some of the Lush caca rouge dye in it, so this shampoo isnt really intended for my hair type but I had to have it ), the shampoo brightens blonde and grey hair according to Lush.
The bottle is quite plain looking, it is a clear bottle with a black flip up lid, a black label is around the bottle and this has the Lush logo on it along with @Daddyo' in bigger letters. There is then some information on the front of the bottle about the product and its intended users, around the side of the bottle is the ingridiants list and there is also a little sticker with a picture of the person who made that particular bottle of Daddyo and the date on which it was made along with the use by date.
Daddyo comes in 3 sizes, 100ml costs £4.06, 250ml costs £8.07, 500ml costs £12.97, so this, like all Lush products is not a cheap option.
When I washed my hair with Daddyo I found that it did not bubble up and lather as much as some shampoos I have used, however as a regular Lush user I know that their products do not tend to get all bubbly, but still do a super job, and daddyo was no different.
Usually washing my hair is just something I have to do, but I really enjoyed washing my hair whilst using daddyo, the viloet scent was strong but not over powering and the shampoo did a wonderful job of not only cleaning but also softening my hair. In addition I was pleased to find that my hair which is curly and sometimes frizzy and gets lots of knots, was really easy to brush through, I often use a detangler and I found that washing my hair with Daddyo had a very similar effect to my detangler.
Daddyo does not have conditioner in it, however I felt no need to use a seperate conditioner after washing my hair, which is very rare as I use a lot of conditioner. I was really glad that I did not need a conditioner, because I really hate it when I use a shampoo which smells really nice and then I have to use a conditioner which then masks the scent from the shampoo and leaves its own scent on my hair - sometimes I wonder what the point is in scented shampoo when you usually go over it with a conditioner.
I was really impressed with how long the violet scent lingered on my hair, over 48 hours after using Daddyo, I asked my partner to sniff my hair and he said he could still smell it, and I noticed that my pillow had violet scent on it too!
Those of you who are Lush fans will know that Lush sometimes take the scent from a popular product and release other products with that scent, and they also turn some scents into perfumes, I really hope they decide to do that with Daddyo - I know they have Bathos which has violet in in, but Daddyo is a parma violet scent and is absolutly gorgeous, I would love to have it as a perfume.
Daddyo also contains bergomot and Rose however I cant relly smell those in the product. In addition it contains lemon and lime to help give the hair shine.
I love this product and I will definitely be buying more when my bottle runs out!
Summary: a great shampoo
