Advantages: Works really well, my hair stays clean and sexy all day
Disadvantages: Price - more expensive than other brands, though it does last a long time.
I've loved lush ever since the store opened in Newcastle a couple of years ago, and even though I don't buy very much from there, I often go in just to smell everything. However a couple of weeks ago I was going down south with my boyfriend to stay with his grandma, and so needed to take some bath stuff with me. Of course, my first stop was lush, where I bought a stack of 3 different flavoured soaps, and this Godiva shampoo bar.
*Lush Shampoo Bars*
This is one of the 10 shampoo bars that lush sell (according to the website), although I know that in my local lush shop you can't buy all of these. The ones they do are godiva, hard shampoo bar, hybrid, jumping juniper, karma komba bar, new hair, seanik, soak and float, soft shampoo bar, and ultimate shine. They are all different colours and scents, and are for different types of hair, for example jumping juniper is for greasy hair. Like all lush products, these shampoo bars are made from natural ingredients. They are all the same size and shape: a fairly flat yet round bar that would easily fit in your palm. If you would like to see a picture they're all on the lush website, or you can go and look at them in store.
*Why I picked this bar*
It took me a few minutes to decide which of the bars to pick, but I eventually settled on the bar for a number of reasons. First of all, it didn't specify that it was for dry, normal or greasy hair, and so I assumed that it didn't matter which. I had tried jumping juniper before, which is for greasy hair, and although it worked quite well, after a while my hair started getting greasier again, so I decided I should get a different one next time. Also, unlike some of the other bars, this is a shampoo and conditioner in one, and although I've heard that you shouldn't use shampoo and conditioner combinations as they're bad for your hair, the list of ingredients and the fact that it's from lush made me think that it would be great for my hair anyway. Also, the bar has a gorgeous smell of jasmine, and contains visible jamsine flower petals, which I though was a nice touch that made the bar look great.
*Why I love using this bar*
Like I said earlier, this is the second shampoo bar I have used from Lush, and I like using them more than liquid shampoo. I either make a lather with the bar on my hands like I do with soap before applying it to my head and rubbing it into my wet hair, or sometimes I rub it directly onto my hair, then wash off as normal. Although it doesn't make much of a difference to how well the product works, having shampoo in a bar form does make washing your hair slightly more interesting, and definitely looks sexier in the bathroom, which adds to why I like this bar so much.
Also, this shampoo works really well on my hair. I used to have to wash my hair every morning (unless I was staying at home and then I didn't bother), as my hair ends up looking greasy and unsexy by mid-afternoon, and if I wash it the night before it looks bad even by mid morning. However, since using this shampoo my hair has stayed clean throughout the day, even if I've washed it the night before. The fact that it contains conditioner is great too, as my hair is smoother and needs brushing less often than when I just use shampoo without conditioner, but still doesn't make my hair greasy like normal conditioner does.
Finally, I love how this shampoo smells. I washed my hair at 6.30 this morning and although the scent has mainly disappeared off my hair now, it still lingers slightly, and smelt light yet gorgeous until early afternoon. My boyfriend used my shampoo while we were staying at his grandma's house and afterwards his hair smelt fantastic and looked much more smooth and sexy than it normally does, and I couldn't stop touching it I loved it so much. I might even buy him some I love how much his hair looked, smelt and felt after using this.
*Ingredients*
As well you probably know, lush only mainly natural ingredients, and are totally against animal testing. It's always good to buy gorgeous products without feeling guilty :) .
The ingredients in Godiva are: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Cetearyl Alcohol (&) Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate (&) PEG-100 Stearate, Perfume, Hibiscus Extract (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetrimide, Camellia Oil (Camellia japonica), Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Macadamia Nut Oil (Macadamia ternifolia), Coconut Butter (Cocos nucifera), Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum officinale), Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata), Cypress Oil (Cupressus sempervirens), Palmarosa Oil (Cymbopogon martini), Jasmine Flowers (Jasminum officinale), Lanolin, Cocamide DEA, Stearic Acid, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Benzyl Alcohol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.
*Cost*
The price of Godiva from lush.co.uk is £4.75, though I managed to pay slightly less as I got a 10% student discount when I bought it in the shop. I am yet to found a cashback site that offers cashback on products bought from lush, and so I only buy in store because I get discount there anyway, but let me know if you find a site that offers cashback on them.
*Conclusion*
This shampoo has been great for me and I will probably buy it again when this one runs out, but I might try a different lush bar incase I find an even better one. I would recommend this to anyone as it works on all hair types, and leaves it smelling gorgeous, though the scent is faint and isn't overpowering.
Summary: Solid Shampoo bar from Lush
