Advantages: it's all natural (so is algae!), cheap!

Disadvantages: it smells VERY, VERY BAD, looks like a horrid mess

Yuck. Nasty. Gross. Ewwwww. I don't know how many ways I can say it, but Lush "Les Cacas" hair henna is just so very disgusting. What amazes me is that I actually managed to stand having THAT on my head for an entire hour. The silly things we women do in the name of beauty!

The henna looks like pond scum. It smells not much better. It is also a pain to use. You have to break off chucks from the solid block, mix with boiling water and then prepare it using a bain marie (hot water bath for you non-cooks.) Then comes the torture of having gritty, smelly, sewage-like paste on your head for an entire hour. They don't call it caca for nothing!

And the results? Not worth so much suffering! Perhaps my dark brown hair ended up with a bit more shine, a few more chestnut highlights. Still, I have acheived similar results using Lush Sea Henna, which is a thousand times more pleasant to use.

If you insist on trying this, make sure you follow the directions exactly and do the recommended strand test.

LOL @ the title! Shame it was disappointing. I wasn't very keen on the Lush H'suan Wen Hua either, but I love most other Lush products. I would have liked some more info in your op though.

The directions said you can use it on gray hair, but the results might be more intense, so a strand test is in order.
