“ Brand: Lush / Type: Hair Shampoo „
I received some gift cards for Lush for Christmas so I recently treated myself to some brand new products that I had never tried before instead of buying the things that I normally would. One of these was a bottle of I Love Juicy Shampoo.
I bought it as my hair was feeling as though it was in need of a good detox after all the products that I had put on it over Christmas and it was just feeling a bit heavy and lifeless and this shampoo promised to deep clean my hair and remove any leftover residue from the products that I had been using.
The shampoo is fruit based and contains loads of fruit enzymes and seaweed to break up products that are sticking to hair and not being removed with normal shampoos.
I have to say as a deep cleansing shampoo it is amazing but you do need to be careful not to use it too often otherwise it might be too harsh for your hair.
The shampoo also smells divine and smells really fruity and tropical and leaves my hair smelling fresh for hours afterwards.
It lathers up amazingly well too and you really only need a tiny amount massaged in to hair to give it a through cleansing. Lush says that you only need to shampoo hair once and this is something that I would reiterate.
I was surprised with just how well this actually cleaned my hair after one wash and it was left feeling ultra clean and any product build up that was in my hair was completely gone once I had used it.
Unfortunately because it is so good at getting rid of anything in your hair it also tends to be a little harsh if you use it too often. I find that using this once or twice a week is more than enough to get my hair completely clean but when I first got it and was using it everyday I noticed that after a few days it was stripping the moisture out of my hair and also the hair dye that I use was becoming less intense and more dull.
Switching back to only using it once a week or whenever I felt that my hair needed an extra clean made a big difference and using it like this I would highly recommend the shampoo. It is fantastic as deep cleansing hair and leaving it fresh and smelling amazing. It isn't a daily shampoo by any means but for people like me who use a lot of products in their hair this helps to completely remove them all and stop my hair from becoming heavy from having too much build up in it.
The shampoo comes in three different sizes with prices to reflect this. I bought the smallest size which is £4.95 for 100g but it also comes in 250g and 500g bottles costing £9.95 and £15.95. I have found that the smallest bottle is actually going to last me for ages because you only need so little and because of the fact that you only need to use it once a week on average. As long as you buy this knowing that it is a deep cleansing shampoo and not a daily one then I think that you will really like it and appreciate its cleaning qualities.
I'm afraid I am the owner of a head of hair which gets greasy very quickly, no matter how much I try not to touch it, style it or put products in it I still find myself having to wash it every other day. In a bid to try and reduce this as much as possible I decided to try Lush's 'I love Juicy' shampoo, a shampoo that Lush states is for hair that needs a 'jolly good wash'.
The shampoo is available in three sizes 100g (£4.95), 250g (£9.95) and 500g (£15.95). There's no hding the fact that this isn't a cheap hair product, it's rather expensive for the amount you get. The shampoo comes in a standard plastic bottle with a black flip top lid. The bottle isn't the greatest I've ever used, and can be a little stiff to squeeze, but isn't particularly problematic.
The shampoo contains a selection of citrus and fruit ingredients, including juice from mangos, pineapples, kiwis and papayas, and is designed to give your hair a thorough clean and get rid of any grease and dirt that may not be fully removed by a milder shampoo. It's great if you use a lot of styling products between washes, especially ones that build up in your hair. It does have a strong scent, but it's not unpleasant nor overpowering just fresh and fruity.
I use the same amount of this shampoo as I would any other, I do however alternate it with other shampoos to give my hair the benefit of different products, to prevent product build up and to ease my bank balance! I use this product once or twice a week, and find that a 250g bottle can last me a few months this way. I take a teaspoon sized amount and massage it thoroughly through my hair, concentrating on my roots where it is most likely to be greasy. The scent is pleasant on my hair, and the consistency is nothing out of the ordinary. It doesn't lather up as much as 'mainstream' shampoos, but still lathers enough to distribute it throughout your hair easily. After thorough massaging in I then rinse thoroughly and condition after.
My hair feels extremely clean after using this, and does feel like any grease or products have been well stripped out - which could potentially be a problem for people with coloured hair, I personally wouldn't use it then as the high citrus content is bound to have an effect on your colour.
Ingredients: Water, Sodium Alkyl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulphate, Cocamide MEA, Propylene Glycol, Perfume, Lemon Oil, Freshly Juiced Papaya, Fine Sea Salt, Carrageenan Extract, Sweet Orange Oil, Fresh Pineapple Juice, Fresh Kiwi Juice, Fresh Mango Juice, *Citral, *Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
*occurs naturally in essential oils
This shampoo is suitable for use by Vegans and can be purchased only directly from Lush (shop/online/mail order).
I would recommend this shampoo for a deep clean, but would refrain from using it daily unless you really need to. I would steer clear if you have coloured hair too. A good product from Lush, albeit a very pricey one!
In my bid to try every product that Lush make, I ventured to purchase the I Love Juicy Shampoo when I made an order recently. This shampoo, like the other liquid shampoos Lush make, is available in a 100g size costing £4.75, a 250g size costing £9.50, and a 500g size which is £15.50. The largest size is the best value for money, but the smaller size is ideal for travel or for trying out a new product, so I decided to go for this one.
Lush describe this shampoo as one which contains "juicy fruits to give you the freshest smoothie hair imaginable". The idea behind it is that it contains live fruit enzymes which help to clear away and dissolve dirt, grease and product build-up. To ensure it is as fresh as possible, fresh fruits are used - mango, pineapple, kiwi and papaya - and these are blended and sieved to mix with lemon oil, sweet orange oil and a base of water for a delicious fragrance.
In order to prevent hair drying out, sea salt and carrageen seaweed extract have been added to the shampoo. It's also worth noting that the shampoo contains sulfates and parabens, in case you prefer to avoid these ingredients. No animal-derived products are included, so the shampoo is suitable for vegans.
The shampoo comes in one of Lush's usual clear plastic bottles (made from recycled and recyclable materials), so it's easy to see the product inside and how much you have left. The shampoo itself is a yellowy-green colour and appears fresh. It smells lovely too - very fruity and tropical, very summery.
Using the shampoo is just like any other, although I need to use a lot less - though it is more expensive than many other shampoos available, it's better value than the price might suggest as I need to use half, or even less than half, the amount I would normally use. It is quite thick and gel-like but lathers up really easily. I always use conditioner when I use shampoo, and apply this after rinsing off the shampoo.
I've used the shampoo on several occasions and overall I've been impressed. My hair feels extremely clean - the shampoo certainly fulfils its claim to cut through dirt and product build-up. My hair no longer looks dull and is not weighed down at all. I'd expected a shampoo designed for oily hair to leave my hair dry, but in fact it looks no less shiny and conditioned than usual. True to the claim, the seaweed and salt makes my hair very soft and it doesn't resemble straw at all.
I have found a couple of negatives with this product, however. One is that the qualities that strip through dirt and grease also seem to strip through my hair colour. This isn't an effect I was hoping for and it's put me off using the shampoo on a regular basis. Also, while it isn't harsh on my hair, the shampoo is quite harsh on my scalp - I've had a bit more dandruff since I've been using this, and my scalp is a bit more itchy.
Overall, this is a good shampoo and I would recommend it for those with oily hair or anyone who just wants to give their hair a good clean. I would buy it again - not for regular use as my scalp and hair dye couldn't stand it, but for occasional use to refresh my hair and strip the grease and excess product from it.
I cannot recommend this highly enough! I bought a bottle after reading a blog review and I have never looked back!
My hair is a bit problematic. Although it's short, it's fairly fine and gets greasy quickly. I also have the problem that with certain brands that are suitable for greasier hair, I have some kind of allergy to.
I went into Lush and bought a bottle of this and used it straight away. The difference was almost immediate! My hair felt cleaner and had some volume to it (bye bye lankness!) and here is no slimey residue.
It also smells absolutely gorgeous.
I have been using it ever since and have now donated my unused shampoos to my Mum as I don't think I'll be going back! I am now looking for a similar conditioner for use maybe once or twice a week.
There was also another benefit for me from swapping shampoo. I have quite bad skin (acne) and in the last 6 months or so my back had regressed to how it was when I was a teenager (I'm now 27). Obviously this was quite upsetting as I thought I'd outgrown at least the back acne.
Since using I Love Juicy, my back has almost totally cleared up. I'm now convinced it was down to using a different product.
The product is quite pricey (starting at £4.45 for a small bottle) BUT it does last a very long time as you only need to use a small amount.
The only other down side is that it can strip hair colour if you have dyed hair. I found that I don't have to wash my hair as much as I once did so it doesn't strip my hair too badly.
First impression you have the same Lush bottle that you find across the entire range which I personally really like it has the black label with white writing and the logo across the top again in the same way that all the bottled products are labelled.
One thing you find on the lush bottles which I really like are the small round stickers which has a drawing of whoever it was which created the product you're buying and also there name written underneath. I just think this adds a nice personal touch to the product and knowing they made it rather than it being massed produce by machine is also reassuring.
I got the biggest bottle available but it comes in 3 different sizes but you will notice you make quite a reasonable saving the more you buy.
100g - £4.75
250g - £9.50
500g - £15.50
Obviously you'll notice looking at the price that it's quite pricey especially if you're comparing to cheaper options you may pick up in the supermarket. But for me there's a number of different reasons I will always pay the extra for Lush products =
Knowing exactly what's in your products as everything they use has a natural source and using the website you can see what's in and even more in-depth information about the individual ingredients.
Here's the ingredients from the Lush site -
Natural ingredients are:
Water, Lemon Oil, Freshly Juiced Papaya, Fine Sea Salt, Carrageenan Extract, Sweet Orange Oil, Fresh Pineapple Juice, Fresh Kiwi Juice, Fresh Mango Juice, *Citral, *Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol,
Sodium Alkyl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulphate, Cocamide MEA, Propylene Glycol, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
All the packaging is recycled and is fully recyclable you can also take in your empty Lush pots and bottle tops and for 5 black pots they will reward you with a face mask which would usually come at a cost of £5.75 (they're amazing as well).
Absolutely no animal testing and all the products are sourced in the most ethical way and Lush employees are actually sent to inspect that everything is living up to the high standards (and rightfully so) that they have set.
Also could be included in here as it is a big plus for me is that a lot of the products including this one are made from completely Vegan ingredients which cannot be said for a huge amount of the other alternatives on the market.
Great quality products everything has been made using fresh ingredients and also natural ingredients meaning it's very good for your skin especially if you can sometimes suffer from irritation with the chemicals in other products.
(the above text is slightly edited as it is relevant across all my Lush reviews)
The colour of the actual shampoo is cloudy yellow obviously most of the colour will come from the crushed up fruits they put inside most notable pineapple as it does resemble pineapple juice in colour.
Smelling it in the bottle you can strongly smell the presence of the pineapple and mango and it smells amazing and fresh so much so that you would think you could drink it as there's no hint of any sort of chemicals like you get with other shampoo.
When you put the shampoo on your hair and lather it up it just releases the strong fruity smell and like much of the Lush products it has that effect of reminding you of summer and for me especially it always makes me feel a bit more cheerful especially with the typically dull UK weather.
Once dried the pineapple smell especially rests really well on your hair I often find if I have a bath or shower late at night the following morning I still have a really good scent of the pineapple.
I know it's not very relevant to how well it works on your hair but something that always gets a comment from the other people living with me is after you've used this the smell hangs around across the whole of my flat for a good while after using it which is never unwelcome.
The shampoo in terms of how much you need to use is fantastic I have hair which is just past shoulder length and loads of it so it takes quite a lot of shampoo to get my whole head covered well however with this shampoo I can use a tiny amount and after just a few scrubs it's foamed up and covered my whole head completely. For a Vegan shampoo especially this is fantastic because I tried the Superdrug Shampoo and Conditioner which uses fruit etc as well and I found that I would need a handful just to get a full cover on my head meaning I would go through a bottle in just over a week.
After drying my hair feels fantastic and clean and like I mentioned earlier it smells fantastic and the smell holds for roughly 24 hours minimum.
Something to consider because Lush don't often have lines of products I would definitely recommend using this in conjunction with Veganese Conditioner and Happy Hippy Shower Gel as they all contain sweet smelling fruits (pineapple, lemon, citrus and grapefruit). I have already reviewed Veganese and Happy Hippy will be my next review if you want to look at them and compare.
Overall I would recommend this to anyone and it's especially great if you're looking for high quality Vegan toiletries. Although the price is high it's definitely worth it for what you get and it's also a very long lasting shampoo.
I Love Juicy Lush shampoo
If you are thinking about trying a new shampoo look no further I completely recommend I Love Juicy by Lush.
Lush say I love Juicy is full of "Juicy fruits to give you the freshest smoothie hair imaginable."
For one the smell is just yummy. Absolutely yummy. It has a fresh fruity smell that I never get tired of and although the smell isn't overwhelming it is quite strong and stays around even after my hair is dry. More than once my husband has commented on how nice my hair smells after using I love juicy.
One of the main reasons that I started using Lush shampoo last year was because I kept on having patches of irritated skin on my scalp. I tried changing shampoos but I never seemed to have much luck in finding something that left my hair clean, shiny and my scalp feeling healthy, until I discovered Lush's beautiful range of liquid shampoo.
I love juicy really does leave my hair shiny and looking healthy. I tend to just use it once to wash, then rinse and go, I rarely feel like I need to use this twice in a row to get clean feeling hair. Although I love juicy is advertised for greasy hair it works fine on my normal hair. My hair isn't particularly dry, greasy or flyaway, it's somewhere in the middle and this shampoo is perfect. It is always worth buying a small bottle first to test it out and make sure you like it, but I would be shocked if you didn't!
As with all Lush products, the I love juicy shampoo is a bit more expensive than the price you might pay for a shampoo at your local supermarket. For me it's absolutely worth it and I always buy the largest of the bottles available. The packaging is simple and functional, but beware I have found the bottles can leak a bit so it's best to store them upright.
Yet another great thing about this shampoo, if you still need to be convinced to try it, is that you don't really need to use a lot to get a good lather. At first I was quite surprised by how little I actually needed to use, which means that for me this shampoo lasts a lot longer than some of the other brands I have tried. As I mentioned I buy the 500g bottle for £15.50 and it usually lasts me well over a month.
I would completely recommend this shampoo and it is one of my all time favourite Lush and shampoo products.
I am sure most people are familiar with Lush but if you are not they sell an amazing range of naturally scented products using only natural ingredients. Thus, making Lush an ideal choice if like me you have sensitive skin, because I have yet to find even one of their products that have irritated my skin even slightly. Lush also make products that are vegan friendly, great if you are vegan and great at Christmas time for any vegan friends you may have.
To summarise the name of this shampoo completely sums how I feel about it - I Love, I Love Juicy!
Five out of five stars.
100g for £4.75
250g for £9.50
500g for £15.50
(Prices correct as of date of review)
Lush is a company which makes gorgeously scrumptious beauty products for our hair and skin, using a whole host of natural ingredients. They don't agree with testing their products on animals and refuse to add any artificial fragrances or colouring in their products. I have tried many of their hair products and have found them to be quite hit or miss, but with one sniff of the I Love Juicy Shampoo, I was sold!
What does the product do?
I Love Juicy promises to get your hair incredibly fresh and clean using a fruity cocktail of juices. It has been specifically made for those whose hair becomes greasy a little too quickly. It claims to nourish your locks with vitamins and minerals, coat it with a natural shine and to remove all traces of grease and grime from your hair. Lush promises that this shampoo will leave your hair soft, shiny and squeaky clean.
How does the product work?
The shampoo is largely made up of a variety of fruit juices which is what gives this product its name, aroma and also what makes it so special. Lemon Oil is included to moisturise the hair and to give it a gorgeous shine, while nourishing the scalp. Freshly Juiced Papaya helps to strengthen and soften the hair as well as coating it with a natural shine and feeding it with vitamins and minerals.
Sweet Orange Oil brightens and smoothes the hair while Pineapple juice nourishes the hair and leaves it in a better condition, as does Fresh Kiwi Juice. Mango Juice is included in order to cleanse and hydrate the hair, meaning that it won't become brittle and snap. As it is an antioxidant, it will remove dulling pollutants from the hair which will allow it to shine and it conditions your locks with vitamins. Fine Sea Salt is included and although this is a 'non juicy ingredient', it still helps to maintain the health of the scalp and prevents hair loss which makes your locks look full of body.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be used in the same way as a normal shampoo. It is to be applied to damp hair and massaged in well, rinsed out thoroughly and then followed up with a good conditioner.
Packaging and Price
The product comes within a recyclable plastic bottle through which you can see the honeyish coloured liquid inside. The bottle has a black lid and a white label which has some more information about the product written on it. The label also tells us that the product has 'enough raw energy to power a small city.' I assume Lush are joking!
The product comes in three different sizes. I bought the smallest one which cost around £5 and for that money I got 100 grams of the shampoo. If you know you like the product, you might prefer to buy the big 500 grams bottle which will cost around £15, or for those who want something in the middle, you can choose a 250 gram bottle. The shampoo is available from your local Lush store or from its online website.
My hair is often very dry and damaged because of all of the heated styling appliance which I use on it and because I often colour it. Despite this, it can get greasy quite quickly, especially at the roots, and then this weighs down my hair and I lose all the volume which I tried so hard to achieve. So although this product is designed for those with oily hair, I thought it might help me out too.
The aroma of the product is lovely. It is really fruity and not artificial smelling at all. It isn't as sweet as I thought it would have been, baring in mind all the fruity ingredients, but it does smell really refreshing and wouldn't be offensive to anyone... Unless you really don't like fruit! This aroma is long lasting on the hair and it is noticeable for quite a few hours after use although it can be masked if you are using scented conditoners and styling products afterwards.
The consistency of the product is no different to what you would expect from a normal shampoo and neither is the texture. I use the same amount of shampoo that I would normally use and it is easy to work into the hair. It produces some lather and feels completely comfortable whilst it is on my hair and I had no problems getting all of the product out.
One of the first things that I noticed about this product, is just how cleansing it really is. I use a lot of volumising products, heat protection products, shine products etc and this shampoo gets it all out and leaves my hair really, really soft. That said, it is a little bit drying too and with daily use, it strips my hair too much and makes it frizzy.
When used periodically it gives very good results and I now use it after a girl's night out when I have used tons of product left in my hair. When used in this way, it makes my hair shine and feel soft. If you do have oily hair however, you should have no problem using it every day or each time you wash your hair.
Because the product contains so many natural ingredients, it does come with an expiration date so it all needs to be used by then. If you have drier hair which becomes greasy and you won't be using this product every day, you might be better off buying one of the smaller bottles so that none goes to waste.
All in all, this is a nice but slightly drying shampoo which cleanses the hair thoroughly. It uses natural fruit juices so leave your hair soft and shiny. If you have greasy hair, I think this would be a God send, if you have drier hair, buy smaller bottle first and see how you get on with it.
==Lush I Love Juicy==
Until recently I'd only ever tried Lush's solid shampoo which didn't do very much for me, when I went into Lush though and had a look at a few of the new products I decided to have a look at some of the bottled shampoo they do. I usually use whatever's in the shower, never finding the 'perfect' shampoo. As they do though, a shop assistant came over and talked me through a few of the different shampoo options, asking me how often I washed my hair and how my hair felt. Now I find that sometimes my scalp can be quite dry, and because it gets quite greasy on top I have to wash it every other day. The assistant recommended I Love Juicy, as it leaves your scalp soft but combats greasiness.
What Lush say: "I Love Juicy is an amazingly fruity shampoo for getting your hair really clean. It is genuinely juicy, too, with our vitamin and mineral-packed fruit mixture as a base, loads of cleansing organic papaya and kiwi with citrus oils for shine, toning and fruity fragrance. Washing with a fruit and seaweed mix removes grease and softens the hair. Don't be dirty, be fabulously fruity."
===Price and Availability===
I Love Juicy is available from Lush shops as well as on the Lush website, Lush.co.uk. There are three bottle sizes available; I opted for the smallest one of 100g for £4.45. There is also 250g and 500g bottles available at £8.90 and £14.25 respectively, so you do make a saving for buying a bigger bottle. I wouldn't recommend doing so immediately though, as I often find some Lush products suit me and some don't it's best to try it cheaper first then buy bigger if the shampoo works for you.
The shampoo comes in clear plastic bottles with the usual Lush signature packaging of a black label with white writing. Underneath 'I Love Juicy' the label says "Enough Raw Energy to Power a Small City". There are also brief instructions to wet hair and shampoo once before rinsing out, pretty simple.
The shampoo itself, if I'm honest doesn't look very appealing at all, it's sort of an off white turning to very light brown colour, and very thick, but as it was recommended I decided to part with my cash and give it a go.
When I first got this in the shower, I put a very small amount in the palm of my hand and started to lather it up. Perfect for summer and a favourite of mine, the citrusy scents started whirling around me. The shampoo lathered really well, especially when I added a little water to my hand. I started massaging the shampoo into my scalp first, as I was recommended to do so by the shop assistant if I find my hair is often greasier on top. The little bit of shampoo I used went a really long way, and I used the same lather all the way down my hair, massaging my scalp once more before rinsing off.
===Did It Work?===
I'm pleased to say that as my hair started to dry the citrusy, fruity scents lingered, it wasn't too much but I have had compliments that my hair smells nice since. I was also really pleased that my hair felt lovely and smooth and my scalp was also not feeling dry at all.
Long term, my hair feels in much better condition, it's a lot less greasy and I find I don't have to wash my hair as often. My scalp is also a lot softer, meaning I Love Juicy gets the thumbs up from me.
Overall, I have been very pleased with I Love Juicy, it's left my hair feeling a lot better, as well as smelling lovely and fresh and citrusy. Even though it goes a long way it's still expensive, and it doesn't look very nice, apart from that it's a great buy.
For Christmas I asked everyone for toiletries as not only did I want to save money and have enough to see me through for a few months, I wanted something practical that I knew would get used. My sister bought me a huge amount of stuff (far too much really) including four Lush products - amazingly three of which I hadn't yet tried! One of those was the I Love Juicy shampoo. Whilst I have used two of the Lush shampoo bars in the past, this was the first liquid shampoo I had tried (unless you include 'Big' which I personally don't as it's more lumps than liquid) - although I did buy two mini bottles from the retro range last year that I've still not tried.
I love Juicy is described on the bottle as having 'enough raw energy to power a small city' and the combination of mango, pineapple, kiwi and papaya are perfect for cleaning greasy hair. I personally wash my hair every other day, as I find after around 48hours my hair starts to become greasy with a lot of product build up. At the same time though, the ends of my hair can be quite dry and brittle, so I wasn't sure how suitable this would be for my hair type.
The shampoo comes in a clear bottle with a black label which has white writing. It's plain and simple, but Lush always say that's because they prefer to spend the money on the ingredients inside the product rather than the bottle it's packaged in.
The actual shampoo is a slightly murky yellow colour and I have noticed that if you don't use it for a while it seems to separate and so needs a good shake before use. I Love Juicy is suitable for vegans and contains an impressive array of fruity ingredients, including lemon oil, freshly juiced papaya, sweet orange oil, fresh pineapple juice, fresh kiwi juice and fresh mango juice amongst other things. These all combine to give a lovely scent. To me it reminds me of a pineapple and orange juice - it's a very fresh and happy scent.
One thing that took me ages to get used to was the fact you really don't need much of this stuff per use. Having reasonably long hair, I am used to using a rather large dollop of shampoo, but this one lathers up so much, it really is best to go easy, otherwise you will end up spending much longer than normal rinsing the foam from your hair. Crazy amounts of foam aside, this is a lovely product to use as the smell really envelopes you as you use it.
I have a tendency to use quite a lot of product in my hair - serums, heat protection sprays, hair spray, root spray, you name it, it's usually in my hair! Obviously this creates quite a build up, and with some other brands I often don't feel my hair is thoroughly clean after just one wash, so have to wash it twice. With I Love Juicy this isn't the case, and any gunk or build up is gone in one go, saving me both time and shampoo!
I have heard very mixed opinions about the Lush liquid shampoos and to be honest I wasn't really expecting much from this product. I have to say though, the results have been fantastic, and I'm just sorry I didn't try this out sooner!
The first noticeable difference to my hair is that it feels incredibly silky and smooth. As my hair is long I always follow with a conditioner - there is no matching one available so I just use whatever is in my bathroom -at the moment I'm a bit disorganised and have TIGI, Palmolive and Head and Shoulders all on the go! I must admit though, even before I apply the conditioner my hair feels much less tangled and a lot smoother than it usually does after just shampooing.
There is now a noticeable shine to my hair, and my TIGI shine spray has barely been used since I started using this shampoo. The other thing I have noticed is that my hair seems to be bouncier and has more of a swish to it (lol) when I use this shampoo. It's very light and leaves no build up in the hair, and so with more movement my hair appears healthier.
The product is available in three different sizes...
100g - £4.45
250g - £8.90
500g - £14.25
I do think that's quite expensive for a shampoo if I'm totally honest, but at the same time, a very small amount produces a large amount of lather, so it does last longer than most. You can buy this from Lush stores or online at www.lush.co.uk
Overall, I have been pleasantly surprised by this shampoo. It smells lovely and makes my hair look and feel wonderful. As I've already said, I'm a little bit mad with myself for not having tried this before. It is definitely a product I would recommend and one I would use again. Let's just hope Santa remembers to bring me another bottle (or two!) next year!
This shampoo is awesome! See I am a big fan of lush so I find myself always looking at the lush online store planning what I want to buy, either in store or online. When I looked at the shampoo section I came across I love juicy. With its alluring name I had to read more about it. SO after its decription, a fruity fragrance, I HAD to buy it!IN THE SHOWER: This shampoo is great. I love the smell. It smells like Papaya, which I absolutely LOVE and mango and just maybe a tad of kiwi. I love it and the best part is that it works really well. Unfortuantly, sometimes I will smell burnt rubber after I apply it. But only occasionly. Just wanted to warn you but I otherwise I will continue using this product.
I must admit, in the past I have flittered being shampoo brands, never being happy or satisfied with any one particular brand. My fair is quite fine and poker straight with a thick solid fringe, and I tend to get greasy roots if I don't wash my hair every day. Lucky me! When i started my Lush addiction many years ago 'I Love Juicy' was one of the first liquid shampoo's I tried.
Lush itself is a very ethical company, who make 'naked' products in an attempt to reduce wasted packaging, and any packaging they do need, for liquid products such as the shampoo's, are all made from recycled material, can be recycled and are plain and simple so no money is wasted on them. For those who really hate packaging there are even soild shampoo bars and solid conditioner bars which work wonders.
I love Juicy is a liquid shampoo designed for those of us who are cursed with greasy or oily hair. It is jam packed with fruits to cleanse your hair thoroughly and help to remove oils. The smell is the best selling point, once you sniff you can't put this product down. It smells so fresh, fruity and delicious and you get hooked smelling it trying to distinguish one fruit from the next.
It contains the below fabulous ingredients;
Fresh Papaya Juice helps to clear and cleanse the scalp and hair.
Fresh Pineapple Juice contains many vitamins and is good at helping your skin and scalp to remain at its best.
Lemon Oil will help your hair get an amazing shine and smell ncie too.
There are many more fabulous ingredients suchg as Fresh Kiwi and Mango juices, Orange Oil, Fine Sea Salt and Carrageenan Extract.
Check out the full list on www.lush.co.uk and check their Lushopedia out which will tell you what each ingredient is and why it is used in 'I Love Juicy'.
'I Love Juicy' is nothing special to look at beacuse of the plain packaging Lush use however the clear bottle reveals a bright yellow almost clear liquid which is quite bright and cheerful to look at.
The smell is what got me hooked immediately. I have never smelt such a beautiful concoxtion of fresh fruits, like the finest fruit salad you have ever tasted. I found myself trying to work out each smell, which I never managed. It does smell juicy so the name is quite suiting. I loved the freshness and could smell this all day.
When I put this onto my wet hair it lathered up really easily. I only needed a small 20p size blob for my medium length hair so one bottle lasts ages and ages. One 225g bottle would easily last 6 months used once a day so it's really great value for money.
It was really easy to wash the product out and it felt squeeky clean and smelt delightful. My hair felt very soft and had a great shine to it. I did feel my hair felt less greasy and I could go a day longer without washing it but after 3-4 months my hair started to get used to the product and get a little greasy again.
I do love the smell of this product and tend to use it for 1 month then switch to 'Squeeky Green' solid shampoo bar and back to juicy after that. This way my hair doesn't get used to the same product and still feels fresh and oil free.
I Love Juicy is one of Lush' liquid shampoos. It comes in clear plastic bottles in either 100g, 250g or 500g.
It is the consistency of regular liquid shampoo and is a pineappley yellow colour.
It smells extremely fruity - you can't really pick out any one fruit in the smell, rather just a mish-mash of fruits - a cocktail, I guess.
I have greasy hair normally, but using Lush shampoos has brought that under control - it's fantastic to be able to leave my hair that extra day before it needs washed and I Love Juicy is one of the shampoos that helps me do that.
You use it like normal shampoo - I usually apply, lather, rinse, re apply, lather and rinse.
Letting your hair dry naturally is the best bet (why be kind to your hair by giving it natural ingredients then blast it with loads of damaging heat?)
Once my hair dried it was really fluffy and clean with a lovely sheen to it. It felt bouncy and beautiful for the next few days (rare for me!) and the lovely, fruity smell lasted until I washed my hair again - it was a really lovely smell to get a random whiff of every now and again throughout the day.
Lush I Love Juicy Shampoo
Description: Brand: Lush / Hair Care Type: Shampoo / Fruity shampoo to get oily and grubby hair really clean.
I have highlighted blond hair so tend to use a shampoo and conditioner specially designed for my hair type. This is unfortunately quite expensive but it does seem to give my highlights more longevity and expand the time between trips to the hairdressers so it seems to be worth it.
Every now and again though, I use this shampoo from Lush simply because I like it so much and it leaves my hair feeling incredibly clean and shiny. I have a brunette friend who uses it all the time and her hair is so shiny that she looks like someone from a television advert!
It costs £8.35 for a 200g bottle of this shampoo. Lush isn't the cheapest place to shop, but this is because they make hand made cosmetics from natural ingredients. They are committed to reducing packaging and also do a wide range of charity work. Why not have a look at their website to get an idea of the projects they support. You can also use the website to check out products (including ingredients) and locate your closest shop.
You can buy this shampoo online and in store, if you order online, it will arrive packaged in popcorn instead of polystyrene which is kinder to the environment.
The fragrance of this shampoo is what makes me keep going back for more, it is the fruitiest shampoo that I have ever used. Lush say that it has organic papaya and kiwi and there are also base notes of lemon, pineapple and mango.
It doesn't lather up as much as some shampoos but certainly enough to make you feel that it is cleaning your whole head. You can also smell the fragrance for ages after drying your hair.
Water (Aqua), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Cocamide MEA, Propylene Glycol, Perfume, Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum), Freshly Juiced Papaya (Carica papaya), Fine Sea Salt, Carrageenan Extract (Chondrus crispus), Orange Oil (Citrus Aurantium dulcis), Fresh Pineapple Juice (Ananas sativus), Fresh Kiwi Juice (Actinidia chinensis), Fresh Mango Juice (Mangifera indica), *Citral, *Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben}
*Occurs naturally in essential oils
I really love this shampoo, it leaves my hair smelling amazing and really clean and shiny. If I didn't have colour treated hair then I would definitely use it all the time, but because I do, it has to be an occasional treat. If you have natural coloured hair then I really recommend that you give this one a go!
4 Dooyoo stars, simply because it isn't designed for colour treated hair.
They say "Fruity shampoo to get oily and grubby hair really clean".
I love Lush, particularly their bath and shower products and moisturisers too, but I find their hair products largely hit and miss. Some solid shampoos are great but many are just average, and the same applies to their liquid products.
This is, as the name implies, a very fruity feeling smelling shampoo, with papaya, pineapple, kiwi and mango; lemon and orange essential oils. It is supposed to be particularly good for greasy hair.
I bought one 100ml bottle to try, and I was underwhelmed. I normally tend to use a shampoo for greasy, normal or fine/flyaway hair, and then a bit heavier conditioner. I was my hair every 2-3 days (if it's three, it is noticeably greasy by the time it gets washed) and I Love Juicy didn't make any difference to that.
It washes well and it has a reasonably pleasant, fruity, mostly citrusy scent, reminding me of the Happy Hippy shower gel (even though this shampoo isn't suppose to contain grapefruit) but nothing to get particularly excited about. Anyway, I am not that bothered about shampoo scents, unless they are seriously gorgeous like Godiva - I treat them as utilitarian rather than pleasure products.
For me, the ultimate in "deep clean" shampoos was a Charles Worthington's one called Dream Hair and since its disappearance nothing ever came close. This Lush product works well: gentle enough not to cause major fizz and frizz, but washes the hair well. I would not use it without conditioner, as my hair is rather fine, wavy and rarely cut and thus gets into terrible tangles - but that applies to pretty much any shampoo out there.
At almost 4 GBP per 100ml it's a very expensive shampoo and in the final count, not worth it at all, at least for me. I would rather spend the money on one of Lush's more expensive bath bars and use a standard High Street brand like Tresemme or Dove.
I Love Juicy is a liquid shampoo from Lush for greasy hair. The fruity one!
Now I don't have greasy hair but I'm in the process of my hair making itself into dreadlocks so I thought I'd get a shampoo for greasy hair to try dry my hair out and encourage it to knot up a bit more. Wrong! I used this and ended up with amazingly soft and squeaky clean hair. The smell is a bit.. strange at first its very pineappley rather than tropical as I was expecting. The smell is plesant but I prefer more earthy smells so if you're the same maybe try one of the other products (even tramp shower gel is good for washing hair with).
Whats so fruity about it?
Fresh Mango Juice : Mangoes are full of natural anti-oxidents, vitamins and minerals. The anti-bacterial juice is full of enzymes which remove dirt providing a shine-enhancing, cleansing, strengthening and volumising effect on hair. Lush buy Mangos whole and juice them themselves so the juice really is fresh.
Fresh Pineapple Juice: Again squeezed by Lush. The acids in pineapple juice ''gobble up'' dead skin cells and dirt. Eliminating dandruff!
Fresh Kiwi Juice: Kiwi Juice is highly nutritious which means it helps hair be soft and shiny. Also removes dirt as the above.
Lemon Oil: Antiseptic, fungicidal, detoxifying and uplifting. Enough said.
250ml = £7.78
500ml = £12.48
Suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.
