Disadvantages: the price
I have a daily cleaning routine as more people probably do, it helps to stick to a routine as any changes can cause a bad reaction so it's always to true new products but of the same type, also it helps your body be more balanced so if you wash your face twice a day it always help to do it the same sort of times every day so your face is protected for the full 24 hours all the time and not just sometimes. I used to bleach and dye my hair wacky colours all the time since I was about 10/11 so my hair is really beaten up, I like to try new products for my skin and hair to help repair and reduce or stop so much breakage, I also have to wash my hair every day which a complete nightmare, so I thought i'd try this shampoo bar.
Lush is a well known company who hand make their own products specializing in the body and hair, they mainly sell bath products such as ballistics, melts, wash's and scrubs, but they do lots of hair care, facial, perfumes and creams as well. Lush only used the best quality ingredients and do not buy from suppliers who test on animals which is one of the main issues today. More and more people are refusing to buy products tested on animals and I think Lush are a great promoter of this.
I am really tight with my money, i'd rather wait till products are on sale or seek out a sale than pay the original price as i'm always looking of good effective ways to save more money, the most money I spend on hair care products is on tresemme conditioner 3 bottles for £10 and even then I think that steep. If you are like me you may find the price of one shampoo bar rather shocking, this 'Jumping Juniper' is a whooping £5 for a 95g bar. This is available direct from the website, your local Lush store or over the telephone by ringing a Lush employee on 01202 668545. I as always would recommend going into the shop because you don't have to worry about postage but if however you live nowhere near one, then use the website for free but make sure you get the most of your money as the postage is quite high. Over the phone is good but you will have the product, postage and the phone bill afterwards to pay.
Looking at 'jumping juniper' is reminds me of those biscuit-y things called Macaroons, although I've never had a Macaroon, it looks really tasty which makes 'Jumping Juniper' look tasty too, but I wouldn't recommend taking a bite. In the picture shown above it quite different to how the product actually looks, in this review picture it makes it look like one of those coconut squidgy blue bobble-y sweets out of the liqourice all sorts sweets which I don't like at all! So I prefer it looking like a Macaroon, also in this picture it's quite dark blue/purple colour and the actual 'Jumping Juniper' looks like a roughed textured smooth clam shell which is a light lilac-y colour.
The smell of this 'Jumping Juniper' is mainly Lavender but also has some other citric flavors in the ingredients such as lemon and lime, I'm not the biggest fan of Lavender smells as I think the smell is quite choking, this smell was really over powering and I wasn't looking forward to using it in the slightest, I only bought it because of the effect it was supposed to have on your hair. I was quite glad that whilst in the shower the hot water made the smell fade away and was more of a nice hint not an overwhelming scent.
'Jumping Juniper' I find is a rather amusing name, the name to me doesn't really reflect anything to do with the product as i'd of expected it to have something to do with Lavender in the title. 'Jumping Juniper' sounds like a phrase you'd say when shocked, a more funkier term to use rather than 'as if' a little like the term 'Merlin's beard' used in Harry Potter as a shocked phrase. If you think this is weird, try saying it allowed int hat type of voice an you'll know exactly what I mean.
'Jumping Juniper' is made up of lots of ingredients such as Lavender, Lemon and Lime, the Lavender helps balance out the oily in your hair making it not greasy and less greasy for longer days so like me you won't have to wash it every day but every 2 - 3 days instead which is really helpful. This also helps if you have scabs on your scalp, this may sound weird, but if you bleach and dye your hair often you'll know that after time you can actually burn your scalp and it leaves behind lots of scabs, these ingredients help to heal and protect them and help balance it back out again.
To anyone who isn't quite sure how to use a shampoo bar, you can do it two ways. Number one way is to go in the shower or bath rinse you hair until soaking wet and with the shampoo bar in your hand rub all over your hair and scalp and then put down massage in and carry on as if it was liquid shampoo. Number to way it to wet your hands and rub vigorously into your hands to get it all lathered up and soapy then apply to scalp and hair.
After using this, I didn't apply conditioner as I wanted to see the full effects of the shampoo bar alone, my hair felt really brittle when wet and I was quite scared to comb it, so I left it and proceeded to drying it, I noticed it became softer and softer and it got dryer and it was lusciously soft even without conditioner and I have to wash it everyday but I only had to wash this every three days so this is a products I will continue to use on my hair.
