Advantages: Lasts forever, really works

Disadvantages: Wish the lovely fragrance would stay on my hair!

I was always intrigued by Lush's solid shampoo's and and had never tried then as I believed they would not lather up and clean my long hair enough. It is only recently that I have really begun to to convert a lot of my beauty products to Lush after finding that they really suit my skin.

I have very greasy, fine flyaway hair that has to be washed everyday due to the greasiness of it and the fact that I go to the gym daily. I have tried many shampoos claiming to reduce greasiness and I have found none that really work. But I decided to give the Lush shampoo a go after reading some reviews.

The Jumping Juniper shampoo bar is a shallow disc, about the diameter of a hairspray bottle. It is light and a solid soap type looking bar. It is purple in colour and smells of lavender and juniper. It is £5.00 from Lush so appears very costly, but they say that the bar will last around 100 washes. If this proves to be true then it would last longer for me than 2 bottles of Pantene shampoo which would end up costing more! I have been using it for around over a month now and it hardly reduced in size at all so I am already impressed!

The bar has ingredients of:-
Lavender
Rosemary Decoction
Juniperberry Oil
Lemon Oil
Lime Oil

You can really smell the Lavender and Juniper straight away! Directions to use are simple and easy. Just smooth the bar onto your hair and lather up, or use the bar like a soap and get a lather in your hands then apply to your hair. The first time I used it, I was not expecting much lather as all, but you get loads. I simply ran the bar down my long hair a few times and the lather was great! It smell fantastic as your using it and I hoped this lovely smell would stay on my hair all day.

Once I had lathered up and rinsed out I found my hair smelt lovely, but did feel like it needed some conditioner. I wasn't sure if I should use a conditioner with the bar or not so the first time I didn't apply any. As I dried my hair it did tangle more than normal (than when I use a conditioned) but had more volume and body. I dried my hair as usual with a hair dryer and styled as normal. I went about my usual day and on the way home from work went to the gym. Normally by bed time my hair would be starting to look lank and greasy again but I noticed it didn't look as bad as normal!

I woke up the next morning and found that my hair still looked OK. I did use a little dry shampoo just to freshen it up but to be fair I could have got away without using this. By the time I got home from work my hair did need washing and the grease had returned. At this point I was still impressed with the results as my hair had easily gone an extra day without washing than normally. As I have continued to use the bar I have noticed that its effect gets better and my hair can now go just over 2 days without looking greasy and lank. I am really impressed. I have never found a product that actually helps before and I am using it every time now and it is helping and getting better with the more time I use.

On a morning when I was running late for work I reached for my old Pantene Shampoo and used this simply as I was in a rush and it had been sitting unused on the side since switching to the Lush bar. I was surprised that within around 18 hours my hair had reverted to it greasy past and I had to wash it again the next morning as I had before. When I used my Jumping Juniper again it began to reduce the greasiness again. It seems that my hair really did miss the Jumping Juniper shampoo and it show how much it worked for me!

I have found that I do have to apply a conditioner to the ends of my hair as the ends tend to dry out, but this does not seem to have an detrimental effect on the shampoo bars results. The lovely fragrance the bar emits while in use does not stick to your hair once it is dry which is a shame as it is so lovely.

I have naturally blonde hair, but I do have a few highlights in it to brighten it up. The shampoo bar has both lemon and lime oil which I thought may be too drying on my highlights but it hasn't dried them out all, it has though seemed to lighten them a little though! Lemon is used in a lot of lightening shampoos for blonde hair so I suppose this makes sense, but I am not sure if this would suit hair that has been died dark. I think it may strip some of the colour out! For me this is a bonus though as it seems to have brightened my hair, so I love the effect it gives. My hair also feels fuller and cleaner with prolonged use.

I will definatly be sticking to my lush shampoo but have heard good reviews on the 'New' bar so will be trying that aswell. But it I do, I will make sure it is alternated with my Jumping Juniper to keep the grease at bay!

Summary: Greasy, lank hair....Goodbye, Good Riddance
