Advantages: smells nice, could be a compact and convenient way for using conditioner
Disadvantages: process lasted too long, didn't de-tangle or moisturise my hair enough
I tried out my free sample of this Lush jungle solid conditioner and these are available for £3.87 from their shops and online. I really wanted to try some before I bought this product as I've never used a solid conditioner before and since I have long, highlighted hair, I need extra conditioning treatments to stop my hair from tangling and breaking off.
This solid conditioner bar is green and feels about the same as a soap bar would. It smelt nice and pleasant but I couldn't quite describe what exactly it smelt of.
This solid conditioner smells really "green", I can't quite put my finger on it. To me if smells fresh and of green things that you would find in nature. Some of the ingredients used in this solid conditioner are cocoa butter (which I like to use on my skin as a daily intensive moisturiser), avocado extract (this could be the main contributor to the "green" smell of this product), fresh figs, fresh organic bananas, fresh passion fruit, fresh kumquat, Ylang-ylang oil, vetivert oil, cypress oil and cedarwood oil,
So, after using my regular shampoo, I put my solid conditioner sample under the warm shower water for a few seconds to warm it up so that it can start melting away into my palms and hair more easily. Then I rubbed it in between my palms and ran my fingers through my hair. When I found that this process was taking forever though, I thought I'd apply the bar directly through my hair.
The process of getting the conditioner in and through my hair took way too long in my opinion. It would only have taken a minute or less to apply a liquid conditioner, so with this product, I've taken 4 times longer than I would have with my regular liquid conditioner and I can't say it feels as smooth and tangle free as it would have done with the liquid conditioner either.
It took me ages to comb through the tangles and once it had dried, it didn't feel particularly softer or better than it would have felt with my regular or even cheaper conditioner.
I can't say I'm too impressed with this product. It's ne neat idea but perhaps its just not ideal for people with long hair. In my opinion, it wasn't creamy, thick and de-tangling enough. So, sad to say I won't be buying a full sized version of this stuff. I really wanted to like this product as the idea seemed so convenient and new but I really didn't get on with it.
Summary: maybe its better for shorter or less damaged hair?
