Hair so soft you won't be able to leave it alone! (Lush Marilyn Hair Moisturiser)

Advantages: Glossy shine and hair as soft as silk.

Disadvantages: Too nice so it doesn't last long!

If, like me, you spend a lot of time battering your hair with chemicals, bleaches, scalding hot straightening irons and tongs, you might find that your hair eventually gives up and lacks life and lustre. There are lots of shampoos and conditioners on the market which will claim to bring life back to damaged hair but I haven't found anything which works quite as well as Marilyn hair moisturiser from Lush.

I use a lot of Lush products and have never had any complaints about any of them and I think Marilyn has to be my favourite. So, what is it?

Marilyn is a moisturiser for your hair (whatever will they think of next?!) which, when applied liberally to dry hair (oh it feels soooooo goooooood!!!) softens and moisturises your hair before washing, leaving it amazingly soft and silky with a beautiful shine. It also keeps your blonde locks staying blonde; as the name Marilyn would suggest, it is for blondes both natural and, ahem, chemically enhanced.

The product comes in a 225g tub costing around £7.50 and contains all kinds of lovely goodies for your hair. Chamomile to help maintain your golden tresses and apparantly, make your hair fairer over time, linseed mucilage to make your hair silky soft, lemon oil to make your hair shiny and olive oil to act as a moisturiser among other ingredients. When you unscrew the lid, you are faced with a golden yellow thick gloopy mixture which soaks your hair as you massage it in. The smell of the product is lovely; you are hit with the chamomile scent and you can just sense the lemon coming through. What is really nice is that the smell stays in your hair for a long while, reminds me of the summer.

I have short hair now but when it was long it was part way down my back and I would use a good handful for one application. A pot would last me perhaps 10 uses and I used it every day. Once applied to dry hair you can either shower straight away and wash your hair as normal or you can leave it on your hair for as long as you please for a deeply moisturising treatment.

Once washed and dried, my hair was so silky and soft I couldn't stop running my hands through it and the shine was brilliant and glossy without being greasy.
I'm not sure that my hair was lightened noticeably by the product but I was so blown away by the glossiness, look and feel of my hair, I didn't mind! It's also nice to know that if you have chemically processed or heat damaged hair, Marilyn is making sure it stays nourished and in tip top condition.

This product is one of Lush's vegan products so, although I am not vegan or vegetarian, it is good to know that there are brilliant products out there to cater for vegan needs. Also, Lush operates a recycling system where if you bring in 5 empty, clean black pots, you will receive one of their fresh face masks free of charge. A great incentive to do something for the environment and as this product is so fantastic and it doesn't last too long because the more often you use it, the more you want to use each time, it'll be easy to get 5 pots to recycle and get a freebie in the process!

A wonderful product which may take time to lighten your hair colour (blondes only mind you!) but the softness and shine it gives hair is second to none.
