Advantages: smells great
Disadvantages: expensive
I was really looking forward to trying Lush's liquid shampoos. I have tried the solid shampoos in the past and not gotten on with them for a variety of reasons, one of which was storage of them between uses, so the liquid variety would be no problem in this area.
I chose rehab after reading on the Lush site and choosing the one that I thought would suit me best, and also the one which included the ingredients I prefer. Rehab is designed for hair that is stressed out and exposed to a lot of harshness. My hair is straightened nearly every day, and although I don't colour it, I feel as though it could do with some nourishing so this was the one for me. It also contains citrus fruits so I knew I was going to get a fruity experience.
The shampoo is packaged in a clear plastic bottle with a flip lid. All the Lush items that need to be packaged in the bottles use these and they aren't very pliable which is one of their down falls, as when you need to squeeze the liquid with wet hands the bottle can't be gripped very well.
Rehab doesn't look very inviting when you see its colour, but it smells amazing when you open the lid. Can you get past something that looks like stale urine and smells like a citrus burst? I can. I just keep telling myself that each bottle will vary in colour due to the ingredients used, and I don't need to look at it very long anyway.
The consistency of rehab is fairly runny, but despite this I found I didn't need a lot to get a good lather on my hair. I have shoulder length hair and I didn't have very much in my hand to start with, but I could feel it lather up instantly and I just worked all my hair into the lather and it covered well.
Rehab felt quite soapy when I was massaging into my hair and I thought I was going to get the same squeaky feeling that I got from the shower gel, but thankfully it didn't happen. It doesn't feel as thick as nourishing as other brands of shampoos but then it doesn't have all the harsh chemicals that manufacturers add into mass produced hair products.
I liked the way my hair felt after using the shampoo as well. It felt a bit more tangled than normal, but as soon as I conditioned it with another Lush product, it settled down well and the two different products seemed to marry together well.
Using this shampoo, I find that my hair needs washing slightly more frequently than normal, but it could be adjusting to using more natural ingredients. It's also slightly more fly away than when I use other brands, but nothing a bit more conditioner and extra products wont sort out. I just needed an extra excuse for a shopping trip.
I can honestly say that I have never been able to smell the shampoo in my hair after 24 hours with any shampoo, but I can always still get a faint hint of rehab the next day which is wonderful for me to be able to smell my hair is still clean.
I can highly recommend this shampoo to anyone who hasn't tried it. I would suggest getting the smaller bottle if you aren't sure whether it'll be suitable for your hair type, but at £4.36 for a 100ml bottle, it is expensive, yet will last you for ages due to the small amount you need each time.
It's also available in a 250ml bottle for £8.56 and 500ml bottle for £13.95. Get yourself into rehab now!
