Advantages: It works, it smells great and it lasts a long time

Disadvantages: It is more expensive than your average High Street Brand

After the success I had with Lush Jumping Juniper a shampoo bar, I thought I would try one of their many conditioners to see if I could create the type of effect I had always been promised by brands such as Pantene and Tresemme, which would make my hair shiny, manageable and sleek, and had never quite reached it.

After looking at Conditioner Bars and Liquid Conditions I decided that I did like the look of Lush Retread, which comes in a black pot, which is very similar to the type of tub Lush Dream Cream comes in and for the bargain price of £6.95 for 245g I thought it was a very worthwhile purchase, especially if it is as good as the shampoo.

Lush Retread conditioner claims to be one of triple strength and is a specially enhanced deluxe formula. The Lush websites states “There are far too many ways in which you can ruin your hair: perming, bleaching, blow-drying, colouring, curling and straightening to name but a few” And with that in mind it promises to rebuild wrecked hair and uses many different ingredients to target different areas of damaged hair.

Now I don’t think my hair is particularly ruined but I do blow-dry, straighten and sometimes have it highlighted and I use no end of lotions and potions in an effort to have poker straight hair instead of my unruly wavy hair and most straightening balms, creams and lotions will contain chemicals to enhance the straightening effect, so I was hoping that this conditioning treatment would replenish my hair and leave me with sleek and shiny locks.

At first glance this Retread conditioner as I have said before is very similar to my Lush Dream Cream, so I have to take extra care in not using that instead of the conditioner and you do need to take care when opening the pot because it is quite difficult the first time you try to remove the lid, I found it easier to open using something I could grip the lid with, such as a flannel or tea towel. Once you have the lid off the pot you will see inside that the conditioner doesn't look any different from other conditioners appearance wise, the only difference is that it is in a Lush pot and not in a bottle. It is just a white creamy substance, which is definitely thicker than my traditional conditioner, and you will notice that it has a lovely fresh scent, which isn't overpowering and it reminds me of flowers.

The ingredients of Retread are quite wide and varied and the one thing I found very odd was that it contained Soya Milk which is apparently used to help rebuild your hair and then there is Avocado Oil which is used as a nourishing ingredient and it is also good for your scalp, seaweed to soften and oils to increase tensile strength, Jojoba Oil which is sued in a lot of hair products to leave your hair looking shiny and manageable and there are also many other ingredients that can be found on the Lush website.

To use Lush Retread all you need to use is a very small amount, probably no bigger than the size of a 50p because it is quite a thick cream and then as you would do with any other conditioner you just massage the conditioner into your hair and then rinse out using warm water, never use hot water to rinse your hair because hot water will open the pores and leave you with a greasy feel to your hair and especially if you tend to have slightly greasy hair you should use warm and not hot water anyway.

So, after massaging Retread into your hair you just wash it out straight away or you can leave it on your hair to soak in for a few extra minutes to make sure it's got chance to work. As you wash it out you will be able to notice and feel the results instantly. My hair had a very soft feel to it after using Retread and it shone much more than it ever has done before and when I had finished drying it my hair was much more manageable than I have ever known it to be and I didn’t have to use any straightening products to get that poker straight look either than using my GHD straightening irons.

For me this is the best conditioner I have certainly ever used and it is one that I will continue to use, even though it is slightly more expensive than your high street brand. But as I see it, why pay money for something that does not work on your hair. Also when I buy something new I work out the price per use (it often helps me justify buying that next pink handbag) and so far I have used this conditioner 15 times and I am not even a quarter of the way down the tub and I do use it quite liberally.

Do I recommend this product? Without a shadow of a doubt, it does exactly what it says it is going to do and although it is slightly more expensive than your average conditioner it works.

**Extra Information**

Lush packaging on single objects is relatively simple, they are wrapped tightly in some see-through packaging and upon opening, the first thing you notice is the smell

If anyone wants to investigate Lush further to see what ingredients are used for this or any other products then you simply go to www.lush.co.uk which will give you the UK version of their website.

Lush products are not tested on animals, in fact they are vehemently against products being tested on animals and to test their own products they do tests on humans to ensure they are safe for general sale to the public and they will not buy ingredients from companies who use testing on animals as one of their protocols.

Lush first officially launched their products in 1995, although they had been around for many years previous and their name was decided upon in a competition after many years of working under the name 'Cosmetics to go' as a mail order company and so to Poole in Dorset the firm grew and became globally known.

The one thing that I found really interesting when I read up about Lush as a company is that in most of their products they use real Jasmine Absolute Perfume, which I am told it is more expensive than gold, yet Lush products are sold at affordable prices so that the everyday person can treat themselves to such luxuries.

Summary: A Lush conditioner for damaged hair
