Advantages: Free if you get 2 shampoo bars, good for transporting shampoo or keeping it in
Disadvantages: None, though if you don't get it for free it's pricy
Here I am with another Lush review (sorry if you're getting bored of them). I seriously love Lush products, but in my current financial state as an unemployed student, I can't really afford to buy them often, which is why it's fantastic when I get something from there for free. Yes, boys and girls, when you buy two shampoo bars from Lush the lovely people there will give you a free tin to keep one in. I actually got this along with two shampoo bars from my mam for my birthday, so they were free too, but it's nice knowing that these tins are free if you want one.
The Lush company is known not only for their gorgeous products and attractive shops, but also for being an ethical and environmentally friendly company. They have tried extremely hard to reduce packaging wherever possible, which is why most of their soaps, shampoo bars and deodorant bars come wrapped in no more than a bit of grease proof paper. This is pretty amazing when you consider the fact that most bath products from other companies come in a lot of unnecessary plastic packaging which will all end up in landfills. The only problem is, if you buy a shampoo bar from Lush, where do you keep it? What do you do if you want to take it to a friend's house or on holiday? You can't carry it around in the paper forever, and there's no bottle or bag to keep it in, so what do you do? Well, Lush came up with a solution: shampoo bar tins. These are small tins the size of the shampoo bars, with the word Lush written across the top of them. They are simple in design and lightweight, and perfect for transferring your shampoo bar around, or simply for keeping it in when you're not using it.
This tin is great if you have a shampoo bar, and I am very glad that I have one for keeping my Godiva bar in. There is only one problem that I have with it, and that's the fact that when you have a new bar which is the maximum size, it's hard to get it in and out of the tin, especially when it's wet. Also, if you put it straight back into the tin when it's damp, small bits of it will stick to the inside and go hard, which isn't a huge problem, but is a bit annoying.
In short, I would say that if you're getting a shampoo bar, you really should get a shampoo tin too. They're convenient and do their job well, and it's a bit annoying dealing with the bar without one. I would recommend buying two shampoo bars instead of one, as if you do this then you would get the tin for free, instead of having to pay £2.69 for one, which is only a couple of quid cheaper than getting another shampoo bar anyway. These tins are great, and having one will encourage you to get more shampoo bars in the future, which are great for the environment and work well too!
Summary: A tin to keep your Lush shampoo bars in.

- 05/02/09 I've only used the solid shampoos once or twice but I just used a plastic soap box I had in the house. Didnt look as good as your tin but did the same job! |
