Advantages: keeps soap contained
Disadvantages: Can't open it with long nails
I feel like a right good moan today so I feel it is a good time to write about the Lush Soap Shampoo tin that was supplied with a trial bar of shampoo that I was given to review for another website.
Description
The tin is silver in colour with the Lush logo on the lid. It fits perfectly into the palm of your hand so is a nice small size for travel and storage. When the soap is in (when it's new and full sized) it fits snugly into the base of the tin and gets a little smaller each time you use it.
Fastening
The two halves of the tin fit snugly together when pressed shut, a bit like a Vaseline lip therapy tin. Trying to open this tin was virtually impossible. I had wet hands when I first tried so dried them, broke two nails and then started using dry cloths to try and loosen the closed tin.
Ten minutes later...
I got back in to the tin and have never dared use it since closed! To be honest, I find it better to dry out the soap on a rack and then put it in to the tin dry otherwise it sticks to the bottom of the tin too. I don't really like to think of it festering there.
My thoughts
These tins are rubbish! The design is terrible and the soap sticks to the inside if you put it in damp. I really wouldn't bother with this but invest in a wooden drying rack for the soap to get the most life out of it.
Price
The tins are not expensive at £2.50 each and to be fair on the website they do advise that you dry the soap out first before popping in the tin.
Final word
Just don't bother! As a suggestion (in case Lush are reading this) I would say a boot polish style tin would be better, you know where you get a little lever on the side to help you open the tin. That or either lots of little lines in the lid on the lip so you can get some purchase on the grip of the tin. I know I have had a rant here about this tin but it is frustrating when you can't get access to something you need and breaking the nails is all I need to do to know this is not something I am ever using again!
Summary: I threw mine away
