Advantages: gorgeous fragrance, value for money

Disadvantages: slimy seaweed bits

I tried a Lush Shampoo bar for the very first time yesterday and I was totally amazed. It is not often that I purchase a product and immediately think, yes, that’s excellent. It was exactly what I expected.

This solid shampoo bar was actually patented by Lush and it is constantly under development. Basically a shampoo bar looks like a small round bar of soap. It is highly compressed and lasts for a very long time. Lush say that you can get 70 to 100 hair washes from one 55grm bar. At prices of £1.50 up to £4.50, I would call this excellent value for money.

First of all let’s take a look at the different fragrances available. I was quite daunted by the choice but the staff in our local Lush Outlet were really pleasant and helpful.
You can choose from:

Godiva
Hard Shampoo for hard water areas
Hybrid
Jumping Juniper
Karma Komba
New Hair
Seanik
Soak and Float
Shampoo in a tin
Soft Shampoo Bar for soft water areas
Ultimate Shine

I eventually chose Seanik with a little help from the assistant. I wanted something to add shine to my hair, keep it soft but add a bit of body too.

This bar contains natural ingredients and I did check the list available in store to make sure that there was nothing that would irritate my very sensitive skin. Seanik contains sea salt and seaweed. The smell is gorgeous.

I couldn’t wait to get this home and try it out. All you do is wet your hair and very lightly rub the bar on your head to get lather. I actually used a bit too much the first time as it lathered up very quickly. So, go sparingly until you get the hang of it. The amount will depend on your hair and the water where you are.

It rinses away very easily and it left my hair feeling clean, silky and soft, not to mention the gorgeous shine. The aroma is wonderful.

The only thing I didn’t like about this product is that because it contains tiny bits of actual seaweed it can feel a little bit slimy when it’s wet. I didn’t like the feel of the seaweed as I put the bar to dry after using it. (You have to keep it dry so that it lasts longer.)

Was Impressed? Yes, I was, and I would buy this again or maybe one of the other bars from the range. This one cost £3.75 for a 55grm bar and although that seems a lot I think its excellent value for 70 to 100 hair washes.

Summary: great shampoo bar by Lush which is effective and good value

You can purchase a tin to go with them.

We sell simliar shampoo bars with with or without tins, but for travelling I would recommend one for sure.
