Lush Veganese Conditioner
Advantages: Smells great, works well
Disadvantages: None really, but it is not cheap
I am a recent convert to the Lush solid shampoo cause; please see my review on Jumping Juniper. The aforementioned conditioner was recommended to me by a Lush staff member as I have hair with oily roots. When I asked which conditioner would be the most appropriate to complement the shampoo and my hair type - Veganese was the one which was recommended to me.
Veganese comes in three different bottle sizes and prices: £3.50 for 100g, £6.95 for 250g and £11.50 for 500g. So this is not the cheapest when compared to conventional high street brands.
As indicated by the title it is suitable for vegans. The dominant ingredients in this product are lavender and lemon. What makes it vegan is the use of seaweed extract instead of the traditional binding agent of lanolin which is made of sheep's wool.
On opening the plastic bottle and taking a whiff, you get a definite hit of lemon scent, which is fresh rather than harsh. When pouring it out it has a really nice shimmering light bronze colour and it is runnier than most conventional conditioners which tend to be quite thick and moussey in texture. That said, I have found that relatively little does go a long way as I do not condition too close to the roots for fear of greasiness. On applying it to your hair it goes on really easily.
I tend to try and keep it on as is for a couple of minutes before washing it out. What is a stand-out feature of this product is that unlike conventional conditioners, when you have washed it out it feels smooth without feeling slimy or weighed down. This is a revelation which carries on through when you dry your hair either naturally or by blow-drying. I have noticed that my hair is still shiny, but not weighed down as I have found with products previously, an essential with my normally lank, fine hair. The scent also lingers really nicely on your hair without seeming overpowering or artificial due to the use of essential oils.
In conclusion, I think that this is a really great product and I am really glad that it was recommended to me. It works really well, which is all you can ask for from a product and despite using it for several months my hair has not grown over accustomed or overloaded by it. Because decent hair products can be so hard to find, I can see myself sticking with this one for the foreseeable future as I am really impressed with the results I get from it for my distinctly troublesome hair, it also complements the use of the solid shampoo range beautifully.
Summary: A really great natural conditioner.
