If you regularly read my reviews then the chances are you'll have come across one or two of my Lynx product reviews. I have been using Lynx products for a long time and like trying the new products from their various ranges. A few years ago they came out with a hair gel that was not really up to their usual standard but they recently came out with a new hair care range and the time spent in between seems to have really done the trick as the new range is up to the usual Lynx standard. Having reviewed a couple of the other shampoos in the Lynx range I thought I'd review this one which is the latest shampoo from Lynx that I have actually used.
This shampoo comes in a 300ml bottle which is bigger than the usual sized shower gel bottle which you will know from Lynx. The shampoo is a nice blue colour and the bottle has that typical Lynx look. The shampoo does what it aims to do in that it just cleans your hair well. It has a light invigorating scent which will do the job as a shower gel if you have run out. After washing your hair you'll get the lovely lingering scent which has a nice freshness to it and leaves your hair feeling smooth and certainly not greasy. As the bottle is 300ml you will get quite a bit of use out of it which is always good especially when people are cutting back on things in these austere times.
This is an excellent shampoo which goes to prove that Lynx have finally figured out Hair products. The price is around £3 but you can find plenty of offers on Lynx products in supermarkets and places like Boots, Superdrug and Wilkinson. I would recommend the shampoo to anyone who likes Lynx shower gels as not only does it have a decent scent it also cleans your hair extremely well and is a strong product all round. It's certainly one that I would use again and again. I may just get some more next time I do a big shop. It's a product that is worth trying.
HOW I CAME TO USE THE PRODUCT:-
A few weeks ago I reviewed Lynx Dual 2 in 1 Shampoo and gave it a glowing report. When I bought the shampoo it was on offer and so at the time I decided to take advantage of the reduced price and bought one of each to try them and see which one best suited my hair. I recently finished the 2 in 1 shampoo and I am now trying Lynx Just Clean shampoo.
DESIGN AND PACKAGING:-
This shampoo comes in the same-shaped 300 ml tall plastic container as the other shampoos in the range. The Just Clean variety is blue and black with the Lynx brand name in front of a smokey effect pattern. The black top is hinged and flips up when you press the button on the front of the lid which I find to be very useful as it makes it easier to use when you're in the shower. On the reverse of the bottle, it claims 'A shampoo that makes hair easier to style. You'll be the first to notice the fresh scent and invigorating feel. She'll be second. For touchably clean hair'. There is then a list of all the chemicals and ingredients that the shampoo contains.
MY EXPERIENCE USING THE SHAMPOO:-
I have what I consider to be fairly normal hair - it's quite short and not what I would call either greasy or dry - just kind of average. This shampoo states that it's for Normal Hair, so I would consider that to be OK for my hair condition. The shampoo itself is blue in colour and a fairly thick consistency - not as thick as the 2 in 1 shampoo, but that is only to be expected because it doesn't contain conditioner. I've found that you don't need a lot to build up a nice lather - just a short squirt into your hand - then massage it into your wet hair as usual and rinse it off. It has a slight fragrance - quite fresh - it's difficult to describe but there seems to be a slight smell of menthol together with a sweet almost flowery odour.
The shampoo does seem to clean my hair, although once I rinse it off I can no longer seem to smell the fragrance, but that doesn't really worry me. What does, concern me though, is that after a while my scalp seems to be rather tight - it doesn't itch or hurt, it's just a noticeable tightening effect. I don't understand this as I didn't get this feeling with the 2 in 1 shampoo and the ingredients are practically the same (although of course the 2 in 1 contains a conditioner). Also, it leaves my hair feeling a little greasy. I've even tried using a separate conditioner and I still get that tightness in my scalp, although the greasiness goes away. I will persevere with this but if it's still the same after a few more days then I'll stop using it and go back to the 2 in 1 shampoo which seemed to be perfect for my hair. I suppose one good thing is that if I use it enough it may tighten my scalp sufficiently to give me a face lift - now that would be a bargain!
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
I've checked online and I notice that this shampoo does not seem to be available in any of the major supermarkets at the moment, which is strange because it's still being manufactured by Lynx. You can buy it in Boots where it's on offer right now reduced from £3.49 to £2.62, so I don't know if Lynx are going to stop production of this or if it's merely a marketing ploy to get people to buy newer products in the shampoo range.
Although this shampoo makes my scalp slightly uncomfortable and leaves my hair a little greasy, it may be perfect for other men - just because it's not suitable for one doesn't mean it's the same for others. All I can suggest is that if you like the Lynx range of products, try this if you can find it on offer. For me, though, I will give it a miss in future. It does clean my hair but because of the problems I've found I feel that I can only award it a maximum of 2 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope you found it useful.
I am a bloke who likes the Lynx range of products and for this reason I was well chuffed when I found some Lynx Just Clean Shampoo on an offer of buy two for a fiver. They normally retail at the ridiculous price of £3.50 for a 300ml bottle, which I think is way too expensive. I hadn't used a Lynx shampoo before, so I didn't know what to expect. I have, however, used their deodorant and body spray and I have been very pleased with the quality of the products in this range, so I was expecting it to be fairly good, at least, especially considering the price.
I have used this shampoo a few times now over the past few weeks. My other half has resisted the urge to try this out herself - unlike me, who uses every kind of shampoo she buys. I liked the way this bottle stands up in the shower and doesn't easily topple over, due to its shape.
The shampoo itself is a pale blue gel like formula and comes out of the dispenser easily. It is a fairly thick consistency and it lathers really well. I only need a small amount and this creates plenty of lather to cover my long red hair, facial beard and almost the rest of my body - especially if I use the other half's little scrubber thing se often has hanging up in the shower!
The small of the shampoo is great too. It's a very blokey kind of smell, not at all girly or feminine and it rinses off well without any bother at all. I am well-impressed with this shampoo.
I don't think there is any need to use a conditioner afterwards, either, as I found that all of my hair (head and entire body) was soft and downy yet not prone to fly away ends. It seemed more manageable and definitely more under control - especially the beard. I smelled nice for ages afterwards, too, and it made me feel fresh and clean and quite 'lively'.
Overall, I do really rate this shampoo for blokes. I don't think a woman would be quite so impressed though, due to the packaging and / or the smell, but I do rate it and highly recommend it.
Having over the years used other Lynx products including their shower gels, deodorants and anti perspirants I decided that I would give their shampoo a shot when I saw it on offer but does it live up to the standards set by previous Lynx products or is it just a money maker with no substance?
- Well designed packaging means that you can easily store this as the bottle stands up with ease. The quick opening lid where you need to simply press in a button at the front of the bottle means that even with wet hands you can quickly get the lid open and when your done simply push the lid and the click confirms it is shut and won't leak.
- The shampoo comes in a blue gel which is of a consistency which is not too watery that it is going to be wasted by slipping through your fingers but also not soo thick that it won't froth or lather up. This is a great plus for me as it cuts down on waste and thanks to it lathering or frothing up well then you only need a little each time making for a great value for money product.
- Leaves your hair clean, fresh and soft with ease.
- After each and every wash you notice the fresh scent which comes with the great feel of clean and soft hair.
- Rather expensive for a shampoo which many may consider to be a new brand due to them not having much experience in producing hair cleaning products with a bottle of this costing about £3.50 for a 300ml but if you look around then you can find deals on this like £2 a bottle or £5 for 2 bottles which makes it much better value.
Overall I have been very impressed with this shampoo and clean and fresh it leaves my hair feeling. The fresh fragrance that you have throughout your day after you have washed your hair is something I have not found in many shampoos and I really do love about this. Shop around and get this on a deal and it is a very worthwhile product as it will last for a while thanks to you needing so little each time and the fact that the bottle is designed in a way which should ensure no leakage.
