Once I started work several years ago, I decided I needed to start making more of an effort with my appearance. One of the things that needed sorting was my hair. I have below the shoulder length straight-ish red hair which i wash about twice a week. It is quite thick hair as a whole, but I get a lot of small frizzy bits that tend to stick up after a while and wind or moisture in the air makes them worse. I started straightening my hair but still had the flyaway bits so went to look round the hair care section of Boots. I decided to try the Mark Hill De-frizz shine and control spray because it promised miracles and looked pretty! I've been using this product on and off for the last 5 years.
---About the product:
The Mark Hill De-frizz Shine and Control Spray is designed to 'keep unruly hair under control'. It is made with sea-silk, bamboo extract and sea shield extract to rehydrate hair and leave it shiny and frizz-free. It is designed for all hair types and should leave hair manageable and easy to style. The product is part of a range of Mark Hill's De-frizz range and it is recommended you use it with those products. The product comes in an attractive pink bottle with a darker pink lid that you take off to reveal a pump action spray.
---Using the product:
I usually use this product after straightening my hair. I use a Botanics spray to protect my hair whilst straightening it and then I use the de-frizz spray once the hair is straight. I spray it all over my hair, using it most on the areas that surround my face and any other areas where I get sections that frizz. I then brush it through to make sure I get even coverage throughout the hair. I have also used this when I'm not straightening my hair to try to keep it looking straighter for longer. It also has a very pleasant smell.
I have found this product to live up to the claims made on the bottle. It helps calm my hair and after using it those flyaway strands stay where I put them and remain that way for several hours. I find that my hair feels very soft after using this and not sticky at all. My mum tried using this product as well and she found that it felt too much like hairspray and made her hair sticky and solid. After talking to her, I discovered that she didn't brush her hair afterwards so I wonder if that would have helped her. I know that when this product gets on my skin it does feel very sticky so I think brushing ot through helps to spread it out more through the hair to avoid the 'firm hold' effect.
The only issue I have ever had with this product is with the bottle itself. It looks very pretty sitting on the shelf and the lid is easy to get off the bottle; the only problem is the pump spray. I have found on a couple of ocassions that the pump gets stuck and I have to be quite forceful with it to make it work. This might be due to the fact I don't use it continuously so it might get slightly dried in the pump. Other than that I have found this to be an excellent product.
I would definitely recommend this product as it has worked wonders for me. Because of my mum's experience with the product, I would have to say that it might not be suitable for everyone but I think it is well worth a try. It costs around £6 for a 150ml bottle but if like me you only use it on special ocassions, then it lasts ages.
