      Great blonde hair brightener.

      -----------------------
      Why use So Silver shampoo?
      -----------------------
For anyone who has blonde hair with a tendancy towards brassiness, this product is a must have item. It brightens and neutralises unwanted yellow tones. If your blonde hair fades after time and starts to look a bit on the dull side, this shampoo will illuminate and brighten the blonde in your hair giving a revitalising look. It also enhances grey and white hair.

      ----------------------------
      How to use So Silver.
      ----------------------------
It is advised to do a skin allergy test 48 hours before using this product if you have a tendancy towards sensitive skin/scalp issues.

On the bottle it also states to wear gloves when using this product as staining can occur, however, I myself never use gloves and I've never experienced any staining of the skin.

You use it like a normal shampoo. Wet the hair and apply, you can choose to rinse it straight out, or leave it on up to 5 minutes. I leave it on the full 5 minutes and it really works well at taking away that yellowy tinge you can sometimes get with blonde hair, giving you a lovely bright, clean looking blonde colour, with no yellow tones.
It's not adviseable to leave it on any longer than the advised 5 minutes, as it can take on a purpley tinge if you're not careful. Also don't use it every time you wash your hair, as again, it builds up on the hair and you will end up with the 'purple rinse' look.
I use it every second or third wash and this seems to eradicate this problem from occuring.

Use your normal conditioner after use.

      Overall Opinion.
      -------------------
I have been using this product for approximately the last 2 1/2 years on my blonde hair and I absolutely wouldn't be without it. So much so, that I now buy it in 1 litre bottles as it works out cheaper. If I'm going on holiday, I simply decant some ito a smaller bottle.
I also use it on my horses mane and tail to get them nice and white! It works a treat!
It has a nice 'clean' salon smell to it too.
I have tried several other silver shampoos from different brands, but this one is by far the best I've found.
The cheapest price for 300 mls is £7.49 from Amazon.
I would highly recommend this product and I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Good product

I probably bleach my hair every 7 to 8 weeks then apply ash blond toner to achieve ash blond colour rather than yellow blond. I then maintain my hair colour using Matrix So Silver shampoo. This product is designed to brighten and neutralise unwanted yellow tones on grey, white or bleached hair. Therefore this product is aimed for those who either have grey/white hair or want to maintain their blond hair colour without their hair having any unwanted yellow tones. This shampoo has been recommended to me by my hair dresser to start with and so I chose to purchase this one although there are different brands of "silver shampoo" available on the market.

This product is in the white slim tall 300 ml tube with the flip top lid. As bottle is white in colour, you are not able to see how much shampoo is left in it. Front of the tube states name of the product and what is it for, back of the tube explains instructions for use. You may think this is silly reading instructions on how to use a shampoo, however this is not a day to day use shampoo and I would recommend just reading over the instructions if you are using it for the first time.

This shampoo very dark purple colour, it is quite nice colour actually, and has a bit of silver shine to it. It doesn't have very pleasant smell thought, it smells bit industrial like, I suppose because it has some bleaching agents in it. I find that I need good amount of shampoo to get decent lathering, I have short hair so to me is not massive problem however I can image, for someone with longer hair, this might not be ideal especially for the price you pay which I come to later.

Skin allergy test is recommended before using this product as well as using gloves. I have done none of those but as I do not suffer with any allergies and was ok bleaching my hair I just used this product (my hairdresser used it well before I started using it home anyway). I never used gloves either and had no problems but if you have sensitive skin I would use the gloves.

I am quite happy with this product, I find that it keeps all yellow tones out of my hair and so ash blond colour is maintained. It does however make my hair very hard and nasty feeling and I always have to use hair conditioner after using this shampoo to make my hair nice and smooth again and also makes my hair smells nice. So far I have only used this "silver shampoo" so cannot compare to another brand.

I maybe just mention, you will not see the difference in your hair straight away, the difference in hair colour is only noticable after regular use.

I haven't seen this shampoo in the shops anywhere yet (or maybe I wasnt looking properly yet). It is however widely available on line on ebay, feelunique, lookfantastic or amazon websites sells it. Price of this shampoo is around £8-£10 depending where you buy it from which is very expensive to me considering the quantity you get as well and I only justify buying this product by having short hair therefore shampoo is lasting quite a long time. This shampoo should not be used on a daily basis and so making it last even longer.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I get my hair bleached and toned up to a very light blonde. Although I love my colour, sometimes it turns slightly 'buttery' in colour, not so much brassy, just kind of golden, and it looks odd with my skin colour so a preferably ashy colour blonde suits me far better. I live in Australia so there's limited ways of getting products from the UK and US, but one of the salons where a huge range is Hairhouse Warehouse. I went in looking for a toning shampoo, as shampoo is the only thing that can tone, any conditioner that claims to tone is a load of bull. Nonetheless, the sales assistant pointed Matrix Solutionist So Silver shampoo out to me, telling me it'd basically turn me platinum blonde. It was pricey, $23.95, but well worth it, he was right, every single buttery tone was gone within seconds, brilliant product!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      -

As a girl unhappy with my natural hair colour, I do get my hair professionally coloured which means taking it from medium brown to a more golden brown. The only thing is it has a reddish base meaning that it can tend to go slightly coppery if in the sun or if the right shampoo is not being used on it and the brassy look is not really very nice. Last time I got my hair coloured my hairdresser recommended that I use a Silver Shampoo of some kind, specifically Matrix's one as it is a good sized bottle. She said this would neutralise the brassy tones and give the colour warmth with a blonder base like what I come out with originally when it has just been done.

I had never heard of Matrix or their products until this recommendation. They are an American company who have expanded overseas, the company was founded in 1980 by Arnie Miller and it is now the no.1 professional hair care company in the States. They do products which look at colour, hair care, styling and giving texture to hair. The products are now in 50 countries and over 300, 000 salons worldwide which is very impressive.

So, the bottle is a very distinct style, it is in a tall white pearl effect bottle and has the Matrix logo on the front. It is part of the Solutionist range which it states and has the so silver type. It is in a 400ml bottle and has a snap lid to open up and get the product out.

The bottle has directions of use such as if you have had a reaction to hair colourant to not use this as it might give a bad reaction, it also recommends to use gloves when applying but I never do this. It recommends a skin test 48 hours before using and if there is itching or redness then obviously do not use.

The shampoo has a nice smell almost sweet, it is quite daunting at first as when you squeeze the product out of the bottle a purple metallic liquid comes out which did make me wonder if my hair would go this colour which scared me. It almost looks like liquid metal and it seems quite a thick colour to it but the shampoo is not too thick itself. It does look bright but don't be fooled by it just use it like a normal shampoo. Make sure hair is very wet as it doesn't lather as easily as some shampoos.

Once hair is wet, then apply the shampoo it will create a purple foam and the water will run purple when it rinses out. I usually apply the shampoo twice like my normal shampoo and then apply a conditioner afterwards just to keep the hair in good condition.

Once the shampoo is rinsed out I normally towel dry hair and then get the hairdryer out and blast the rest dry. It definitely enhances the colour to give a nice golden blonde colour to it cancelling out the coppery notes and makes the colour a lot better looking. They recommend this shampoo if you dye your hair white blonde as well to get rid of the yellow look or if you have highlights to keep the colour enhanced.

The shampoo can be bought at select salons but on the official website located at http://www.matrixhaircare.co.uk you can click on the salon locator and this will tell you which salons nearby you stock the products.

I purchased my So Silver shampoo about two months ago and it still has about half left in it. It is good value for money even if pricey; it doesn't need to be used with every shampoo, only when you feel the colour is losing its vibrancy.

The shampoo cost me roughly £10 in a salon but some websites like http://www.salon-collective.co.uk sell the 400ml bottle for £9.95 which is ok but when you consider postage then it is best to just find your nearest salon.

The official website has a list of products in the Matrix range and a bit about the company. The shampoo is definitely worth the money it keeps my hair in great condition, it has a good colour to it which never fades and if you are colouring your hair this will definitely help a lot.
