I try and take really good care of my hair because I know that if I don’t it can start to look damaged and dry with all the abuse it goes through on a daily basis what with straightening it and using a blow dryer and products etc.
I try and make sure that I use a good deep conditioning mask on my hair at least a couple of times a week to keep it in tip top condition.
I have used a lot of Matrix products before as my hairdresser stocks them and I have found them to be quite good. I didn’t actually buy this from her though as I saw it in an online shop and as I had just freshly coloured my hair I bought it to try and attempt to keep the colour looking as bright and vibrant for as long as possible.
This deep conditioning mask is designed for coloured hair to deep condition it and help keep colour as bright as possible in between colouring treatments.
The mask comes in a pot and it was a lot thinner than I expected as usually deep conditioning treatments are a little bit thicker. I liked the fact that it was a more express mask and only needed three minutes instead of the usual 10 to 15 that most of these masks take.
I just shampooed and then applied this for a few minutes before washing off. Once it was washed off my hair felt nice and soft but I was a pretty dissapointed in this. Although it left my hair soft and it felt conditioned it didn’t really leave it feeling or looking as conditioned as I expected given that it is a deep conditioning treatment. It felt more like any normal conditioner rather than something that was supposed to be intensive. it wasn’t horrible by any means but I don’t think it was quite as intensive or as nourishing as it should have been given that it claimed to be a deep conditioning treatment. I also didn’t think it prolonged the colour of my hair any more than a normal conditioner would.
I paid something like £8 for this and for that price I did expect it to be better than it was. As I said it was fine for normal hair but if you have damaged hair or hair that is particularly coarse and wild then I don’t think that this is going to be intensive enough and I wouldn’t recommend it for those hair types. The only hair types that I would probably recommend it to would be people with greasy hair as it is light enough that it shouldn’t weigh your hair done or cause it to look greasy.
