A bargain way of beating the grey.

Sensation Natural Vitamin C Permanent Hair Colour Cream: Costing £1.50 from Tesco, this is a permanent hair dye by the brand 'Mellor and Russell'.

I used Shade 13 - Natural Light Brown: There is a range of shades, but not as extensive at the mainstream brands - the colours are more basic and limited.

The writing on the label promises "100% Grey Coverage, strong and vital hair, radiant long-lasting colour", and the product is recognisable by its' green and yellow packaging with a picture of a model on the front sporting the colour in question. The box contains:

      Tube with colour cream 45ml
      Phial with oxidant 45ml
      Directions for use
      Protective Gloves

The amount that you get when you have combined the colour cream and the developer lotion seems less than other brands: My hair is thick but only medium length, and I usually find that there is plenty to go around. With this brand, however, I find that it is quite sparse and not very generous, so it makes it a bit more difficult to spread through the hair.

You leave it on for 30 minutes, during which time I found that it did not drip, so I was able to do other things with that half an hour.

After this time, you rinse it off, which I found I could do easily and smoothly, with not too much effort.

Unlike more expensive hair dyes, there is no conditioner to apply after the colour, however this is not a problem for me because A) I have my own already, as do most people, and B) At only £1.50 per box, I can hardly complain!

The colour is, as promised on the box, 'Natural Light Brown', although I actually only want it to cover grey! My hair looks pretty good, the greys are well covered, and the colour is quite rich and shiny. Overall, I am really pleased with this little bargain. I will definitely buy it again next time I see the little silver streaks popping through (Which is usually about 2 weeks after the last time!).
