Advantages: Um...... I'll get back to you on that....
Disadvantages: It looks disgusting, it smells disgusting...it *is* disgusting!
It has the look and consistancy of snot. It smells like something car mechanics clean their hands with. It isn't, in other words, something I would consider a luxury hair care product. Yet strangely, this is how the Michaeljohn "Salon Formula" leave-in conditioner is packaged. All shiny silver bottle and pump action, sleek and stylish - suggesting the product inside will do the same for your hair. Well, if this is the salon formula, remind me never to go to one of their salons! It is supposed to be infused with relaxing aromatherapy essense, but it just smells ghastly beyond words. Whatever perfume oil they put in it, it was too much by half. It left my hair smelling horrible and I got paranoid that other people would smell it too. None of this would be so bad if the product actually did the job it was supposed to do: Namely, "Smooth out the frizzies whilst providing the hair with a continous protective coating" (plus a hundred and one other claims that also failed to deliver). Instead of smoothing my hair, it left it feeling dank and greasy, really weighed down and floppy looking. Worse - there were still frizzy bits! Somehow it managed to make everything greasy but those! I only put a tiny amount on, too, or I could have understood it. Basically this is yuck city. There are hundreds of better hair care products out there. I don't know what the rest of the range is like, but after this disaster I wont bother with them in case it's a waste of money. Also, I wouldn't recommend travelling with this product. The pump neck cannot be turned to an off position, and despite having wrapped it in several carrier bags and tissues, it still managed to leak out. Once you press the pump down, it continues squirting out for ages after you've taken your finger off, and dribbles all over the place. I suppose I could have used this as axel grease
or something, but I've binned my bottle now. Maybe this would be suitable for *someone*... I just can't think who, or why!

- 23/11/00 It is pretty disgusting stuff, alright... You have to wonder who tested the product before it was put on the market...and why nobody listened to them! |

- 22/11/00 Michaeljohn Leave-in Enriching & Smoothing Conditioner - three time winner of the annual "haircare product that most resembles a bodily product award".
I used to have some of it, when my hair was longer, and I think my bottle met a similar premature end...! |
