I have now been using only Morton brown shampoo and conditioner for a number of years, I could never go back. My hair is lovely and shiny, I am always getting compliments on it and my hairdresser always comments on how soft it is. Though it is very expensive, nowhere near as much shampoo needs to be used as with cheap supermarket brands, a bottle can easily last me over six months of daily use on my long thick hair. This, I feel, makes the price significantly easier to swallow when you consider quite how many cheap bottles you would have to buy in this time frame. The smell is fantastic, and lasts all day, I have never found another shampoo which matches it for scent. My sister has quite dry hair which is moisturised by the shampoo and mine can be quite oily but it can also cut straight through that. Often I don't even feel the need for conditioner because the shampoo does such a good job all on it's own.
I first started using Molton Brown stuff when I stayed in a hotel where a full gift set of molton brown things was left for us as a christmas gift.
The bottles are really nicely designed, they look classy, they look great on the shelf, and are usually really unusual colors. This one is a light brown/yellow and it comes in a clear bottle with a chrome cap. One weird thing about the bottle is that it has 3 'growths' on the side around the top edge, they look slightly odd but are quite useful because it gives you something to grip onto in the shower, meaning you don't spill any of the precious expensive liquid!
The are expensive, about £16 each- but they look great, and make really nice gifts. You'd have to be quite flush to shower with this every day but as a treat it really improves the showering experience as it smells to great and fresh, one of the nicest smelling shampoo's i've ever used.
Unfortunately the product didn't work so well for me in terms of revitalizing my hair, in fact it left it clean but a little dry and I definitely had to condition my hair. Your milage may vary so I recommend trying some out and forming your own conclusions
**** Introduction ****
I was first introduced to Molton Brown a few years ago when I was going on holiday, I bought a travel hair care pack from the duty free shop as they were on sale.
The Molton Brown pack promised to nourish, strengthen and protect my hair while I was on holiday. So for the bargain price of £12.00 I managed to get a shampoo, conditioner and serum which came in a handy bag that now contains all of my make up.
**** The Shampoo ****
The shampoo is called hair revitalizing shampoo and came in a 200ml clear plastic bottle with a screw off lid, the packaging is not at all appealing and very basic but my sister informed me that is was a very good band and such a cheap price.
The shampoo is aimed for all hair types and can be used on a daily basis, it nourished and maintained my hairs natural moisture while it was getting exposed to the sun and the chemicals from the swimming pool, which is something I always struggle with when I am on holiday.
I used this everyday and my hair did not feel dry of damaged in the slightest, I feel that this shampoo worked wonders as it contains keratin which is basically liquid hair that repaired and re-structured any damage as it was occuring.
This not only helped keep my hair nice, shiny and fully nourished throughout the holiday but it also improved my scalp which can become very dry when it is exposed to the sun for long periods of time.
**** My Views ****
I bought this to control my hair while i was on holiday, but I would also recommend this as an everyday shampoo as it kept my hair beautiful after I returned home.
I do not have a Molton Brown shop in my area so I always stock up when I am away and I spot a shop.
This is expensive at 8.50 a bottle but it is a beautiful shampoo that really helps me, so I don't mind the heavy price tag attatched.
I would recommend this for anyone going away as it helped keep my hair tangle free and healthy while I was away.
I was given this product as a Birthday gift and have since become addicted to most Molton Brown products! This is a really great shampoo. It has a smooth syrup-like consistency which lathers up really well without the need to use too much. It rinses out easily and leaves your hair feeling squeaky clean and your scalp warm and tingly. Like a lot of women I know, I have greasy roots and dry ends and this shampoo is just the trick for anyone with this hair type. My only criticism of this product is the need to use conditioner with it as it can leave your hair rather tangled. Overall, this is a really great shampoo worth every penny as it leaves your hair amazingly clean, shiny, bouncy and smelling wonderful all day. This is the only product I have found that does not leave my scalp feeling itchy and where residue does not build up with long term use. I would recommend splashing out on a bottle if your budget will stretch to it!
For my lovely fellas birthday recently I treated us to a couple of nights in the divine Maison Talbooth hotel in the beautiful Constable countryside of Essex, a place of unadulterated luxury and comfort. In the blissfully large bathroom I was delighted to find a delicious array of Molton Brown goodies. I had carefully packed a wide selection of pretty dresses, sandals and handbags and in my excitement had managed to completely forget any shampoo or conditioner. Now, my hair is a not very natural blonde, lets face it my poor tresses have been so abused over the years Im awaiting a knock on the door from some department of the social services!
Luckily help was at hand in the form of a generously large bottle of Molton Browns Healthy Hair shampoo. I was very concerned that as there was no conditioner, and the bottle did not promise to soothe the ravages of chemicals, I would have to spend the evening with hair like candyfloss. I stood in the extremely large walk-in shower and nervously contemplated the plastic bottle of amber liquid and realised Id just have to hope for the best and trust Molton Brown would deliver. Having spent the afternoon in the hot tub my hair was in desperate need of good clean and condition, if only to rid it of the very mild chlorine smell. The bottle had a handy little pump so it was easy to extract a couple of small squirts
The scent as I began to rub it into my hair was wonderful; a very refreshing clean smell with a certain zinginess to it. The shampoo was of a lovely consistency, thick enough to feel very posh, but not so thick it didnt bubble up quickly. Now at this point I got a bit worried that the end result may end up with me insisting on a room service dinner and hiding my abused hair under a towel all night, as I could feel a nasty edge of roughness in my hair as my fingers massaged the bubbles about. It wasnt helped when I began my usual second wash, nor when I rinsed it al away. I was interested to find that all the bubbles rinsed off very quickly and easily, although this was possibly helped by the fact that I was standing under the biggest shower Ive ever seen
On exiting the shower to survey the result in the mirror, I was still apprehensive as my hair definitely looked significantly coarser than it usually does. So, hurriedly wrapping my head turban style on a one of the fluffy white towels I wandered out to have (another) glass of champagne to try to calm my fears. Eventually I plucked up courage to go and deal with this situation and face the ordeal of getting a comb through my bedraggled locks
But wait! Imagine my surprise when my comb did not come to an abrupt halt in the middle of a knot of tangles. Admittedly it wasnt going through quite as smoothly as when I condition properly, but it was surprisingly easier than I had been dreading. And after a quick blow dry I was amazed to find my hair actually looked pretty good, nowhere near the strawlike result I had feared. All I needed was a quick spritz of my shiny gloss spray and I was on my way out for a swanky dinner, looking pretty good, if I do say so myself
I used the shampoo a couple of times a day during our stay, mainly because of using the hot tub such a lot! And then on our last morning I used it one last time. What I did find interesting when I got home was how long my hair stayed feeling fresh and clean afterwards. Normally I have to wash my hair every other day as, probably due to the conditioners, it begins to feel lank, but after three days my hair still looked, felt and smelled fresh. I did wash it then but just because I felt I ought to
Having checked on Molton Browns website I have discovered that the shampoo has extracts of ziao jao, keratin proteins and chlorine neutralisers. Now I have no idea what ziao jao is, but I giuess that is what makes it smell so good, the keratin probably what helps it look good, and the cholrine nuetraliser was great for after the hot tub. Molton Brown have an excellent range of all things lovely for the body and hair, so I will try not to spend my entire wages on tings to go with the shampoo! They are also nicely green, using recyclable packaging and do not test products on animals, which is nice for a hippychick like me, it means I can look and smell good without guilt!
Come payday I am going straight to my nearest stockist and getting my mitts on a bottle of this heavenly shampoo. At around fourteen quid for 300 ml it isnt the cheapest hair care product, but it is going to worth every penny, as I only need a small amount, the effects last a long time and I end up smelling like a fresh spring morning!
You may have noticed I'm very keen on how products smell, it can certainly make me buy or keep using something if it's got a gorgeous scent. Well this is, I think, absolutely the nicest smelling shampoo out there, especially is you want something that somehow smells really lively and fresh and lingers a bit through the day. (i also love the smell of Aveda Shampure, but this is very different, much 'brighter' and better for mornings). The shampoo itself is, like all Molton Brown stuff, all natural with no animal ingredients or testing, which means it's great for my scalp which tends to react to anything harsh. It's very concentrated (again, like the rest of the range), so a little bottle lasts for a very long time. If i'm going away I actually use this all over as a shower gel, again because of that smell and it seems gentle enough not to irritate (the price below is for the smallest bottle)
This is a strong contender for best smelling shampoo ever! It's great to use just because of the fresh and invigorating smell - especially in the mornings. As for its effect on the hair, well it seems fine, if not especially remarkable in any way. It cleans well and rinses easily and leaves hair very fresh-feeling. I have pretty fragile hair and haven't noticed any problems at all in using this. It's not what I use all the time but for those bleary mornings it certainly makes me feel better about getting out of bed
