I've always loved the Montagne Jeunesse range of face masks but hadn't tried many of their other treatments, until I received a small hamper selection for Christmas a couple of years ago and fell in love with this gorgeous Chocolate Infusions Intense hair mask. I have pretty long hair which needs a lot of TLC, using this mask twice weekly keeps it looking sleek and acting more manageable than if I just daily shampoo and condition alone.
To use this hair mask you wash your hair as normal then squeeze as much water out after you've rinsed as possible, apply the contents of the sachet and allow it to work it's magic for a few minutes. Rinse, and your hair will be smooth, tangle free and healthy looking. It's not designed for a specific hair type, but promises to benefit dull and lifeless hair. Long hair is often dull and I can honestly say that this mask really does make my hair look a million times better; it adds shine, seems to be able to tame those odd loose hairs that ruin your look and actually makes my hair both look and feel so much healthier.
It smells delicious, a rich milk chocolate aroma which doesn't fade for the duration of the time you're relaxing with your hair smothered in this wonderful smelling mask. After rinsing the sweet and rich fragrance lingers on my hair for hours, sometimes when I swish my hair I'll get a whiff of the chocolate and it's good to know that this is how I'm smelling to other people. An occasional hint of honey is also apparent, never enough for me to say that the mask out-and-out smells of honey but it definitely takes the edge off the richness of the chocolate.
Montagne Jeunesse recommend you leave the hair masque on for 2 - 5 minutes, which I think is about right although it doesn't have an adverse effects if you let it soak into your hair for longer. I leave it on my hair for the maximum recommended time and that's perfect for the thick cream to penetrate and nourish every strand. It rinses out easily, you need to pay attention to the hair behind your ears as the masque tends to cling here but once you've directed the rinsing water at it you'll rid yourself of all traces within a minute or two. After rinsing my hair immediately feels amazing; I can pull a comb through it while still wet without encountering a single tangle or knot, this being a minor miracle for me as my hair knots up at the mere thought of water! The mask doesn't weigh my hair down in the slightest, this surprises me every time as it's such a rich cream - you need to make sure not to get it near the roots of your hair if you err towards greasiness, I tend to leave an inch of hair uncoated near my scalp and concentrate more on the length of my hair as this is where most benefit can be taken from the mask. The first time I used it I applied it all the way down to my scalp and was left with horribly greasy feeling hair, it was strange because my hair didn't look as though it had been overwhelmed (and looked healthily shiny as opposed to greasy) but it felt awful both on my head and also whenever I touched it with my fingers - I quickly learned a lesson and since I've been avoiding the root area of my hair I've had no problems of this nature at all.
I'm massively impressed with the silky feel of my hair after using this mask, something that is apparent for at least a couple of days afterwards. This effect has the downside of sometimes making my hair a little unmanageable if I'm trying to style it, but having long hair I rarely wear it any other way than down or in a ponytail anyway so this isn't really an issue for me. I'm pretty sure it's whatever shampoo I'm using before the mask that causes this, but I can't narrow it down too much as I have so many bottles of shampoo on the go at any one time!
I buy mine in B&M, where their reasonable range of Montagne Jeunesse masks are usually on some sort of special offer or another. Full price the mask is anything from £1 - £1.40 depending on where you shop, for me it's worth even the higher end of the price scale and that's why I've continued to buy it for eighteen months - other hair masks have come and gone in that time, but this is one I return to as it's so good for my hair. A single sachet of Chocolate Infusions hair mask is enough for my long hair but I do find myself having to use it more and more sparingly as my hair grows, my daughter has much shorter hair and has said she can get two applications from one sachet - apparently it doesn't store well once the sachet has been opened though and she complained that it was sticky after a couple of days, so it's probably best to use it all in one go anyway.
For my birthday this year one of my friends made me up a pamper kit with various treats in it for me to use. One of the items in the kit was a Montagne Jeunesse chocolate infusion intense conditioning hair treatment. I have used quite a few of the Montagne Jeunesse face masks as I like to use them quite frequently as a way of having some "me" time but I hadn't seen a hair treatment until I received this one.
The hair treatment comes packaged much the same as the face masks and so I immediately knew it was a Montagne Jeunesse product. The pack is a foil lined one which features a picture of a smiling woman with the hair treatment on her hair as well as pictures of slabs of chocolate as well. We are told that this product contains chocolate and kukui oil and is an intense conditioning hair treatment. Apparently chocolate is strengthening, kukui oil is healing and it also contains nourishing honey to moisturise and soften your hair.
I used this product in the bath so that I could fully appreciate having a hair mask on whilst relaxing. I washed my hair thoroughly and then ripped open the foil packet and squeezed some of the hair mask on to my hand. The mask is a rich chocolate brown in colour and quite thick much like any other intensive conditioner I have used in the past. This one really does just smell lovely as it has a very sweet chocolatey scent which whilst it is artificial it is still lovely in my opinion. I squeezed out half of the contents of the sachet to apply to my hair and I personally found that this was plenty to cover my hair without feeling as though I had over applied the product. My hair is quite long, around shoulder length, and so I was pleased I would be able to use this product again should I like it.
You are advised to leave the hair treatment on your hair for two to five minutes before washing it off and I left it the full five as I wanted to make the most of the relaxation time! When I washed the product off my hair I have to say my hair did feel really soft and whilst the chocolate scent wasn't as noticeable on my hair as it was still there faintly.
My issue with this product came when I started to dry my hair after my bath. My hair is very thick and can be quite a pain to dry at the best of times but it was virtually impossible after I had used this mask as it just felt heavy and somewhat greasy to be honest. I had to actually wash my hair again the very next day as I couldn't cope with how heavy and greasy it was where I would normally was it every couple of days. I didn't use the rest of this product on my own hair as I didn't like the results but I did use it on my son's hair a couple of times and it seemed to work ok on his hair. These masks can be bought for around £1.20 but I won't be trying this one again as it just didn't work well for me at all which is a shame because it smells lovely.
Thank you for reading my review!
I bought a sachet of this from a local discount store for 99p.
I found the product easy to use. You simply apply the product to the hair after shampooing. Squeezing the product out of it's packaging is a little messy but the product is easy to work with. It's not too runny so you can apply it to your hair without it dripping everywhere. I would recommend towel drying your hair first before applying the mask as it works better that way.
I have used this mask a few times now and it always leaves my hair soft and shiny. It has a delicious scent and it really helps to improve the condition of my hair. I have dry hair as I colour it and this really helps to sort my hair out. It softens my hair whilst taking away the dry "straw like" feeling. My hair is also easier to manage (and style) after using this mask and it's easy to rinse out of the hair too. Plus it doesn't build up.
The mask can be left on the hair for as long as you like. I have left this on overnight before and washed it off in the morning. Using the mask this way gives it more time to work. You can also wrap your hair in a warm towel whilst leaving the mask on to help it work better.
I would recommend this mask. It smells great and it's good value too.
For Christmas again I've been rather spoilt by friends, family and most of all by my partner. One of the gift's I received from my partner was a huge bumper pack of Montagne Jeunesse products, containing lots of different facial masks, Conditioning hair products, bath, feet and leg items all of which I shall enjoy trying and reviewing!
Montagne Jeunesse Chocolate Infusion - Intense Conditioning Hair Treatment 20ml:
'Oozing with natural minerals, immerse your hair in strengthening chocolate'
I was happy when opening up to find a box of these goodies; I had never seen hair products by Montagne Jeunesse before only facial masks and cooling leg gels but never hair and bath products. So as always when it comes to something new I couldn't wait to try it out.
In this we have chocolate which helps to strengthen and condition hair, kukui oil which is for helping to detangle hair, give it some moisture, protect and leave hair soft and shiny which it certainly does. The last main ingredient in this mixture is honey containing mineral, amino acids and vitamins to help nourish your hair.
When opening the packet I was hoping for a rich milk chocolate aroma but instead it had a dark chocolate scent, still very nice! Kind of like the dark chocolate drink from Highlights Cadbury's.
Following the instructions given after shampooing my hair I tore open the sachet and applied to my hair as my hair is very thick and long just past my shoulders I was thinking maybe I need two of these sachets to cover my hair. Indeed I was right I had applied one sachet but it only covered just over half my hair lucky in my bumper pack I had four of these.
The conditioning cream is a milk chocolate colour and is of medium consistency, spreads over the hair easily and is easy to handle.
Once applied all over I waited for around five minutes for the cream to work it its magic well I was hoping for it to work its magic anyway. After the conditioner had been on my hair for a few minutes I noticed the dark chocolate aroma fading into more of a milk chocolate fragrance like a Dairy Milk from Cadbury's (I do sound like a chocolate obsessed fan)
When rinsing my hair under the shower I noticed the water was a chocolate/mud colour draining into the plug hole; kind of like when you have dyed your hair. So I waited for the water to run clear before wrapping my hair up into a towel.
I noticed instantly my hair has a glossy shine and felt very soft even though my hair was still wet. I gave it a rub with the towel then gave it a brush before setting lose on the hair dryer. Even though I gave my hair a good rub with the towel which usually will cause a few knots the brush gliding down my hair with ease! Fantastic as I hate it when my hair knots up.
I could still smell chocolate's but only lightly, and when drying my hair with the hair dryer I had a little hints of chocolate floating around which was rather nice. Once my hair was completely dry I was very happy with my results; very soft to touch, silky/glossy and no knots leaving my hair feeling in wonderful condition.
Once my hair was dry though the chocolate scent had gone which really is the only down point for this brilliant conditioner.
How to use:
The easy part - All you have to do is shampoo your hair as normal, rinse the shampoo completely from your hair then apply. Relax for two to five minutes before rinsing off, then dry hair as normal.
Price and Availability:
Now as I have never seen this before I had to ask my partner where he got this from, where I found out he purchased it from the main Montague Jeunesse web site for £1.25 per packet.
From the Montague Jeunesse web site I'm told the relaters are -
Amazon.co.uk, Asda, Boots, Blackledge, Claire's Accessories, Co-op Pharmacies, Home Bargains, Holland & Barrett, Morrison's, New Look, Click Health & Beauty, Sainsbury's, Savers, Somerfield, Superdrug, Tesco, T J Morris, Wilkinson's, and W Boyes & Co Ltd
A wonderful treatment for your hair to give it a little helping hand and a new lease of life now and then; contains no added parabens and smells great when applying. I would certainly recommend this product but as my hair needs two at a time this will remain an occasional treat for me.
This product is recommended for weekly use only and is for all types of hair.
Even on the next day my hair still felt the same and had a lovely looking healthy shine to it. It didn't leave it heavy or over greasy like some conditioning treatments I have tried in the past. My hair was light but not fly-away, no knots and looking healthy. Perfect!
Very glad I gave this a go and would definitely be on the look out for more hair treatment by Montagne Jeunesse following the results I've had.
Four out of five stars from me (Minus one star for not holding its lovely fragrance)
Thanks for reading :o)

I totally adore the Montagne Jeunesse chocolate face mask and I have liked most of the range that I have tried so far so when I was nosing through their website and I saw the chocolate infusion intense conditioning hair treatment I had to have it. My hair is naturally thick and curly and as it is damaged from many years of colouring, it tends to be frizzy. It cost me £1.25 from the website.
The treatment contains natural minerals as well as chocolate to strengthen, honey to nourish and kukai oil to heal. The packaging says the treatment will protect, moisturise and soften your hair to make it silky and glossy. The treatment is recommended for weekly use. As it contains natural oils and minerals, you are recommended to do a sensitivity test before using this treatment.
Directions for use
Shampoo your hair as normal, apply the treatment to your hair and leave on for 2-5 mins before rinsing.
When I opened the sachet, I was living in hope that it would smell like the chocolate face mask. I was certainly not disappointed. It smelt exactly the same, liquid Galaxy all ready to smother over my hair. The treatment itself is a rich chocolatey brown colour and is a great consistency for easy use. It wasn't too thick but not runny enough to drip everywhere. I had way more than enough to do all of my hair with a thick coating and my hair is shoulder length. I left it on my hair for 5 minutes and struggled the entire time not to eat some of the treatment as it smells so good.
I found the treatment easy to rinse off my hair and it is easy to tell once it is all off as the water in the bottom of the shower stops being brown. While I was rinsing, I could tell my hair was smoother. I towel dried it and then brushed my hair. I noticed straight away that less hair broke off while I was brushing it and I had no knots in my hair at all. My hair looked super shiny while it was damp. The smell does stay on your hair for a while but it is a really dampened down version on the smell of the treatment which was a bit of a shame. My hair was really shiny when it dried as well as being smooth and frizz free. I was really impressed with this hair treatment; it is just as good as the Frizz-Ease and Aussie range of deep conditioners. The next day, my hair was just as manageable and soft as well as looking super shiny.
