I'm a member of the Living Social deals site, and spotted one day that there was an offer available for a basket of Montagne Jeunesse goodies. I took up the offer and was very excited to receive a parcel containing lots of assorted products. I'd tried the brand's face masks before but not their other products, so I was looking forward to giving them a go.
Montagne Jeunesse is a Welsh company based in Swansea which makes beauty products for the face, body and hair, the majority of which come in colourful sachets. Many of their products are available on Amazon and from stores such as Savers, Boots and Superdrug, and they can also be obtained from the website, http://www.montagnejeunesse.com/. The brand is approved by the Vegetarian Society and the BUAV, so you can use the products in the confidence that no animals have been harmed in order to produce them.
One of the products I received was the Frizz Miracle & Ultra Shine Serum. Like the banana foot buffer and butter, this is a two-part sachet that can be separated, containing two different products. It comes in an eye-catching pink sachet with a picture of a woman with her hair covered in the mask. The sachet states that the product is designed as a fix for split ends, frizzy and permed hair and is made with aloe vera and hibiscus. The first part is a masque and the second a serum.
*Frizz Miracle Masque*
This is the bigger part of the sachet and is designed as a single-use product. You are meant to shampoo your hair, rinse, then apply the Frizz Miracle from roots to tips. After leaving it on for 5-10 minutes, rinse hair and dry as normal.
Using the masque was straightforward. It had a pleasant light scent and was of the same consistency as most conditioning products. I massaged it into my hair, using all of the product, and left it for the required time. I experienced no scalp or other irritation during this time. After rinsing it off, I found that my hair felt soft and smooth to the touch. As I used the serum straight afterwards I can't really say whether it was the masque, the serum or a combination of the two that created this positive effect on my hair, but positive it certainly was. It was no miracle worker but it did make my hair feel softer and appear less frizzy.
*Ultra Shine Serum*
This formed the smallest part of the sachet, but as only a small amount was needed, I was able to use it on several occasions. The serum was clear and had a normal serum consistency, oily in feel but with a pleasant scent. To use it, I rubbed a small amount between my hands and massaged it into the ends of my wet hair before drying and styling as usual. As with most serums, you have to be careful not to apply too much, but if you only use a very small amount, this shouldn't be a problem.
I find that most serums are pretty similar in the way that they work and this was no exception. It added a little control to my hair without being an obvious styling product, and helped it look more smooth and shiny. I definitely feel that the effect on my hair was positive.
I took this sachet on holiday with me - the only hair product other than shampoo and conditioner that I packed - and I feel I was right to do so. The masque treatment was ideal to treat my hair one day and the serum provided light styling for the duration of my break. The product was no miracle worker - it didn't transform my dry, overprocessed hair into sleek, beautiful tresses - but it did have a distinct positive effect, making my hair more smooth and shiny. I believe it helped protect my hair from the elements , which is good, as I was outdoors a lot. The sachet format was very handy and convenient to slip into my suitcase.
I would definitely recommend this product as something to take on holiday with you. It works as a treatment and styling product on your hair in one - you won't need to take any other styling products with you. Another great idea from Montagne Jeunesse!
When it comes to masks, Montagne Jeunesse offers a wide range of different mask for the face, legs, feet and even for your hair. Most masks are focused on women but the brand also has masks that focus on men. Although this product has clearly a woman on the front, I think both women as men can use this product.
The packages of Montagne Jeunesse masks normally have the same shape. Normally the cover is different with a woman or a man who seems to enjoy the mask. With this sachet you can see a woman enjoying her hair mask. On the back you can read how to use this mask and also which ingredients it contains.
The reason for using this mask is that it cleans your hair and that it makes it silky soft. It also gives your hair a fresh smell. Using this mask is easy. Before using this mask you need to make sure you have washed your hair and that your hair is towel dry. You need to open the green part which contains the mask. When you open the sachet you will notice the fresh grapefruit smell. You need to massage the mask into your hair and leave it for about five minute. After five minutes you can rinse your hair. When your hair is again dry then you can apply the pink part of the sachet. This transparent substance feels a bit sticky but is relative easy to apply. You leave this in your hair.
As a result I can definitely feel that my hair is softer, cleaner and it smells nice and fresh. It has a bit of a lime scent in the end which is really pleasant. For less than a pound this mask is worth the money!
As you may have gathered from my previous reviews on Montagne jeunesse face masks I am a bit of a fan so when I saw this on for a hair mask I thought why not may as well give this ago double the pampering power! Guess what 89p from good old Home Bargains.
Right so what's this one about?
This one is a 2 part pink grapefruit 'frizz miracle conditioning hair mask' Right now from looking at the front it looks like you are going to cake your hair in pink butter cream icing yummy lol. The back shows a picture of a before and after shot of a women looking all sad with her frizzy hair. She then looks happy because she has blow dried her hair straight and it's all shiny. There is then another picture of the same women when she has towel dried her hair and now appears to have a tight perm which is needless to say shiny lol. You are of course suppost to believe this is what will happen to you if you use this product, luckily I always take these things with a pinch of salt.
So how do you use it.....
First off shampoo and towel dry your hair.
Step one: Frizz Miracle
17.5ml of pink grapefruit conditioner which unfortunately does not look anywhere near as thick as the icing illusion on the front bit of a let down but oh well. Your tear the sachet open on the pink side if the lady with icing on her head is facing you will be greeted by the smell off grapefruit - nice and fruity. You then work the conditioner through your hair making sure its all covered you are then advised to leave it for 1 minute before rinsing personally I leave it about 5 because I leave my normal conditioner about 1 and I think of this one a treat so leave it longer before washing out. The conditioner is the same thickness as any other conditioner I have.
Step 2: Ultra shine serum
I separate my hair with a crocodile clip and then work serum through all over my head combing it in so my whole Here you have a choice leave you hair to dry naturally for curls, well for me this is never going to happen as my hair is naturally straight. So I go for option to blow drying my hair. Now as I have said in previous reviews I am not very good at the art blow drying I just brush my hair and blast the air onto it and hope for the best.
Well my hair does feel and look more shiny and frizz free than if I had used my normal conditioner but I still need the good old strengtheners if I want to look like the women on the back of the packet but it's still good results. 5 stars recommended.
Only because I liked this packing so much, I bought this Frizz Miracle masque a few years back. It was great and since that time I use it every 2 weeks.

*Ingredients* I won't bore you with details about all the ingredients, but will give some information about the main ingredients in this hair mask.
Aqua - Purified water
*How to use this hairmask* First of all, make sure you havewashed your hair and rinsed it so it's clean. Make sure your hair is towel dry. Then start by opening the green part of the sachet, which contains the actual mask. You can tear this part open from the left to the middle of the packing. Immediatly you will experience the grapefruit smell from the mask. Now apply the mask to your hair, just massage it in. Wait for 5 minutes and then rinse your hair. When your hair is towel dry again, you can use stage 2 (the pink part of the sachet) which contains a serum that protects your hair. This is a transparant substance that I think feels a little bit sticky. Apply this to your hair and leave it in. The serum has a bit of a lime scent that refreshes your hair. Now your done and your hair should be fresh, cleaned and soft.
*What's the effect?* The mask cleans your hair and it makes is silky soft, very nice I have to say. Besides that it also gives your hair a fresh smell. Great!
* My opinion* Great mask, not as pink as displayed on the sachet but absolutely effective. I've got soft and silky hair afterwards, my husband told me my hair smelled fresh and that's what I want from a hairmask.
I had decided to treat myself this month as the weather has been so bad. Having two horses and being out in all weathers doesn;t do your hair much good (wearing a flourescent orange wooly hat probably doesn't help it either). When we got to Asda they didn't have any of the aussie 3 minute miracle sachets that I would normally get and as I was buying Montagne Jeunesse face masks and all the product range was on offer at 4 for £3 I decided to get a couple of different hair products to try. You can buy it seperately for 97p too which I think is a great price. My hair is naturally curly and frizzes up really easily. I have been colouring it for the last 15 years too so you can imagine the state it is in.
The normal odd shaped Montagne Jeunesse packet says that this procuct contains aloe vera and hibiscus and is meant for split ends, frizzy and permed hair. It also contains pro vitamin B5 and panthenol. My packet was different looking from the one pictured being all pink but it is the same frizz miracle 2 stage product. The lady on the front seems to have a thick coating of pink product on her hair. The instructions say to shampoo, rinse and then apply frizz miracle from root to tip and lave for 5-10 mins. You are then advised to blow dry or towel dry your hair before applying the ultra shine serum in small amounts before drying and styling as usual. This product is suitable for vegetarians and is not tested on animals.
When I looked at the packet in the shower I was slightly concerned that there wouldn;t be enough frizz miracle for my hair which is just over shoulder length and quite thick. I had to open the packet with my teeth as I couldn't do it with wet fingers. The packet can be opened from either side so there is no worry about the serum coming out at the wrong time. I needn't have worried though as there was plenty of frizz miracle to nicely coat all of my hair. It is pink in colour and smelt really fruity and good enough to eat. It was just the right consistancy too. Leaving the product on my hair for 10 mins meant I had an excuse to stay in the shower for ages and warm up after the bitter wind we have had to day so I got an extra treat. Unlike some products I have used before, this one didn't start to drip onto my shoulders half way through, it stayed exactly where I had put it. It rinsed out easily and my hair felt noticably softer even during rinsing. I towel dried my hair and even then I could see it wasn't as frizzy as normal.
The ultra shine serum smells divine. I only needed a 10p size amount so that leaves me with enough serum for another 3-4 washes (yippee). Again the serum was just the right consistancy and I put a bit on my hands, rubbed them together and ran them through my hair. My hair was tangle free and easy to brush and the extra shine was starting to show then.
I am really pleased with this product and for the price it is unbelievable. I have used much more expensive products before that haven't worked as well as this and didn't smell anything near as nice. I will definitely be buying it again.
Since becoming a member of dooyoo Ive found that Im now able to treat myself a lot more and buy things I usually wouldnt have the money to buy. This was one of my more cheap treats and the other day with £60 worth of amazon vouchers burning a hole in my computer? Lol I decided to treat myself to a top to toe Montagne Juenesse gift set. Id just bought my mom a set for her birthday so I knew I would not be disappointed when I got this and eventually got around to using it.
I have the worst hair on the planet. Even though it is naturally straight I find after a shower or when Im out in cold weather it starts to frizz uncontrollably and no matter what I put on my hair nothing seemed to help. I thought I had tried everything until I tried this, the first thing that has ever worked.
I say this on all of my Montagne Juenesse reviews but the application for this can be a little messy. It comes in a small plastic sachet which you have to dig your fingers into to get the "miracle cream" out so I advise applying this in the bathroom or somewhere you can easily wipe clean.
Now according to the back of this sachet you are meant to leave this on your hair for just 1 minute. Now that did not seem long enough for me at all and I didnt think it would give long enough for the magical ingredient to properly sink into my hair so I made the choice to leave it on overnight and wrap my hair up in a pair of tights (Ill leave you with that image hehe) and my theory behind that was the longer I leave it on, the better the results.
And EUREKA. I think that may have just worked.
The woman on the image for this review looks nothing like I did when I applied this. It wasnt a bright pink colour at all which didnt bother me but I thought it might be worth mentioning. It is in fact a sort of glittery peach colour but dont worry the glitter does not stay on your hair!
This has the same kind of consistency as everyday conditioner and you apply it in exactly the same way. Just coat your hair in this cream from root to tip (whilst your hair is dry) and at this point you can brush threw your hair with a comb to make sure it is distributing evenly. Ive never bothered with that part personally but its up to the individual I guess.
Getting It Off:
You simply wash this out the exact same way as you would rinse out conditioner and your hair sort of feels like you have just properly conditioned you hair. Really soft and best of all has no knots which I really liked because usually when I have wet hair it is really unmanageable. So getting it off couldn't be easier.
There are actually two different sections to this cream. One half is the fruity cream which you have just washed off and the next part is a serum. Now this part worried me because the sachet of serum looked quite big and I was told to apply it all on the back of the packet. This worried me because I thought it would make my hair look really greasy as when I apply serum usually I only use a really tiny amount and I find that works fine, but anyway I progressed.
You simply divide your hair up into sections (it doesnt matter how large each section is or how many you choose to have) and try and comb some serum evenly into each piece of hair. Dont do each piece of hair more than once because then it will look greasy and nasty when it dries. This is pretty easy to do because no real skill is needed and I know I couldnt have done it if there was any skills required haha.
After using this I waited for my hair to dry naturally because that is the reason it usually gets so frizzy so that was the first test. And Im happy to say it passed.
I decided to quickly run the straighteners over my hair when it had finished drying because I was going out to the pub and I wanted to look really nice. After I had straightened my hair a quick peek in the mirror told me everything I needed to know. My hair not only felt really soft and nourished but it looked fabulous as well and it looked proper shiny without being glittery. Now whether this was down to the cream or the serum I dont know but whatever it was I was pretty chuffed with the results up until this point.
Now came the real test. Whether or not my hair would frizz when I hit the cold air outside.
FAST FORWARD ABOUT 4 HOURS.
When I got home from the pub I was expecting my hair to look like a birds nest as I had been sitting outside in the cold all night and my hair always gets messed up when I have anything alcoholic lol. But I was absolutely gobsmacked to find that my hair looked just as good after 4 hours outside as it did when I had first straightened earlier that day. As I mentioned at the start of this review nothing makes my hair not frizz but this one actually did and Im so happy that I tried it. Ive tried some of the bigger named brands and their products that claim to stop frizz but this the cheapest one I have ever tried certainly worked the best and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I paid a fiver for my whole top to toe set but I think individually this costs less than £1 so it is amazing value for money. This can be picked up in most chemists and I know they stock it in Bodycare so its worth taking a peek in there.
Im not going to gush anymore about how fantastic this product is because I think everyone has guessed by now how much I like it. All I can say is try it for yourself and trust me you will be amazed at the results.
Thanks For Reading

Not only has being a member of Dooyoo enabled me to feel less guilty about buying products (as I can make an albeit minimal amount of money back off them), gave me a little more pocket money for buying more things to review but also it has gotten me a few freebies here and there. Some of these have come from other wonderful members of the community, and the latest of such, was this hair mask courtesy of sandra101 - thank you so much!!
I know how she feels, when you have tried a product you love, and you just want the rest of the world to realise how great it is too. I know myself I've waited for people to try things I've recommended in the past, and when people do try it off your recommendation and they love it, it's a great feeling - I guess it's what Dooyoo's all about (well that and the free cheques!).
I had noticed a comment from sandra101 about how great this hair mask was on a review of Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle, saying how great this stuff is in comparison to that and how she can't wait for someone else to try it, this sparked my interest enough to read the review, and the review had me wanting to try it - now!! Lovely as she is sandra101 sent me a sachet, and I couldn't (but had to) wait to try it out!
As you may have all gathered I've been more than a little busy of late, in fact that's underestimating to the utmost. Along with neglecting Dooyoo somewhat, I've also been neglecting myself - gone for the most part are the evenings of pampering - I know, it's upsetting to say the least!
On the verge of collapse but desperately needing to wash my hair before I went bed (as I wasn't getting up at 5am to wash and dry it in the morning) I opted for a bath instead of a shower, as at least I could relax in the bath. Since I was going to be relaxing in the bath I decided it would be a good opportunity to use my hair mask. Having a read of the sachet it said to apply the mask and leave it for one minute. Since I was having a bath I decided I would leave it on much longer than that, I was quite surprised for a mask it only stated to leave it on for 1 minute as this doesn't seem much time at all. I'm all for the theory the longer something is on your hair, the longer it has to penetrate and let the ingredients work their magic. So, whilst it's good that if you're in a rush you can use this in just 1 minute, if you have longer I would personally say leave it on longer. I left mine on for about half an hour while I had my bath.
On the front of the sachet it shows a woman with a thick pink mask on her hair. I don't know what she has on her hair, but it isn't this product. Not a huge issue, just a little odd to show it completely different as it is. In fact it comes out in a light peachy pink colour that looks a bit pearly and a bit like some conditioners. It says to apply all over the hair from the roots to the tip, after shampooing like you would any conditioner, which was really easy to do. It kept my hair tangle free which made it easy to distribute it evenly. When on the hair you can't see it at all. Your hair just looks wet, which, it is!
The packaging of mine is different to that shown on the Montagne Jeunesse site, and it was a reduced sachet, so it may have been changed somewhat since this version, but mine was fragranced with Pink Grapefruit. I wasn't sure I'd like the fragrance but I surprisingly did. I really liked it. I could smell it when I'd applied it (before I got in the bath) but as soon as I got in my (Frosty Gritter) bath I could only smell the bath, which was a good thing for me as I love the smell of the bath! When my hair had dried I could still smell the fragrance lightly on my hair. It was just a nice amount of fragrance, not at all over powering, but nice for anyone up close and personal!
After you have had the mask on for however long you've decided to indulge for, simply rinse it out like you would conditioner. I found after this it was left feeling very soft and tangle free and manageable. Now the other half of the sachet comes into play, which is a serum that you are told to apply to your hair, in small sections at a time. The serum looks very similar to John Frieda and didn't have any distinctive smell. I combed it through sections of my hair, which I just separated roughly - you don't need to be precise, it's not time consuming, just make sure you're not reapplying over the same sections or your hair could become greasy. I used the full sachet of serum, which was a little worrying for me, as I'd find one pump of serum to be enough normally, so I was a little concerned I'd wake up looking like I'd stuck my head in a frying pan.
On my sachet it shows pictures not un similar to what used to advertise John Frieda's Frizz ease serum. I'm not sure if John Frieda still uses them or not but they just remind me of when I first saw it. It has a picture of a woman with frizzy hair, and then two examples of it after using it with the product - one styled straight and sleek, and the other left to dry to create lovely defined natural curls.
Now, since I was so tired, I decided to leave my hair to dry naturally over night, and go for the curls look. This also works out quite well for you guys, as sandra101 went for the drying it and straightening option - so there are reviews of how it works both ways!
When I leave my hair to dry naturally (literally do nothing to it, just leave it down, don't touch it and let it dry) it does go into quite nice naturally curls. They aren't tight bouncy curls like on the packet, more loose curls but they do look quite nice. However, with curls, comes dry looking hair more often than not, so I can only wear it like this after a good conditioner. This was absolutely perfect for it. It didn't weigh my hair down which would cause the curls to basically not happen, but it nourished and moisturised my hair so that it wasn't dry, and the serum made them defined and shiny without looking greasy.
I was really surprised given the amount of serum I used that it didn't look greasy after using it. Not only that but on the second day it still looked as good as it did on the first day, and (although it's embarrassing to admit) by the third day (yes, I still hadn't washed my hair - eek) it still looked quite good - not greasy, but not dry!
As to the original claim - is it better than Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle? Well, quite possibly! I prefer the smell of the original Aussie to this, although this does still smell great. On performance, they both perform well, but I think this does perform better! However, the thing (as well as the smell) that Aussie have over this is you can buy bottles of the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, whereas this only comes in the sachets. The sachet was easy to open and actually wasn't as messy and annoying as some can be, but I still would prefer the option to buy a bottle of it.
You are actually getting decent ingredients for your money too, as it's not just full of things that fake good hair, it's full of beneficial ingredients that will truly nourish your hair.
It has pro-vitamin b5, lime peel extract, orange peel extract, lemon peel extract, grapefruit peel extract, bergamot leaf extract and mandarin orange peel extract! Like a lovely nutritious fruit cocktail for your hair!
Pro-vitamin b5 strengthens the hair and is excellent at conditioning it. It's brilliant at moisturising the hair without weighing it down - which is exactly what I felt happened with this product - it conditioned my hair without weighing it down like some treatments can, which is perfect if you wish to have your hair curly.
Lime peel extract contains vitamins A, B and C, which have a whole host of benefits for the hair. It also keeps the hair fresh and dandruff free.
Lemon peel extract is rich in vitamin C and also prevents dandruff alongside the Lime Oil. As well as this it regulates the sebaceous glands, making sure hair is not greasy but also not dry, and it also gives the hair great shine.
Grapefruit peel extract stimulates the hair follicles and can actually promote hair growth, as well as keeping the hair healthy and strong.
Bergamot leaf extract keeps hair shiny and strengthens the hair shaft. It also treats the scalp by preventing impurities and build up of products.
Finally the mandarin orange peel extract makes the hair fresh and bouncy as well as conditioning it and giving it shine.
Everything the ingredients should do they did. My hair was left nourished and shiny without being weighed down or greasy - what more could you ask for in a product?
I like that for 99p you not only get your hair mask, like you would with other similar options on the market (Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, Naked Hair Rescue etc) but you also get the serum too. The results of the two parts of the sachet used together exceeded the results of other hair masks I have tried, and not only is this better compared with other things of a similar price on the market but it is a million times better than Lush's H'Suan Wen Hua , which if you read my review you will know how much I hated!
I really liked this product, and would enjoy using it again, and perhaps trying out what it is like used when hair is blow dried and straightened, although it is perfect for using for leaving my hair to dry naturally. If I could change one thing I would beg Montagne Jeunesse to start to sell bottles of the stuff, as sachet's could work out quite expensive, for only one use per go, and because it's so much easier to use and store a bottle.
Montagne Jeunesse also does three other versions of this: Volume Miracle Conditioning Hair Mask, Hot Miracle Hair Reconstructor Oil and Moisture Miracle Conditioning Hair Mask. I really want to try all of them. Although I didn't buy my sachet of this I have seen Montagne Jeunesse hair masks in supermarkets and in Ethel Austin (usually reduced in there) before but hadn't paid them much attention (since I hated their face mask so much) in the past. I will now keep my eye out for this though and for other versions to try out as a little treat. They are also available direct from the website with free delivery which is great, and the website also states they are available to buy in various supermarkets, Argos, Boots, Superdrug, Savers, Claire's Accessories and various other stores.
At 99p a go, there not a cheap habit if you want to use them regularly, and I do wish they were available in a bottle, but I would definitely use this again as a treat, and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone whose hair goes curly or wavy when left to dry naturally, but can appear dry without a little help along the way!
I have very dry, thick frizzy hair which goes into 50's style waves as it gets longer makes me look about 60. I have had to keep my hair cropped and sleep on it to flatten it before the invention of straighteners it grows out rather than down. I have now managed to get it down to my shoulders.
I have found that blowdrying, straightening etc have made my hair in worse condition and feel like I have spent a fortune on straightening creams, protectors, conditioners etc. Even after using GHDs my hair is not 100% smooth and sleek.
I tried the Frizz miracle as it was only 99p and I wouldn't be left with yet another half used bottle in the bathroom if it didn't work. The sachet is split into two halves. You apply the frizz miracle conditioner and leave for at least one minute after shampooing, I normally leave it on while I'm having my shower then rinse at the end. Word of warning cut the sachet before getting into the shower its almost impossible to open with bare wet hands. The smell is gorgeous really feels like a treat (pink grapefruit). When you rinse your hair will feel silky smooth. Towel dry then open the ultra shine serum I find that I only need to use half of it for amazing results so save the packet for next time.
Once dried and straigthened my hair shines and the cuticles look much smoother. This is a miracle product for me and I highly recommend it - also at 99p for a trial go you are not exactly breaking the bank. Panic - I haven't been able to find it lately in my local stores but discovered I could get it on line at www.montagnejeunesse.co.uk with free postage.
Only con is I wish I could buy the conditioner and serum by the bottle as it can be messy if you want to save some product once its opened. Also its expensive if you need to use it every wash. (But worth it)
