      Fresh and shiny hair

MOP Lemongrass Shampoo is made for fine hair and is designed not to dry it out or weigh it down. It's formulated with lemongrass, chamomile and calendula to help fatten up skinny hair and enhance golden tones. It's priced at £12.95 for a 300ml bottle.

      My thoughts

I quite like the packaging for this product, although it quite plain and simple the shape of the bottle makes it quite different to all the other bottles on the shelves. It has a flip top lid to make it easy to use.

The shampoo has a mid consistency, it's not too thick or too runny. It has a lovely fresh citrus type scent which smells very natural and not over sweet or artificial. It really is a very fresh and uplifting scent which I love.

It lathers well from just a small amount so even though it's expensive you're not using as much as with cheaper shampoos so it works out as good value still. It feels nice and refreshing on my hair and scalp as I massage it through. It rinses out easily and doesn't leave a residue or leave my hair feeling heavy or coated in product.

Once my hair has dried after using this I find it feels very fresh and light. I don't think it gives my fine hair any more fullness or volume, but rather leaves it feeling kind of weightless. It also feels soft and smooth, and this shampoo definitely doesn't fry it out.

It seems to add a lot of shine to my hair which makes it look really healthy, but I don't think it enhances golden tones like it's meant to, my colour looks just the same with or without this shampoo.

      Recommended?

Yes, I would recommend this shampoo if you want something to leave your hair really fresh and light and shiny as this does just that, however if you're expecting extra thickness or volume I think you'll be disappointed.

'fatten up' your hair with this shampoo

I'm not brand loyal when it comes to shampoos and conditioners, I'm happy to use whichever products happen to be on offer or seem to be the best value. I also tend to splurge on premium haircare products and then just use them occasionally so that they then feel like an indulgent treat.

The most recent premium haircare products that I purchased were the MOP Lemongrass Shampoo, MOP Lemongrass Conditioner and MOP Lemongrass Lift It Spray. I've used other MOP hair products before and really liked them, and so I was happy to give the Lemongrass products a try. The MOP Lemongrass Shampoo is £13.60 for a 300ml bottle, I bought mine from John Lewis, but they also sell MOP products in Selfridges and Harvey Nicks as well.

MOP stands for modern organic products. MOP products are not tested on animals, and don't contain any artificial fragrances - the only fragrances contained in MOP products are those created by the organic fruit, vegetable and herb ingredients. Some of the MOP products are even suitable for Vegans, the Lemongrass Shampoo is one of those which is suitable. MOP Lemongrass Shampoo is paraben free, it is not however sulphate free or gluten free.

The Lemongrass Shampoo comes in a squarish shaped bottle with a flip top lid. The squarish shape makes the bottle easy to hold and use in the shower with wet, soapy hands. The top of the lid is flat, so that when the bottle is nearly finished you can stand it upside down on its lid, which I like because it then makes it easy to get the last few bits of shampoo out as it will naturally settle at the lid end, I like to ensure that I use every last bit of expensive products so that I can feel like I'm getting my money's worth!

The bottle states that it's for fine hair, and that it helps to 'fatten up' skinny hair. My hair is quite fine, and could certainly do with some help to 'fatten up'! I'm sure that as a child I had very thick hair, maybe all those years of colouring, straightening and tonging have finally taken their toll on my hair!

The shampoo itself is quite a thick and gloopy shampoo, and I do really only need a very small amount of this to create a very rich and foamy lather in my hair. It is very easy to rinse out and it leaves my hair feeling nice and squeaky clean in the shower. This feels like a very soft and gentle shampoo, and it feels really kind and soothing and moisturising on my scalp when I wash my hair with this. This feels really moisturising on my hair as well, as sometimes some shampoos can feel like they are stripping my hair of its natural oils, but not so with this one, this one feels like it's actually adding moisture and nourishment to my hair.

The shampoo contains extracts of certified organic lemongrass, chamomile and calendula. And it smells really lovely, it smells really natural and fresh, the only scent I can pick out is a hint of lemons, it's really more of a clean and refreshing fragrance I would say. The gorgeous fragrance fills the bathroom when I wash my hair, and it lingers in my hair for absolutely ages, I can still actually smell this in my hair the following day.

Once my hair is dry it feels and looks very healthy and very clean after using this shampoo, and it is so superbly soft and shiny after using this along with the Lemongrass Conditioner. I find my hair to be just as easy to style after using this shampoo, in fact I probably find it easier to style as it feels in such good condition, and is so soft and shiny. The shampoo along with the conditioner seem to smooth and tame my hair, it's less flyaway, and it's certainly much sleeker. I have to also say that my hair even looks slightly thicker and bouncier when I've used the Lemongrass products, my husband has even commented on this aspect too and it honestly takes a lot for him to make a positive comment!

Although this was very expensive for a shampoo, a little bit of this really does go a long way and the bottle will last me for ages as I do only use this occasionally for a treat. I love the fragrance, and the fact that it lingers in my hair for so long. And finally I'm more than happy with the condition that this leaves my hair in. I'd certainly repurchase this. In fact I'd probably use this all the time if it was cheaper.
