I'm not brand loyal when it comes to shampoos and conditioners, I'm happy to use whichever products happen to be on offer or seem to be the best value. Sometimes though I will splurge on premium haircare products and then just use them occasionally so that they feel like a treat.
My most recent premium haircare products purchase was the MOP Pear Shampoo and MOP Pear Detangler. I've used other MOP hair products before and really liked them, and so I was happy to give the Pear products a try. The MOP Pear Shampoo is £12.95 for a 300ml bottle, and you can also get a 50ml travel size or tester size bottle for £3.50. I bought mine from Harvey Nicks, but I've also seen MOP products in Selfridges and John Lewis as well.
MOP stands for modern organic products. MOP products are not tested on animals, and don't contain any artificial fragrances - the only fragrances contained in MOP products are those created by the organic fruit, vegetable and herb ingredients. Some of the MOP products are even suitable for Vegans, the Pear Shampoo is one of those which is suitable.
The Pear Shampoo comes in a squarish shaped bottle with a flip top lid. The squarish shape makes the bottle easy to hold and use in the shower with wet, soapy hands. The top of the lid is flat, so that when the bottle is nearly finished you can stand it upside down on its lid, which I like because it then makes it easy to get the last few bits of shampoo out as it will naturally settle at the lid end, I like to ensure that I use every last bit of expensive products so that I feel like I'm getting my money's worth!
The bottle actually states that it is Mop Pear 'gentle' Shampoo, and that it's suitable for infants, toddlers and sensitive scalps. It's not just a shampoo for children or sensitive scalps though as I've read lots of glowing reviews in fashion magazines about this shampoo, which is what prompted me to try it really.
The shampoo itself is quite a thick and gloopy shampoo, and I do really only need a very small amount of this to create a very rich and foamy lather in my hair. It is very easy to rinse out and it leaves my hair feeling nice and squeaky clean in the shower. This feels like a very soft and gentle shampoo, and it feels really kind and soothing and moisturising on my scalp when I wash my hair with this.
The shampoo contains pear purée and soothing aloe vera, and it smells absolutely divine - yummy even! It has a really intense pear fragrance, but not a sweet and sickly fragrance, just a very rich and natural fruity scent of pears. The pear fragrance fills the bathroom when I wash my hair, and it lingers in my hair for absolutely ages, I can still actually smell this in my hair the following day. I can tell that this has the aloe vera in as it is really soothing to use, and does really seem to moisturise my scalp, and even my hair to a certain extent as sometimes some shampoos can feel like they are stripping my hair of its natural oils, but not so with this one.
Once my hair is dry it feels and looks very healthy and very clean after using this shampoo, and it is so superbly soft and shiny after using this along with the Pear Detangler. I find my hair to be just as easy to style after using this shampoo, in fact I probably find it easier to style as it feels in such good condition, and is so soft and shiny. The shampoo along with the Pear Detangler seem to smooth and tame my hair, it's less flyaway, and it's much sleeker.
Although this was very expensive for a shampoo, a little bit of this really does go a long way and the bottle should last me for ages as I do only use this occasionally for a treat. I absolutely adore the fragrance, and the fact that it lingers in my hair for so long. And finally I'm more than happy with the condition that this leaves my hair in. I'd certainly repurchase this. In fact I'd probably use this all the time if it was cheaper.
Firsty this shampoo smells great, texture wise its lovely you can tell its high in aloe vera because its nicely gloopy.
Its great for kids and sensitive scalps.
I had a allergic reaction to bedhead products which made me allergic to... well most things :( and it was then that i started to use the MOP products.
I saw they were organic and i had already been using a organic skin care range called 0e, the 0e company actually recommended MOP haircare when i told them about my allergies,
so i started using the Pear shampoo and body wash and my skin started to improve very quickly.
( after using bedhead my skin blistered and it triggered off a series of allergic reactions, i could not even bend my fingers as they would crack and bleed and this went on for over a year untill i discovered MOP :( before using bedhead i was not alleric to anything now i cant use hardly anything, i am a beauty therapist and my doctor told me i had to quit my job :( ).
So when i started using mop i was so happy and i can work again!!
The only thing i would say is that i think the C system range is better for sensitive scalps as the pear range still contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate which is quite harsh, where as the Clean shampoo in the C system range is Sodium Laureth Sulfate free.
I am so thankful for finding the MOP products and that my skin has returned to its normal self!!
Ideal for sensitive scalps, children & infants hair and body, pear and aloe vera moisturise and soothe /
