How I got mine
I thought I had struck gold when I spotted this product in my Glossybox a few months ago. Double lucky as I got sent the box twice by mistake and was the proud owner of two bottles.
What did it do?
Unfortunately it didn't seem to do anything good for my hair, just turned it in to an oily mess. I tried it again using less the next time (virtually none at all the second time) and I got better results and no oily hair!
When I use this mythic oil I spray it in to towel dried hair and it really seems to help reduce the amount of drying time I have to spend on my hair.
Simple is best
I am not one for using a lot of products on my hair, I like to leave it but I know I do need to use the odd conditioning treatment on the lengths and ends of my hair to keep it looking and feeling healthy and I feel this oil definitely contributes to that.
Now I know to use less I am persevering with this product as a lot of people online are raving about it and they must know something I don't about the mythic oil!
Price wise this retails at £12 so to get a full sized product (actually two) in my glossy box was a huge win as the whole box costs just £10 plus P&P so it is nice that one product outnumbered the box cost straight away. I have enough of this to last me over a year so will not rush out to rebuy but will certainly continue to use.
I have a friend who is a hairdresser and she bought me a bottle of this as my hair was in desperate need of some nourishment. I do everything to my hair, from colouring to blow drying and straightening. L'Oréal Mythic Oil is a 125ml pump bottle of beautiful hair oil. With Avocado Oil and Grape Seed Oil Mythic Oil is perfect for all hair types. The oil is easy to dispense from the bottle. One pump delivers just the right amount, depending on hair length and thickness of course. My hair is very long and thick so I often need a couple of pumps to cover all of my hair.
The oil smells lovely and it has a nice consistency. It never leaves my hair feeling greasy and I only wash my hair twice a week as I don't want to rinse out the colour. I use the oil most days as it absorbs right into the hair fibre instead of just coating the hair. I love this about the oil as it goes straight to work and does what it's supposed to do! A little goes a long way with this oil so the 125ml bottle will last you a good while. It's around £15 to buy and you can buy it either online or from hairdresser stocklists.
Mythic oil washes out well and it doesn't leave any residue on my hair. I am able to brush the oil through my hair straight after application and it doesn't clog my brush up. After using this oil my hair feels incredibly soft and shiny and the effect is very long lasting. It also leaves my hair looking straighter as the oil tames flyaway hairs and sticks together split ends. It helps to protect my coloured hair and overall it just does a great job of hydrating my dry/ coloured hair.
Would I recommend Mythic Oil? Oh yes, I definitely would!
A great oil for all hair types.
This is an amazing hair product if you want value for your money. This salon quality product smells lovely, and the scent stays on the hair for a good day. The consistency of this product is quite watery in some respects, but I think that's what makes it work so well, because it makes it more pliable when applying it to your hair and you get a good even coverage. I use it after washing my hair when its still damp and then a couple of drops again once my hair has completely dried, this seems to lock in the maximum amount of moisture. It also contains real oils which is always a must for when I look for hair oils now, as this is what replenishes the moisture levels back into your frazzled locks. When using this for the first time (my hairdresser introduced me to it) I noticed an instant change in the feel of my hair, it became softer, sleeker and had a lovely luminescent shine with out weighing it down and making it feel greasy.
Now after consistently using this product for a few months my hair seems to have completely recovered from all the bleaching and dying processes that I have put it through. I have tried other hair oils before such as Organix and Moroccan Oil but they don't really have that edge that Mythic Oil does. I get My Mythic Oil off Amazon as its good value at around £13 (or even cheaper on ebay), and not to mention a little goes a long way, so it's cost effective even still. I'm still on my first bottle and used only about half. Give it a try if you've got frazzled hair!
Santa was very kind to me at Christmas as I received some lovely gifts, among them was a bottle of L'oreal Mythic Oil. A visit to the hairdressers is a rare treat for me as having three kids and a job doesnt leave much 'me' time, but the last time I went they used some of this oil on my hair and I loved it and did secretly hope that santa would get me some as it is quite expensive for a hair product - but well worth the price.
It comes in a pump bottle, mine is 125ml and is a kind of golden bronze colour and the packaging is a plastic rectangular box which is white and clear. It says on the back that this is 'Nourishing oil for all hair types with a blend of avocado oil and grape seed oil. It leaves hair instantly more supple, tamed and glossy. Immediately absorbed for a lightweight feel and finish. Depending on hair type, dispense 1 to 2 pumps into your hand and apply to dry or damp hair. Exclusive to your hairdresser'.
My husband (aka Santa) bought this for me from Saks Hair and Beauty and after a little investigating I believe he paid around £14.00 for this.
You wouldnt think about using oil on your hair as I always thought it would leave it looking greasy but this product doesnt, I dont think I would use it on dry hair however as I tend to wash my hair and then after towel drying I apply two pumps and rub through my hair. I always find if I straighten my hair wth my GHD's after drying my hair appears really shiny and it also leaves it feeling really soft and light which is a bonus as my hair is very thick, waistlength and darkest brown. I always get people commenting on my hair due to its long length and when I have used this oil it leaves it with a lovely clean smell too.
I have used it quite a lot and yet I still have over half a bottle as a little goes a long way and it says it will last 18 months after opening, so I dont need to drop any hints to santa just yet but I will definitely be needing another one when this one runs out.
I am a regular visitor to my local hairdressers, and I am a sucker for being persuaded to buy thing that are supposed to work wonders for my hair. Years of dying my hair every colour under the sun and excessive exposure to heat have left my hair very damaged and in a very poor condition. One day I was sitting in the hairdressing chair getting my monthly colour, when my hairdresser used this on my hair. It was a brand new product to the salon and she was extremely excited about it!
After my hair had been washed she applied a small amount into her hands and ran the product through my hair. She went on to style it as usual and the result was amazing!! My hair looked healthy (which is very rare for me), smooth, sleek and shiny without looking greasy!! All my split ends (which I have a lot of) were about 70% reduced!
I was so impressed I decided to purchase a bottle for myself. My hairdresser explained to me that I can use the product on dry hair too, just to smooth and add shine when it's looking frizzy or dull! The oil formula nourishes and repairs the hair.
This is one of the best purchases I have made, I use it each time I wash or style my hair. The great thing is that as you only need a small amount (equivilant to the size of a five pence piece) that the bottle will last you a good while. I have had my bottle for about 4 months now and I do use it a couple or more times a week.
Not only does this product give outstanding results it also smells lovely, I can smell the scent on my hair all though the day. The scent lasts longer than any shampoo, conditioner or styling product I have ever used. The oil is so lightweight that it does not weigh hair down, it doesn't irritate the hair and you cannot feel it.
The only down side is that you do have to thoroughly wash your hands after use as the oil residue doesnt seem to dry on the hands!
As I stated in another recent hair oil review, I am using hair oils much more in my hair care routine and find that my hair has definitely improved in condition since doing so. I received the full size 125ml bottle of the L'oreal Mythic Oil in a recent glossybox sample box and have been trying it out in conjuction with some other hair oils since.
The purpose of a hair oil is to add extra conditioning to your hair, this oil contains avocado and grape seed oil to help treat your hair and leave it silky and smooth. I generally run a small amount of this through towel dried hair, although I mostly use this particular hair oil on my dry hair once I have straightened and styled it as I have a few other hair oils which I use when my hair is wet. I only use this product on the lower third of my hair to treat the ends and I steer clear of the roots as they may look greasy if you apply any type of oil there!
Unlike other hair oils I have used, I would say this has a very light consistency, it is a lot thinner and runny although not excessively so and this is actually one of the things I enjoy about this product. It allows me to use this on dry hair as well as towel dried hair, because it doesn't run the risk of making my hair look greasy due to its light consistency and I really enjoy using this to help make my hair less frizzy and a lot smoother and sleeker in the day.
In terms of scent, as with other hair oils I cannot pick out a particular strong scent which I prefer as I don't like to have my hair smell too scented.
The L'oreal Mythic Oil can be bought from most hair salons and also online, it retails for around £10 on amazon currently and the 125ml bottle will last a long time, I generally use only one pump on my hair a day and haven't really made a dent in it yet! I have nothing negative to say about this product and I find it's retail price quite reasonable to I am giving this full marks!
Mythic Oil is a hair treatment oil brought out by L'oreal in June 2011. It's L'oreal's answer to the recent popularity of argan oil products, with the most popular being the Morrocan oil range which nearly EVERYONE seemed to be talking about this year. Mythic Oil is part of the L'oreal PROFESSIONNEL range so it's only available online or in certain hair salons, it's not stocked in boots or supermarkets etc and is usually priced around £11 for 125ml.
So How's it work?
Mythic oil doesn't actually contain any argan oil, instead it uses a combination of avocado oil and grape seed oil to nourish the hair.
Why is grape seed oil and avocado oil good for my hair?
Both oils are very lightweight. Grape seed oil is a very lightweight oil that's very easily absorbed by both hair and skin. It has many moisturising properties, making it ideal for nourishing your hair before and after heat styling by replacing moisture lost in these processes. More moisturised hair tends to be stronger so grape seed oil also reduces brittleness. Avocado oil ia rich in vitamin E and moisturising, both for your hair and your scalp.
How do you use it?
Applying to damp hair - Divide your hair into sections (twist them slightly so they're separated). the product comes in a plastic container with a 'pump action'. I have medium, shoulder length hair and use about two pumps of product. Dispense the product out onto your hands, rub your hands together and then apply it to each of the sections and leave to soak into the hair for around 3 minutes, then dry and style your hair as usual. Once your hair is dry you can use the product again if you wish to add extra shine, concentrating on the ends and mid lengths of your hair.
Apply to Dry hair - If your hair is looking a bit dull and dehydrated you can apply the product directly to dry hair, I've found this has made my hair feel less 'frizzy', especially if I've been caught in the rain a little or been in humid environments.
So how's it compare to Moroccan Oil?
Both products smell really similar, mythic oil smells slightly more soapy though. Moroccan oil is much thicker in consistency, mythic oil is very lightweight. I like the fact that Mythic Oil comes with a dispenser whereas Moroccan Oil doesn't, so it can sometimes be a bit messy to use! Overall I really think this is an excellent product, I will definitely be repurchasing the Mythic Oil as for the price and performance I personally think it just wins ahead of Moroccan Oil for me.
