I needed some shampoo so browsed the shampoo section in my local Boots store. I have coloured, blonde hair so normally buy shampoo & conditioner specifically for blondes or for coloured hair. I regularly change my shampoo and conditioner every few months as I've heard that you hair can get used to the shampoo, so using a different type does your hair some good and also helps to prevent build up. My most recent brand was Aussie which I love the smell of; how-ever I wanted to try something new. I have already used Herbal Essences and wasn't that impressed with the results and I find that the L'Oreal colour protect can sometimes weigh my hair down. I noticed a range in Boots that I have never seen or used before and as it was on offer I thought I may as well take advantage of it and buy some to try. It was also a brilliant chance to write a new review as well!

The shampoo I purchased is specifically for blondes and helps to lighten blonde or highlighted hair. The shampoo contains natural extracts of gentle Camomile, Zesty Lemon and Cassida. No harsh chemicals or detergents are used in Naked products and only gentle plant based cleaning ingredients are used in their products so blonde hair shimmers and looks shiny. The shampoo also claims to lighten blonde or highlighted hair. This sounded like a great shampoo which I really wanted to try, how-ever I was hoping that it wasn't going to smell too much of Lemon as I don't particularly like this smell. The shampoo comes in a tall bottle which has a very pale yellow tinge to it. The top of the lid is beige in colour which has an indented circle which you push to open and dispense the shampoo. On the front of the bottle it states that the shampoo is 97% natural and that it's a lightening shampoo for blonde of highlighted hair. There is a small picture of a lemon on the front of the bottle. On the back of the bottle is some information about the product and how to use it. It's also lists the ingredients, warning information as well as contact information. I decided to smell the shampoo before using so I popped open the lid and sniffed the product. The smell of the product was quite fruity and it smelt really pleasant, there was a tiny hint of the smell of the lemon in there but not much.

You can purchase this from Boots for £3.98, how-ever I purchased this along with the Conditioner when it was on offer a few days ago, which cost me £6.00 for both the shampoo & conditioner.
Using the Product

As with other shampoo's it suggests using this on wet hair, to create a lather. It actually recommends repeating this process again for a much richer lather and for much cleaner hair. After ensuring my hair was wet I press the side of the lid which flipped one side open to reveal a small square shaped hole in which the shampoo comes out of. I squeezed the bottle gently and the shampoo dispensed onto my hand. The shampoo was a yellow gel like colour and felt cold as I dispensed it onto my hand. I rubbed the shampoo into my hair creating a lather which wasn't as much as I had experienced with other shampoos. The product had a very pleasant smell to it which I really liked and I couldn't really smell any hint of the zesty lemon. After washing the shampoo out I repeated the process again. The 2nd time I used the shampoo on my hair the lather was richer than before and I felt as though my hair was being given a really good wash. After I had finishing rubbing the shampoo in my hair, I washed it off. The shampoo washed out my hair really easy. I did purchase the conditioner with the shampoo, how-ever I am going to review this separately to see how much difference using the shampoo and conditioner together is. I wrapped my hair in a towel and allowed it to dry for a few minutes before styling my hair as normal. When my hair is wet I always used a wide toothed comb to comb my hair to ensure there are not knots or tangle. I had to admit that my hair was a little knotty and had a few tangles in it, so I can to go easy with the comb. After I had combed my hair I used my usual staying products which are normally hair mousse and the Babyliss big hair rotating brush. As I applied the mousse in my hair, it didn't really feel that soft. As I used the Babyliss rotating brush on my hair I could smell the scent of the shampoo a little but it wasn't very strong. After styling my hair I looked in the mirror to look at the results. My hair looked and felt really clean and it looked very vibrant and I think the blonde looked much brighter than it had done when using my previous shampoo. My hair, how-ever didn't really feel that soft or look very shiny.

Although I have heard of this brand before this is the first time I have ever purchased their products. I thought the small of the shampoo was really pleasant and was actually really nice which was good as I was expecting to dislike the smell. The shampoo isn't too thick and has a runny texture so you can rub this into your hair with no problems. The lather to the product is definitely better the 2nd time around when using the shampoo on your hair so I will definitely continue to use the shampoo twice before applying any conditioner. Th shampoo didn't leave any residue in my hair and didn't leave me with an itchy scalp. The shampoo didn't make my hair greasy either which I sometimes find with other shampoo's. I have decided to try the shampoo without using the conditioner afterwards so I can compare the results of the shampoo with the conditioner and without the conditioner. I will be writing a review shortly and the conditioner that goes with this product. I love the smell of the product and the fact that's its 97% natural and doesn't contain any harsh chemicals or other ingredients. This is a really good shampoo that makes my hair feel really clean and fresh but used alone doesn't leave my hair feeling soft or very smooth.
