Advantages: Does nourish dry hair, makes hair feel soft

Disadvantages: Doesn't make a visible difference really, doesn't smell nice, not good enough to warrant the price

Amongst the excellent goodies the fella's sister got me for my birthday was a sachet of Naked Rescue Intensive Repair & Renew Hair Treatment Sachet. Always a fan of anything destined to make my hair soft and nourished, I was very excited to use this.

The sister-in-law (as we shall call her, as she's the closest I'll get to one - have you read my review on marriage???) used to have bleached blonde hair, which is obviously prone to being very dry, and she said she used to swear by this stuff as it was the only thing that could get her hair soft again when she was a blondie.

I myself have uncoloured hair (shocking and rare I know!) but it is still quite badly damaged from all the back-combing, heat styling, and general abuse I put it through on a daily basis. Who needs to treat hair nicely though when there are plenty of products out there to make up for all we do wrong to it!

This hair mask is 97% natural which I of course like. I would have at one point never been bothered and thought of all this "natural" stuff to all just be a bit hippy-ish until I started using Lush and Burt's Bees products and realised how much better these natural things work! If you look at the ingredient list, it doesn't necessarily look natural- ie, there's lots of very long unrecognisable words in there - so it's nice to be told that it is all natural.

The treatment contains Argan Oil which is packed full of tocopherol and Vitamin E (containing almost twice as much as olive oil). It has reparative benefits and is easily absorbed. It helps relieve an itchy scalp, and softens and moitsurises dry hair. It also has Meadowfoam Oil, which is rejuvenating and moisturising, gives the hair shine and remedies dry damaged hair. Finally it has Sunflower Seed Extract, which gives shine and helps protect colour from fading. All in all these ingredients make it perfect for dry, damaged and coloured hair.

Interestingly it also contains "parfum", which I say interestingly, because the product doesn't smell nice at all. If you are going to perfume something, surely you may aswell add a nice smell? Here the smell is kind of a musty chemical-ish smell. It's hard to describe, and luckily it's not over powering, but it's certainly not nice in any way.

The sachets of this, at £1.29 are advertised as a "one-hit wonder" which suggests you should use this all in one go. Of course, for a treat this is fine, but what I did find odd is that I didn't use the whole sachet in one go. I say this is odd because I use more product than anyone. I definitely don't scrimp, if anything I waste product by putting too much on, because I really do like to get a load on as in my mind it will do more then. Secondly this is odd because I have almost bum length hair, and a LOT of it. However, I still found I only needed half the sachet of this, so I got two uses out of mine. In hindsight, my results weren't outstanding, so perhaps if I'd managed to pile on this whole sachet it would have worked better, and similarly, if the sister-in-law piled a full sachet onto her short hair, it might have had far more effects than what I got out of this.

The results it did have on my hair were good, just not as outstanding as I would have hoped for, especially if I had paid £1.29 for one use of this. My hair was really soft, I couldn't stop touching it all day it really did feel lovely and soft so it did deliver there. However where I felt let down somewhat is that my hair didn't look amazing. It's all very well it feeling amazing, but not many people are really going to know about that. I know about it, the fella might (I don't think he did notice to be honest), and anyone who I force to feel my hair will know, but people aren't going to just notice when they see me. I want my hair to look good enough for people to notice how good it looks if I'm spending extra money on hair masks and the like! I want it shiney and glossy and bouncy and healthy looking. Unfortunately, whilst it felt softer, it looked pretty much the same as always. Perhaps a little less dry than if I was using a regular shampoo and conditioner, but certainly not better or as good as when using luxury shampoos and conditioners (Lush etc).

I did think the treatment was quite good; it did make my hair softer and clearly did it some good. However due to it's lack of visual effects on the hair, and the lack of a nice scent, I didn't really fall in love with this product.

I doubt I would buy it again, because there's simply better stuff out there. That said I wouldn't be disappointed if someone bought me this again, or I got it for free, as it does benefit the hair, and it's a good natural option when you can't visit Lush or afford Burt's Bees. I liked it, I just didn't love it. It was okay, but it definitely wasn't intensive enough for me.

Whilst £1.29 for a treat initially seems cheaper than splashing out on a big pot of hair treatment from Lush (at around £8 up) if you work it out per use, it's really better value to get a pot from Lush, and the amount of ingredients you'll get for your money will be at least double what's in this. It's simply not worth it, but that said it's not a bad product, just not quite good enough compared with what I've become used to!

Summary: I'd rather spend a bit more on something that will have more than double the effects or use nothing

I don't think it was this one that smelt that bad thank god! Just a slightly off, musty smell!
