Advantages: Builds Volume, 97% natural product

Disadvantages: Can take time to get used to lack of lather and the smell!

I came across the 'Naked bodycare' range in Boots. I'm not sure whether they're available elsewhere. These were on promotion (2 for £6, ordinarily £3.91). I have very fine hair so was looking for a volume building shampoo. I guess like most people I'm also concerned about the number of chemicals that are in the cosmetics and shampoos we use, so I thought I'd try them. The products claim to be 97% natural and cater for all hair types.

The shampoo comes in a clear 250ml cylinder shaped bottle with a pop up lid. According to the packaging the product is free from sodium lauryl sulphate, parabens and petrochemicals'. The back of the bottle contains information about the shampoo such as the natural ingredients they use. The shampoo contains 'wheat amino acids which increase volume by reducing water gain and chicory extract to control flyaway hair'. I liked the style in which the information was written in - it was very down to earth, friendly and had a personal touch. The style also made the company seem like it was run by a bunch of fun people. The range of products is not tested on animals as the company 'doesn't believe in testing on Bambie, Lassie or Skippy'.

The shampoo is a clear liquid, and as it's in a semi transparent bottle you can see how much is left. As the product doesn't contain soap it doesn't form as much lather as normal shampoos do. I found this odd initially and I think for the first few uses I used too much shampoo to try and compensate for this. However the lack of soap doesn't mean that your hair isn't cleaned properly. After rinsing my hair felt squeeky clean and once dried my hair did have a lot more volume and bounce than it normally does, which I was pleased with. However, I really didn't like the smell of the shampoo as it smelt a bit medicated and this lingered once my hair was dry too.

Overall a good product if you want more volume but it's a shame about the smell and because of this I'm not sure I will be buying this again.

Summary: Good for building volume if you can handle the smell!!
