What’s this? ME, the third Duke Of Winborne - HERE? Writing about a shampoo? WhatEVER was I thinking of?

Well, I thought, follically-challenged or not, why not me?

So here goes. My first and only opinion on a hair shampoo, although there may be the odd mention of Head and Shoulders chucked in for good measure. Anyway, how would I know, I’ve not written the rest yet!

(Pauses to clear throat) Ahem……….There now follows a short symposium on T\Gel - this being a most excellent unguent by Messrs Neutrogena, guaranteed to cure all ills of the scalp, though, on the advice of Her Majesty’s Chief Apothecary, not for the taking of, internally.

T\Gel is a brown, transparent, and therefore medical-looking shampoo with a distinct carbolic tarry smell to it, (ooooh Matron!) so forget about anyone running their fingers through (what’s left of) your hair, whispering sweet nothings in yer lug-‘ole, unless of course they are kinky for road-menders. Gissa lobe?

It is designed for those with a tendency towards itchy scalp, bordering on psoriasis, although the latter would probably need its own dedicate treatment.

I have always had a problem with Dan D. Ruff, Esq. He will insist on appearing at the most inopportune moments, like at my own wedding or just in time for a job interview.

Then one day, my next-door neighbour, who just happened to be massage my scalp –
(alright, calm down, she was my hairdresser, working from home), suggested that I needed something a bit more efficacious in the treatment of itchy scalp and over-production of the d-word.

Like Ronseal, T\Gel does exactly what it says on the tin, or in this case, 200 ml bottle costing a weighty £4.79.

Fortunately, you don’t have to use much, and when on holiday, I can make one of those little Body Shop sample bottles, into which I’ve decanted some, last about two weeks. r>
Working just a small dollop into your scalp certainly seems to work for me, relieving any sign of itchiness, and from the cosmetic point of view, dandruff too.

The only proviso I would add to this recommendation is, don’t use it permanently. I intersperse periods using this stuff with more common applications like Head & Shoulders – there, I knew I could get that in if I tried……..as the ecclesiastic said to the thespian.

I’m not aware of any medical wisdom on this subject, it just seems to work better for me if I have a change every now and then.
