T Gel® Shampoo is a shampoo especially formulated for dandruff, and flaky itchy scalps (some form of dermatitis).

The shampoo is made by Neutrogena, and sells in chemists and various other outlets, approved to sell it.

T Gel® Shampoo is clinically proven to work against ALL causes of itchy flaky scalp, including dandruff. It is the number one shampoo recommended by dermatologists in therapeutic hair care.

I based my opinion on dandruff, and cannot vow for any other condition (such as dermatitis), which affect the scalp in a similar way.

Firstly let me point out that the shampoo is:

· Alcohol free (makes it less likely to dry your hair out)
· Long lasting
· Is available in: fine and oily: stubborn; and intensive

So what is dandruff?

Your skin is constantly renewing itself (not just on the head). As it renews itself, the dead cells from the scalp fall off the head as dandruff. EVERYONE loses some – it’s a natural occurrence. However for some it becomes a real problem (medical term - pityriasis capitis). You have probably seen people with ‘snow’ like shoulders? (Very severe cases of dandruff are caused by: a disease called seborrhoeic eczema or seborrhoeic dermatitis). This can vary from mild cases, which are only a problem in winter, to more severe cases where flaking occurs in places other than just the scalp. Personally I suffered mildly from it, although it did make my head itch! I even bought a nit comb as I did begin to wonder….

Can dandruff be prevented?

It is difficult to prevent dandruff completely, but it can be controlled with shampoos, lotions etc, and also a little sunlight might help the condition too. The condition may also improve as people age.



The shampoo?
==================

The shampoo comes in small bottles, and costs quite a bit of money –
; as shampoos go. The liquid is brown and fairly thick (hence the name t-GEL I expect). Although a little of the shampoo is all what is needed, though this may of course vary on the length and thickness of your hair. It is recommended that you use the shampoo (they also have conditioner), twice a week or as directed by your doctor or dermatologist. Prices for the shampoo are roughly:


· £3.99 for 125 ml
· £7.49 for 250ml

Which is quite expensive for a shampoo, especially as there are other ones on the market for a lot cheaper.


Recommend it?

This shampoo worked for me, and my itchy-ness was soon cleared within a few washes. However, on hindsight not having the condition bad enough to really warrant the price (Another family member bought the shampoo), I doubt whether I would of personally bought the shampoo. However, it is recommended by doctors and dermatologists and so maybe worth the price if you have the condition badly enough.

Overall my opinion of this shampoo is very good. I would certainly recommend it if you have dandruff bad, but if you only have it mild then I’d stick to something a lot cheaper like head and shoulders!
