Advantages: No Dripping, Not much unpleasant smell, Good colour match, Hair soft when dry.
Disadvantages: Poor grey coverage using time recommended, comb attachment difficult to use on long hair if alone
I have thick wavy medium golden brown hair, which reaches my bottom (just cant bring myself to get it cut). I admit to having a few greys, well quite a few really, so I like to do my hair on a regular basis.
I have tried most products on the market, but up to now my favorite is Nutresse, but thats another review altogether lol!!
I thought I would give the Perfect 10 a go, simply because of the short time to develop and the colour I picked seemed to be pretty much the colour I wanted.
I generally have to buy two boxes as I have so much hair, but the assistant said that there was enough in this one to do my hair, so as it was on special offer I bought one for when I needed it.
I used it yesterday and this is what I thought. The color mixed well, and fortunately its one you don't have to wet your hair first, I did my roots first as per the instructions, with the nozzle as recommended on the instructions if you have less than half an inch of roots and then after 5 mins used the rest on the rest of my hair, and its true the one box did do for my hair, which in all honesty is good as it is a bit on the expensive side - well if it wasn't on special offer it would be!!!!
I found the comb really difficult to use due to the length of my hair. The comb is around one and a half inches long and half and inch maybe slightly more in depth, and if longer may be easier to use on long hair if on your own so I reverted to the nozzle, and covered all my hair pretty quickly. I found it pretty thick and there was no drippage, and the odd bits I got on my face I found wiped off really easily without staining, but having said that, it was done pretty quickly so if it was left longer in may have stained I cant really comment on that. It said on the box for stubborn greys to leave it on for 15 mins, which I did altogether then washed it off. I found my hair was pretty much tangle free when washed out unlike a lot of colours and the conditioner which I left on for 10 mins as my hair is pretty wirey, was lovely, smelled really pleasant, which was good, but to be honest, the product was not any where near as strong smelling as many hair colourants, and left my hair feeling really soft and easy to comb though which is a novelty as it is very long and being wavy tends to tangle easily.
While wet, the colour looked pretty good but obviously you cant tell from that what the actual result would be like, so I left it to dry naturally which I normally do.
Once dry, I found that the colour was as I thought a pretty good match for my hair, however, despite leaving it on for the extra 5 mins, I still had a couple of greys showing through which was a disappointment, but overall, it was nicely shaded with a golden tint. My hair was lovely and soft after and had no lingering smell of hair colourant which is unusual for home hair colorants.
So to sum up!! I don't think I will be using the product again, mainly due to the price and the overall effect. It had a number of advantages, basically no dripping, colour, no unpleasant smell, easy to wipe off skin if done quickly, nice conditioner, soft hair when dry, one box only needed for long hair . However it also has a number of disadvantages the main one of which to me is the most important is the poor grey coverage. Perhaps if it were left on longer, but being specifically for a quick colour, is missing the objective. The comb attachment proved to be difficult to use on long hair, however if you have short hair it may be easier to use, or if your hair is long maybe if you have a friend to help it may be useable, I also found that the gloss that it says it brings out on your hair is not as good as a lot of products, but perhaps that is due to my hair length and that it could do with a trim lol!!!!
I will update on how the colour lasts when I wash my hair next, hopefully it won't fade as it is advertised as long lasting grey coverage, so the jury is out on that part as yet.
All things considered, I dont think I will be using the product again as the main advantages it advertises I didn't find it came up with, and I would rather pay for two boxes of a colour such as Nutresse to get a better grey coverage which will work out roughly a similar price.
I have just noticed the price on Amazon, which is considerably cheaper than the price I would have paid had it been the full price, but even so I would still go for a better product and pay a bit extra for two boxes.
Summary: Avoid if need grey coverage, and the comb is not good if hair is long and u are alone

- 05/10/09 Sorry I have just worked out you can amend the review, so the above comment is unnecessary, so if it can be deleted, can someone let me know how to do it lol!!! |

- 05/10/09 Just an after thought, the comb attachment I feel could have been slightly bigger (app one and a half inches long) and then it may have been easier to use on longer hair when alone) |
