Advantages: I thought this was extremely easy to use- much cheaper than hairdresser
Disadvantages: For me, there were no disadvantages
I've done some idiotic things to my hair recently. I tried to go peroxide blonde, but ended up orange, so I had to go to my salon with my orange hair and have them fixed it. She dyed it back to brown but it was in such bad condition that she advised I cut it up short. I had been thinking of doing that anyway, so it wasn't a huge problem for me. It looked good and I was happy with it. Then the urge came...
The urge to be blonde again.
I had to have it done professionally using the old-fashioned Cap method, as the hair was so short now at the back, but I was happy with it, and happy to be blonde. I was meant to have an appointment to have my highlights redone last Friday, but if you read my last review, you will know that I have had a lot going on recently and I had to miss my appointment. Somehow in that short week my roots got scandalous looking. They were so dark and really dirty looking. At the moment I am still feeling a bit delicate, and not quite ready to face people, but at the same time, I am back at work this week so I do need to look presentable. In my local chemist I took a look at all of the bottles of home dying kits, and I was drawn to the Nice n Easy Perfect 10 bottle. It looked young and vibrant, and most importantly, it looked easy to use. With two toddlers I need things to be as quick and easy as possible.
Now, I have already read some quite negative reviews online about this product, but this did not put me off. It was by far the best looking box on the shelf, and on offer at 5.99 it wasn't expensive at all.

Kit Contents

When you open out the box of the Perfect 10 box there are the "usual" hair dying bits and bobs:
1) High Gloss Colour Creme
2) Colour Activating Creme with Comb Applicator
3) Colourseal conditioner
4) Colourist Gloves
5) Instruction Leaflet
I am obliged to point out that you are recommended to do a skin allergy test 48 hours before using the product even if you have already used colouring products before. Did I do it? No admittedly, I didn't. Some day my hair is going to fall out and I will only have myself to blame.
Do not attempt to use this product if you have ever had a reaction to colouring products. Never attemept to use this product on your eyelashes or eyebrows, remove contact lenses before application, wear gloves at all times during application, use the product only in a well ventilated area, remove any metal products from your hair before using (I always wonder about this one) and finally, do not use if your hair has been dyed with henna dyes.

Application
*********
There are some helpful hints to apply the dye, the first being to wash your hair the day before you apply the dye. You can apply this dye just to your roots if you are only doing a touch up, but I chose the all-over-colour option. The colour I chose was medium golden blonde. My hair was quite white blonde while my roots were my naturally unglamorous mousey brown. I was not looking for complete coverage, I just wanted the roots to be less obvious until I can work out what exactly to do with my hair.
Step One,
Remove Mixing Cap, Squeeze Silver tube into bottle.
Step Two
Replace mixing cap securly and hold away from face. Do not shake with comb attached.
Step Three
Shake thoroughly for a minimum of 20 seconds until fully mixed
Step Four (Two Options for this one)
Attach Perfect Colour Comb for all over colour
or
Applicator Tip for root Application/
Step Five
Apply colour immediately, starting at the roots, turn the bottle upside down and squeeze as you glide the perfect colour comb downward through your hair. Work mixture through and check hair is completely saturated.
Step Six
Leave colour on for just 10 minutes.
Step Seven
Rinse until water runs clear. Massage conditioner through and leave for two minutes. Rinse then style as usual.

Results and my Experience
*********************
I was really impressed with how easy the comb attachment was to run through my hair. The 10 minutes passed very quickly. The product did not run or drip on to my skin. In fact I was able to bath the children without any running at all. I was even able to rinse it off in the shower while they bathed. It was just so convenient.
When I rinsed, and before putting on the conditioner, I took a peek into the mirror and thought oh dear as I looked at my yellow hair. But after conditioner and blow drying it looked fine. It was even and covered the roots quite well. It is a marked improvement on the way that it was previously.
The gloves were of very good quality. The held up to the job, and were very strong. I also rated the conditioner very highly.
The colour I chose was 8G Medium Golden Blonde, which is defined on the box as a honey medium shade which gives a high gloss result that will enhance the gold tones in your hair. For optimal results this product should be used on light blonde to light brown hair. It worked perfectly over my very blonde highlights and it even lifted my natural roots while it was on my hair.
I have to say that I am delighted with the Perfect 10 kit. It did all that it promised. And i would love to see other brands copying the handy comb attachment. It made things very simple.
Summary: A much cheaper alternative to going to the salon
