Advantages: smells gorgeous petal, looks good, keep it to yourself
Disadvantages: nothing special, quite pricey
The time had come. I had briefly gone back to Clairol Daily Defence but I knew it wasn't going to work out. It became the latest in a long string of my brief love affairs. I knew poor Clairol was heartbroken and as much as I had enjoyed our time together I had realised that he wasn't 'the one'. So I was back on the market, looking for a new love. In case I have lost you, yes I am talking about shampoo! As I am sure a lot of you know, I am a sucker for marketing so as soon as I see a new advert, I just have to have it! I usually fall head over heels in love with my new product, but it is always short lived. Like life I suppose, something better always comes long. Now the latest advert to draw me in is the one with the blonde girl, running around a city, looking at herself in every mirror or reflective surface she can find and loving how she looks. Unfortunately the aforementioned ad is for Organics, and I had long since fallen out with him. In fact we're not even on speaking terms anymore so I was left with no option but to head (no pun intended) for another of my long-term loves -Boots. I was standing at the shampoo shelf when I felt it. That warm fuzzy, smiley excited feeling of a potential new affair crept over me as my gaze fell onto the Nicky Clarke Colour Therapy range. I think it was the names that first attracted me, or maybe the way there was one waiting especially for me - Take It As Red. The range comprises of See Me shampoo, Feel Me conditioner, Shape Me controlling balm and Touch Me texturiser but, and here comes the clever bit, they are specifically tailored to you hair colour. The product ranges each have amusing names: ~ Take It As Red for red hair, ~ Blonde Goddess or A Taste Of Honey for blonde and mousy blonde hair respectively, ~ Sweet Like Chocolate for brown and dark hair and ~ Goodness Greycious for grey hair Being a natural redhead, I began to worry that maybe th
is wasn't 'the one' after all as it may have been intended for dyed (sorry, colour treated) hair. I decided to lay my heart on the line and go for it anyway. Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, as they say! I did inspect the website later on and discover, "Colour Therapy shampoos, conditioners and styling products add marvellous depth, shine and vibrancy to your hair, whether natural or coloured" Basically the product will enhance a natural colour, or help to maintain the colour of treated hair. maybe it could even stop that whiney Neutrogena ad girl from 'fading, fading, fading' in the middle of my favourite TV programs! The range also includes 3 T.L.C. products, which specifically care for all types of coloured (dyed) hair: ~ Protect Me pre-wash colour lock spray ~ Heal Me intensive conditioner ~ Save Me UV protector I gently reached over and turned Take It As Red around. After all, you should always check out the rear shouldn't you? And it was delectable, believe me! Clarysage, geranium, cyclamen, vanilla, coconut, bergamot, ginger, carrot, henna and silk! I had to smell him! One deep breath and I was hooked - I just knew I had to take him home! One final thing swung it for me - the sign in front of him on the shelf that said 'Buy any product in the Colour Therapy range and receive a free shampoo'. This meant I got the shampoo and the conditioner for the price of the conditioner alone! So, to the experiment. You will need one head of red hair, one hot shower, one bottle of Take It As Red See Me shampoo, one bottle of Take It As Red Feel me conditioner and tough skin. Tough skin? Yes, tough skin. Because this is the point when my dreams and illusions were shattered. My new love was nothing special :( The shampoo smells wonderful, but is average in cleaning. It is a beautiful thick clear burgundy colour which looks like it might stain, but doesn
9;t. The conditioner has a swirly 'pearl' effect, similar to a nail varnish, but again is average in performance. It isn't a bad product, but considering the price and the 'designer haircare' status, I was expecting something special. In his defence that was only our first time and maybe performance will improve as time goes on. I'll be sure to let you know! I suppose one main advantage is I wont have to share this one with my flatmates! I have recommended this, but only because I firmly believe in trying anything once! This range of products is only available at Boots. For more information on the Colour Therapy and other Nicky Clarke ranges take a look at the products section on http://www.nickyclarke.com. I hope you find love. I meanwhile am back on the market again...;)

- 26/07/01 *sulking* you're a big tease. I'm a red head too, and naturally so but my hair is looking a bit dull... this sounded ideal, but it's not up to much you think? Oh well. I once tried a similar product by VO5, with much the same results.. back to the drawing board! Good op. |
