This is a rather broad category when you conisder the number of Nicky Clarke conditioners on the market. This review will be based upon the 'Smooth It Over' Conditioner. I happened upon this, largely due to my desire for bargains. Way back in October, this was on special offer in Morrisons with a whopping 50% off. Having, not so pleasant, frizzy coarse hair I have used a huge number of products in an attempt to tame it and make it look half decent. Often this has meant wasting a lot of money on expensive products that just don't do the trick. ~ Price ~ As I've already stated, I got this for £2.15 due to the special offer but it is generally priced at around £4.29 in Boots, who often have a 3 for 2 offer on a range of Nicky Clarke hair care products. ~ Packaging ~ This comes in a tube and sits on the lid. The lid is a flip top which is easily squeezed out. ~ What does it promise? ~ * keeps hair sleek and shiny. * deeply hydrating. * controls frizz. * protects against heat styling damage. * enhances condition. ~ How to use it ~ I have to say that I'm not great about following instructions but this is what is suggested. Work a small amount at a time from the roots to the ends, adding more to the ends if particularly dry. Use a wide-tooth comb to comb the conditioner through your hair before rinsing it off. Pat dry as rubbing will roughen each strand. ~ My experience ~ This conditioner has a lovely smell. It is very easily applied and instantly leaves my hair feeling very soft. Just make sure that you thoroughly rinse it off as with most conditioners if it isn't then it can leave your hair looking slightly greasy. Unfortunately that's where the smooth, silky feeling ends. When applied and then rinsed off, my wet hair certainly does feel tangle free and smooth but unfortunately the frizziness of my hair is just too much for this conditioner to make it look and feel sleek and shiny once dried. The frizz is still there and it looks just as dry as before it's application. That is not to say that it doesn't make my hair a little more manageable, it certainly does tame it ever so slightly which is better than a lot of other products I have used over the years. ~ The Smooth it Over Range ~ Smooth it over is 'all about keeping it straight - no ifs, no buts, no frizz, no fuss. This range keeps hair sleek and shiny, banishing flyaways and enhancing condition.' * 60 seconds * Leave in conditioner spritz * Shampoo * Smooth it over gift set which contains the conditioner and shampoo. ~ Other Nicky Clarke Conditioners ~ Nicky Clarke has a huge range of hair care products available, some of the conditioners I have listed below: * Calming frizz control * Wave and curl defining * Intensive treatment, curl defining * Waves intensive treatment * Smooth intensive treatment * Great body plump it up ~ My Verdict ~ The smell is a plus but I really dislike the way that products are marketed in terms of the promises that they make on the packaging. This conditioner does calm my hair ever so slightly and may be ideal for people with a minimal amount of frizz to their hair but for those of you who may have the same affliction to their hair as me then don't expect it to leave your hair frizz-free, sleek and shiny. This certainly wasn't a waste of money but I would have been far more disappointed had I paid full price for it. All I want is to be able to find a frizz control hair product that actually does what it promises! Any suggestions other than shaving the whole lot off?!
This conditioner said that it was going to make my hair beautiful, big, and non static- yeh yeh. I used the volumising shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner left my hair greasy, although it did smell rather nice. It also left it flat and dull and I definately wouldn't recommend this to anybody. The only good thing about this product is that it did get rid of a bit of the static. This is only because it weighed it down and left it so greasy though. It also made my hair feel very fine, as though it was about to snap!
