Over the years I have tried to curl my hair with everyday rollers, and every time I had to wait ages until my hair was dry and rollers were ready to be taken out. I do have medium to long hair...so in the end I gave up on wasting my time, till I discovered heated rollers. I have struggled to decide which heated rollers to go for, so after a detailed research I have opted for Nicky Clarke compact heated rollers. Price did vary but the average was about £15-£20. I did manage to grab a bargain in Tesco for £11.97 (2 weeks ago). The rollers come in a small, light black travel bag, with the lead on the outside. When you unzip the bag in the middle, there are 12 rollers, 6 red ones on one side and 6 black ones on the other. This means that you can only heat up 6 rollers at the time. Personally I don't mind that at all, because as I take one red heated roller to put in my hair, I replace it with the black one that needs heating up. The rollers are medium size, and all 12 rollers are the same size. In the bag there are also 12 pins to keep the rollers in place when placed in hair. It took me few attempts to get the pins right so they keep the rollers in my hair rather than falling out, but it is a matter of practice. The rollers take about 10-15 min to heat up and when they are ready to be used the temperature indicator turns from red to white. They are not too hot to handle while using them, which is great. Once the rollers are in the hair they can be left as long as you need. My hair seems to curl quite easily so for me 10-15min is more than enough. It leaves me with a great volume and large curls that with a touch of hairspray lasts all day. Even the following day, I still have curls in my hair (maybe not as strong as first day, but still nice curls). Girls at work though I was popping into hairdressers every morning before work. I have had so many compliments since using them. What I didn't know till I bought them is that they can be put on dry hair or slightly damp hair too. I haven't tried putting them on damp hair, so I cannot comment on those results. The only one thing that I have found not so very practical was, that the black rollers that are not heated and are stored in the bag, are held by elastic. I do find it very difficult to take them out of the elastic and to put them back in the elastic bit, so I leave them loosely in the bag. Apart from that I am very happy with the purchase of Nicky Clarke heated rollers, and would definitely recommend them.

With the curly look in at the moment I thought that I would give these a try as they were on special at boots and with my boots advantage card I never had to pay for them as I had enough points which was even better. They come in a silver bag with twelve rollers, six big curlers and six smaller rollers and 12 clips. The bag has a power light and on the rollers there is a red dot and when they reach ultimate temperature the dot turns white. Whilst the rollers are rubber and designed to retain heat for longer. The plug is a worldwide voltage so they are ideal to take away. The rollers are a lot easier to put into your hair than I thought, although you have to be careful when putting the rollers in as they get a lot hotter than I expected them to get. The down fall to these rollers is that you can only heat six rollers at a time and as I have layered hair I found that I could ideally do with a few more rollers for my hair. But overall the rollers worked really well and the curls lasted a lot longer than I thought they would as the roller retains the heat really well. These are not the greatest rollers on the market but for storage they are great as they all fit into the silver bag and the cable has a little storage place so they take up hardly any space at all. Definitely worth a tray and for the cost you cannot go wrong, if you could buy some more rollers separately this would be a great product.
