I straighten my hair every day and before I got bought my precious GHD's for Christmas last year I had a pair of Nicky Clarke's NCS70 straighteners which are basically a narrower flat hair iron than my paddle ones... These straighteners are made with ceramic plates mixed with 'professional tourmaline technology'and are black and red with a 2 metre cord length. They are about 6 inch long and one inch wide and have five setting between 1 and five and the heat goes up to 230 degrees which is very high and can be quite damaging. Their s an On/Off switch inside the straighteners and a little red LED light to show when they are plugged in and ... Read the complete review

I brought these over a year ago and as they are a Nicky Clarke product i was expecting them to be good! On the first use i was quite happy as they made my hair straight, quite smooth, and it looked like my hair was healthy (I use straightners about 5 days a week so pretty damaged hair) For about 4 - 5 more uses of the straightner my hair was still straight but i noticed it becoming less smooth & healthy looking, even though i use a heat protection spray. I carried on using them but it just made my hair straight but fluffy, static and the straightness wasn't lasting very long. 3 Months after buying them i noticed a loud noise coming from them which was ... I bought these straighteners in the sale at argos, I paid £18.99, but they should have been £38.19, so I thought that they would be decent, especially with the Nicky Clarke brand. My hair is coarse, wavy and long, so I use straighteners every day, and I am on my fourth set in ten years. These are the worst ones that I have ever had. They do heat up really quickly, and get very hot, (a heat mat would have been nice) but after a few uses, I have noticed that my hair looks dull, and it doesn't feel as nice as when I have used other straighteners. When I pull them down my hair, it makes a squeaking sound which I have never experienced before. I don't ... Read the complete review

I have had these a few months, and bought them from Argos for around £20. The appearance of them is quite good: they are black and red with black plates. The size is handy as they aren't too big to put in your bag to take travelling. These straighteners go up to 230°c, so I very much doubt the claim "kinder for hair" can be justified. There are 5 temperature options, but only number 5 (the hottest) seems to be adequate enough for straightening my hair. It takes a very long time to straighten my hair using these, which could probably be solved if the plates were wider and perhaps longer (as they aren't exactly big). When I straighten my ... i bought mine from Boots during the christmas sales 07 for a good £19.99. theyre quite good, go up to a high tempreture but don't last long. I've only had mine for a bout a year but already the ceramic on the plates has work off meaning i don't get the shiny smooth finish on my hair. instead it comes out a bit static. Moreover, the wire's disconnected meaning it only works if i hold it at a certain angle. this is extremly annoying because it means i have to hold it in my hand while it's heating up! it used to heat up quickly but now takes longer. it does not have a good grip on my hair and the area where you hold it can get quite hot. i would reccomend that you don't ...
