Advantages: Well known name...

Disadvantages: Coating on plates wears off, faulty, damaging...

I straighten my hair every day and before I got bought my precious GHD's for Christmas last year I had a pair of Nicky Clarke's NCS70 straighteners which are basically a narrower flat hair iron than my paddle ones...

These straighteners are made with ceramic plates mixed with 'professional tourmaline technology'and are black and red with a 2 metre cord length.

They are about 6 inch long and one inch wide and have five setting between 1 and five and the heat goes up to 230 degrees which is very high and can be quite damaging.

Their s an On/Off switch inside the straighteners and a little red LED light to show when they are plugged in and turned on.

They look stylish and the cord swivels which is really handy when manoeuvring around you head :)

Performance wise they straight off great! The ceramic plates simply glide down the hair and they are obviously really hot so flatten the hair down really well.

The many problems with this particular product start after a month or two despite them being advertised as 'kinder for hair' they get really damaging as you can't straighten your hair at less than the full setting of 5 because they simply don't work :(

The coating on the plates starts wearing off and I actually had to return my first pair to boots after they started making a strange fizzling sound and the light kept flashing on and off...

They cost £20 half price an I managed to pick another pair up at the same price but on hindsight I should have changed the brand, but at the time I thought it was a one off and that 'Nicky Clarke' being a designer name they would be good quality.

When the coating is new they are really smooth straighteners, but when that black coating starts wearing on they become rougher and the hair starts to frizz.

Over time you can see they are actually frazzling the hair and are damaging the strands really noticeably.

Compared to my great quality GHD's which obviously you pay a lot more for these are rubbish, and only deserve one star out of the possible five, not good and I wouldn't choose this pair again :(

Summary: Avoid!! :(
