I love my fella. To me, He's gorgeous, both on the inside, and on the outside...apart from one little thing. He has in incredibly dry scalp. Other men have dandruff, mine has full blown leprosy of the head, and bits of dried up skin keep falling off, all over the bed, all over the chairs, but most obvious of all, all over those black T-shirts he loves to wear so much.

Wearing another colour could be an option, and for anyone else, It would be. But my boyfriend only wears black- its hios work uniform, T-shirts with beer logos on them, always in black! Much as I love him, I have to agree that blacks his best colour.

That where Nizoral comes in. Up until I tried this, we'd been using head and shoulders. This didn't really seem to be working for him, so we went to the chemist to see what we could find. We came out with Nizoral 1%
Nizoral can be used to help control flaking, itching, scaling, etc., on the scalp/skin. It can also be used for dry skin in other areas apparently, such to treat Psoriacal Eczema, Dermatitis and a couple of other things I've never heard of, but primarily, it's an effective anti fungal treatment against dry flaky skin on the scalp.

Everyone’s skin contains a yeast called Pityrosporum, too much can cause dandruff, eczema and other conditions. Nizoral controls dandruff by destroying this fungus at the same times as cleaning your hair and skin.

The Packaging
******************
The bottle in a box which is white with various shades of blue on it. I've added a photo for anyone who wants a full description of it, but basically the packaging is easy to identify. It contains clearly ingredient details as well as clear warnings that the product is "FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY".

Other warnings on the packet include a warning not to use the shampoo if you are pregnant or nursing without consulting your doctor, advice to stop using if the dandruff worsens, and advice not to use it on children under twelve.

Also on the box are the expiry date, the usual stuff about what to do if you get it in your eyes, and a word of caution about using it as a topical skin ointment without consulting your doctor or GP. All very sensible.
All the information is repeated on the bottle with the addition of usage instructions.

How to Use
**************
To start with, it's pretty much the same as washing your hair normally for the first few steps. Squeeze out of the bottle, rub it in well, and work it into lather. Make sure you really work it into your scalp though, it's not just a hair shampoo but a scalp shampoo, so really work up foam.

Then you need to leave it for up to five minutes (but no longer) to soak in properly, and then rinse it out thoroughly. One should note that the makers of Nizoral recommend that you use this product twice every week for the first four weeks of treatment or until your dandruff is cured, then once every week thereafter to prevent dandruff recurring.

People using steroid treatments to control either their dandruff or any other skin condition, should seek advice from a GP before using this shampoo.

Ingredients
************
The active ingredient is KETOCONOZOLE 1%. It also contains a lot of other stuff with long technical sounding names that I'm sure you don't want to read. However, vegetarians or people with a strict aversion to using animal by products in cosmetics and medicine should note that Nizoral contains Hydrolyzed Animal Collagen.
For anyone who does want a full ingredient list, it's at the very bottom of the review.

Results
*********
After the first time he used Nizoral, my boyfriend said that he felt an immediate difference. For the first time in ages, his scalp wasn't itching and annoying him.

I noticed a visible difference after about a week and a half (on the third wash) in that his shirt was no longer covered with a heavy dusting of dead skin. After just under a month, his scalp was much smoother to the touch with barely any dryness at all, and after six months, the dandruff is gone with no sign of return
The shampoo also cleans well, leaving hair shiny and smelling pleasant.

Price
******
This is the part that lets an otherwise perfect product down. It costs £8 for a 120-ml bottle. That’s a lot of money. But bearing in mind that you only have to use it twice a week, it does last for quite a long time, depending on your hair length of course. A bottle lasted my boyfriend about two months.

It is possible to get it on prescription, so do have a chat with your doctor about it if you suffer with dandruff or Psoriacal excema.

A shampoo that really does what it's supposed to do, and a boyfriend with sexy, shiny looking hair! I can't complain

(Except about the price, for which I deduct one star.)

Thanks for reading
