      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not worth the cost

I recently bought this Dove Nourishing Oil Care Express Treatment Conditioner as I was looking for a new product for my hair that would nourish it and really give it some extra oomph. I decided to give this product a try since I liked the dove brand, and from the description it seemed that this was really a product worth at least trying.

For £3.39 for a (quite small) 180ml tube of conditioner, it was not exactly cheap, and therefore I had high expectations that it would be everything that it claimed to be. It is not hideously expensive, I suppose, and nothing special from Dove's ordinary prices but it does go without saying that there are many other good hair conditioner products available on the market for much, much less.

This product is packaged in a large tube, sort of like an over grown toothpaste container. It has a white and gold Dove colour which I think makes it look quite classy. It has a cap which can be opened and closed easily and the conditioner can be squeezed out into your hand. Overall, the packaging is quite easy to use and aesthetically pleasing.

The conditioner itself is a light creamy colour with streaks of yellow inside which blends into the main colour and this, too, is slightly reminds me of toothpaste. It has a creamy texture which can easily be applied onto the hair. I like to leave the conditioner in for around 5 minutes before washing it off, and it does so quite easily.

So how did it perform? Well, I suppose it does OK as a conditioner, as my hair does become easier to brush through and manage, however I think that some other much cheaper ones have done a better job for me. My hair is still a bit frizzy after use and it does not become that soft, sleek, shiny or smooth. I can see no real visible difference having used it which is such a disappointment since I expected a lot from it. Moreover, my hair doesn't feel particularly nourished which I thought was meant to be the key aim of this Express Treatment Conditioner.

It does not leave your hair too greasy, which at least is a good thing and more than I could say for some other conditioners available.

In conclusion, this conditioner is not exactly bad but it is quite pricey for what it is and for that price I expected better, especially since it promised to nourish my hair. This was not a complete waste of my money, however it was not exactly a very economical decision either as you do not really get all that is promised from it and you could achieve the same results with a conditioner less than half its price. I would give this product 3 out of 5 dooyoo stars as I think it is quite average, and if you want something more nourishing and cheap, I would recommend that you look elsewhere.

A nice quick intensive conditioner from Dove

DOVE NOURISHING OIL CARE - express treatment CONDITIONER

I am forever filling in requests for free sample and then get a pleasant surprise as the freebie arrives in the post but it does mean that often I have no idea where I got it from. This is one of those freebies which I think may have come from Boots but I can't be sure. Anyway I am reviewing my 50 ml sample tube of the Dove NOURISHING OIL CARE express treatment conditioner.

I do quite like Dove and use a number of their different products at various times and I particularly like their hair products as I have found they work well on my hair type. They are not silly prices and are usually a decent quality product so I am happy to try their latest stuff any time it is offered.

My hair is short, course and thick and as I now have grey at the front of my hair I do colour it regularly too. This means that I like to use a good conditioner otherwise it can get very dry at the ends and of course I try to make the colour last as long as possible between colourings and a good treatment helps with this.

The sample I have comes in one of those upside down tubes so that it stands on its lid making it easy to squeeze out the contents. I believe the full sized one comes in a larger version of this and my tube has the same product label in smart gold label on the front, in fact it is a mini version of the real thing.

The conditioner comes out easily and is a thicker than average conditioner cream which is a creamy white colour but it also has a gold stripe running through it. This gold stripe is the part that apparently has the oil treatment and extra nourishment in it to repair and nourish dry and frizzy hair.

This is a pretty thick and quality conditioner and on the tube we are told that best results are obtained if you apply this to wet hair after shampooing then leave for a minute before rinsing thoroughly. This is no problem and I just love to use my head massage brush while I am conditioning my hair so I do this in the minute of time waiting for this to work .

It smells gorgeous a bit like a floral perfume and it is full of nourishing oils that help to condition hair, tame it and yet not weigh it down.

This is called an express treatment which means it is intensive but works in the same time as a normal conditioner. They suggest leaving it on your hair for just 1 minute and so this is what I do and then rinse it off easily. It felt silky soft as I was rinsing it out and the feel was similar to the conditioning treatment you get with hair colour treatments and indeed I find it works pretty much the same way.

I found it rinsed out easily and after drying with a towel I then used my hair dryer to dry and style my hair. Unlike some intensive treatments this did not leave me with heavy weighed down lifeless hair. My hair felt soft, looks shiny and was easy to style and smelled lovely too.

This conditioner I also find is great for using as a serum sometimes and this i do when my hair is wet and I put the tiniest amount on my hands and then rub them through my hair before drying it. Sometimes I also use it after I have dried my hair and do the same rub the tiniest amount on the ends of my hair and tghis does the same nourishing the ends and giving a gloss.

All in all I was very happy with my freebie tube and would be more than happy to buy this again. It smells lovely and leaves my hair feeling really light, soft and looking shiny and healthy. I found I only needed the smallest amount and a little went a long way but my hair is pretty short so those with longer hair would need to use a bit more than I did .

This conditioner sells for about £3.30 in a 180ml tube but they are often on promotion in Boots and Tesco so keep your eyes open if you fancy trying it.

I would recommend this and will be buying it again when my vast stores of shampoos and other hair treats gets a bit smaller. This is a really nice conditioning treatment that is a decent price and lasts for ages.

Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same username.

        Intensive conditioner from Dove

I received a free mini tube of Dove's new Hair Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Express Treatment Conditioner with a magazine and decided to put it to work. From the description it sounded like it would help to treat dry and damaged hair, so I hoped it would be good for my hair, which is coloured and straightened so really needs some TLC!

The conditioner comes in a white tube with a flip-top lid and a gold-coloured 'ribbon' logo. A description on the back states that it has been made with 'weightless nutri-oils' to provide advanced care and repair for beautiful hair. It is also designed to contain a 'golden ribbon' of treatment, containing instant deep nourishment to smooth even extra-dry and frizzy hair. It apparently contains three times the nourishing power of a conditioner.

To use the conditioner, you are supposed to shampoo your hair as normal and then apply the conditioner, leaving it on your hair for one minute. I found it easy to squeeze the product out of the tube, and was surprised to see that it did indeed contain a 'golden ribbon' of treatment - in fact it looked rather like toothpaste! The conditioner was thick but it was easy to rub it together in my hands, mixing the white and gold together, in order to apply it all over my hair. I used a piece about the size of a 50p on my shoulder-length thick hair.

The conditioner was easy to apply and rinse off after the allotted time had elapsed. I dried and styled my hair as normal and found it to feel soft and tangle-free.
My hair seemed to be in good condition while using this conditioner. It felt soft, conditioned and strong without weighing my hair down - I wash my hair every other day and it didn't look at all greasy. It was also easier to straighten and my hair wasn't as frizzy as it can be.

However, I don't think this is a really intensive conditioner like the name suggests. I've used 'ordinary' conditioners that are stronger. My hair didn't feel as moisturised as it can do. The product did a reasonable job, but not as good a job as the marketing suggests.
I might buy this again as a normal conditioner to use every day, as it did do a decent job. However I wouldn't use it as an intensive conditioner as I just don't think it's strong enough.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A big disappointment from the usually great Dove brand

At the moment my hair is not in great condition and I am on a bit of a mission to remedy the situation before my wedding in a few months time. There are several reasons why my hair needs attention, the main ones being abuse in the form of colouring and regularly using heated appliances, as well as making some bad decisions with hair care products. One such product was the Goldwell hair treatment I used and reviewed a few weeks ago, which left my hair extremely knotted and subsequently damaged as a result of trying to get the knots out.

I use a treatment on my hair every week and when it came to deciding which one to use next, I had a look through the products I already owned, before going out to buy more. I came across a 50ml tube of the Dove Nourishing Oil Express Care Conditioner, which I had received some time ago - possibly through the post as my name has somehow gotten onto a Dove mailing list. I decided that this could be the thing to revive my damaged, dried out hair as I've had good experiences of the Dove brand in the past and the back of the tube says 'Instant Deep Nourishment smoothes even extra dry and frizzy hair' which sounded exactly what I needed.

The product comes in a glossy white tube with gold accents. Although I don't find the packaging anything special to look at, I do prefer tubes for this sort of product, especially as when used in the shower, tubs can often end up with water in them. Unfortunately one thing I have found with the tube, is that the gold colouring on the front has worn off quite badly, possibly as a result of getting wet. When I picked it up, huge gold flakes came off in my hand, which has made it look rather unsightly.

Using the product is very simple. Firstly you should shampoo your hair as normal and then apply this product in place of your normal conditioner, leaving on for one minute. The fact it only needs to be left on for a minute is a plus point for me, as I've used treatments in the past that have needed up to twenty minutes and frankly, I don't have the patience to wait these days!

The treatment is actually has a two tone effect and comes out of the tube in golden yellow and white stripes, making it look a bit like stripy toothpaste! I am not sure if the two colours are simply for effect or if each colour has a different property, but I always mix the product by rubbing my palms together first, just to make sure that my hair gets an even dose of both colours.

If you are familiar with Dove products, you will probably know that most of them carry the same soapy scent that you would get from a bar of original Dove soap. I was quite surprised to find that this one did not have that well known and well loved scent. Instead, the product had a fresh, clean scent which whilst pleasant was nothing outstanding and in my opinion quite generic. I certainly couldn't pick out any one particular ingredient for instance, but the smell was fine, just disappointing.

The treatment is a good consistency, not thick, but not runny either and it smoothes through the hair very easily. When it comes to rinsing, it rinses out as easily as it goes on and I can instantly tell my hair has been conditioned, because it feels smooth and tangle free, which is a good start!

Unfortunately, once dry, the results I get from this product were not quite as good as I had been expecting or indeed hoping for. Whilst it would be fair to say that my hair feels conditioned after using this, it does not feel like it has just had a deep conditioning treatment - just any normal bog-standard conditioner.

On a positive note, my hair feels smooth and silky and has a subtle, yet pleasant scent to it. Also there are no tangles in my hair despite it being very long and no residue is left behind.

Moving on to the negatives, I think the main one is that my hair does not feel nourished, as claimed on the packaging, and the ends of my hair in particular are left feeling just as dried out as they were when I started. My hair also looks quite dry and dull, and although I suffer from frizzy hair anyway, I feel the frizz is worse after using this and much more prominent. Again, this product actually specifically promises to help frizzy hair, so I find this quite disappointing. Also in terms of looks, my hair does not particularly look like it has had a treatment of any sort, there are certainly no noticeable benefits such as shine or volume.

A 180ml tube of this product retails at £3.35 in Superdrug and just a penny more in Boots. The cheapest I've found it is £2.96 in ASDA. To give you an idea of how long a tube will last, my 50ml tube gave me three uses, but bear in mind my hair is longer than most (past bra strap level), so I need to use a fair bit at a time.

Overall, I've been really disappointed with this product and would not recommend it. It's not all bad, my hair did feel nice to the touch after use, but since I don't have people queuing round the block to run their fingers through my hair, that's not really of any huge benefit to me! If you are looking for a good quality hair treatment in the same price range, I would recommend trying Alberto Balsam's Honey and Almond Intensive Conditioning treatment instead, which is fantastic and unlike this one, actually works! I just wish I had taken my own advice before wasting my time with this product!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A nice way to get some oils into your hair with minimal fuss

I was keen to try this product as I have been hearing a lot lately in magazines and online about how it is good to use natural oils (such as coconut oil or argan oil) on your hair to achieve some extra shine. I didn't really feel brave enough to use actual oils e.g. from my kitchen cupboard like some people do, as it can be messy, difficult and if I was putting oil straight onto my hair I would be worried about making my hair become too greasy. So, when I saw that Dove had brought out a new conditioner which includes an oil treatment I was very interested and thought it would be a good way to try these oils without any fuss. The Dove conditioning treatment has "conditioning nutri-oils". I am not actually sure which oils they are as it wasn't clearly stated that I could see.

I got a 50 ml trial sized tube of Dove Oil Care through the post after I ordered it from their Facebook page. I was impressed that they gave out such decent sized samples as it was enough for me to be able to use it for over two weeks. The packaging in a tube format with a flip top is simple and practical, much better than a screw top which can be easily dropped in the shower. The conditioner was very easy to squeeze out and control the quantity, so you get the right amount. I have seen full sized products in tubes identical to my trial sized one and it is not to be confused with the conditioner in slightly different packaging, which is a sturdier plastic, also standing on a flip top. The tube explains that the conditioning treatment is an oil treatment and conditioner all in one, and is suitable for daily use. It is designed to smooth the hair, reduce and prevent frizz and improve the condition of dry hair.

To use this product I squeeze about a 10p sized blob and rubbed it through my hair after shampooing, making sure it is evenly spread through my hair including the ends. I leave it on for 1 or 2 minutes and then rinse out, as with any other conditioner. The product looks different when you squeeze it out as it is white in colour with a stripe of yellowy gold through the middle, which is the oil treatment. It looks a bit like the inside of a Cadbury's Creme Egg in my opinion! It is not particularly fragranced and doesn't have the typical Dove smell. It smells like a typical shampoo or conditioner. Once it has been washed out of my hair, it leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth, and it does help to get rid of the tangles so my hair is very easy to comb through after using it.

Although it is suitable for daily use, I have not been using it every day as I have alternated it occasionally with other products, but I have used it for 3 or 4 days in a row. I was worried that this might end up leaving my hair greasy because of the oil, especially with regular use, but this didn't happen. It leaves my hair shiny and in good condition. However, the results were not as dramatic as I had hoped after hearing people rave about oils.

On the whole it is a nice conditioner and I think it does offer something a bit extra, as it is a good way to benefit from natural oils without any hassle or fuss. It costs £2.24 for 180 ml at Boots and although you can get cheaper conditioners I think the price is okay and I would be happy to buy another.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Not a product I will be buying again, which is a shame as I adore all other dove products :(

Dove Nourishing Oil Care Express Treatment Conditioner

I bought this product from Superdrug about two weeks ago as it was priced at £1.50! I love dove product, especially the original express treatment conditioner, I also love the famous dove scent. This conditioner looks great and from the bottle it sounds fairly amazing, but for me it was not.

            - About the product

This dove conditioner comes in a squeezy tube bottle which is great and it has quite a lot if information on the bottle concerning the conditioners claims and about the ingredients - the nourishing oils in this conditioner. The bottle I have contains 180ml of product and the bottle states 'instant deep nourishment smoothes even extra dry and frizzy hair.' This product also states that it has three times the nourishing power of a conditioner. I bought this product and I also received a 50ml sample tube from dove of this exact product too.

            - Using the product and results

Firstly when I used this product I was a bit surprised at the colour of the conditioner, as it is marbled, whereby two colours are swirled together. There is the original creamy white of the dove conditioner and there are yellow streaks running through the conditioner which must be the nourishing oils stated on the bottle. This looked quite odd at first but when I mix the product in my hands it turn into a yellow/gold colour, which is fairly unusual. The conditioner also does not have the famous dove scent that I love so much, which means that I already do not really like this product. The scent of this product is a bit like a salon/hairdresser smell but it also smells a bit like plastic to me. I take about a ten pence sized amount of product into my hands as my hair is fairly thick and really long now - my hair is also really quite dry naturally and because of hair dyes. I apply the conditioner to my hair as I normally would and it does not feel as conditioning as the intensive repair express treatment conditioner by dove (which is my favourite conditioner).

This product does not glide through my hair as well as other conditioners do and it also does not detangle my hair well - as I have to use even more product on the ends/mid lengths of my hair. The rinsing out of this product is easy and it does make my wet hair feel really quite smooth but overall and I am not impressed so far with this product. Once my hair is dry it feels really quite smooth and soft but my hair is really quite frizzy - it is as if I have not even used any conditioner while washing my hair, which is quite disappointing as I love dove products.

            - Price and availability

As stated previously I bought this product from Superdrug and it only cost £1.50 which I think is a fantastic price and this product can also be purchased from Superdrug stores and large supermarkets too.

            Conclusions

            Positives

*Easy to use and rinse out
            *Cheap and fairly widely available
*Makes my hair fairly smooth and about 60% detangled

            Negatives

*Does not have the original, gorgeous dove scent - it smells like a salon smell and it is a bit plastic smelling too
*The conditioner is not actually very conditioning - even though on the bottle it states to be 3 times more nourishing than a conditioner
*I have to use more than I normally would with other conditioners
*It makes my hair frizzy - or it does not condition my hair enough to stop the frizz

Thank you for reading my review
