      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not for me

I think its very rare if someone doesn't have an opinion about how their hair looks, its condition, what they are happy and unhappy about it. Its something most of us have and it's a necessary evil that we all try to look after our hair in one way or another. I purchased this product from an afro Caribbean store for £4.49 for a 266ml bottle.

      Why did I buy it?

I was looking for a shampoo that would give my hair a good clean and help get rid of dryness on my scalp.

      What is my hair type?

I am someone who you would probably say has a mixed heritage background- I have a very multi cultural background, but would classify my hair type as being typical afro Caribbean. Very small and tight curls, hair and scalp get dry very easily and quickly if its not regularly dressed with some form of oil or grease. Can be brittle and easy to break off. Shoulder length.

      How is it packaged?

It comes in a 266ml plastic bottle with a top that needs to be pressed in on the side to expose a hole so you can pour or squeeze product out. The bottle itself is a mint green colour and the label is mostly a creamy yellow colour.

On the front right at the top is the brand name 'Organic Root Stimulator. Directly underneath the product name which is ' Uplifting Shampoo ' and underneath that it tells you what the product is supposed to do.

On the back it lets you know what product is supposed to do and who its suitable for, ingredients, application, general warnings and company contact details.

It says product has a 12 month shelf life when opened.

      Ingredients
Aqua, Sodium Lauryl sulphate, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine Propniate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Lauramide DEA, Glycol Disterarte, Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamide-MES, Glycol Distearate, Laureth-10, Olealkonium Chloride, Disodium Dimethicone Copolyol, Menthol, Urtica Dioica ( Nettle ) extract, Equistum Arvense ( Horsetail ) extract, CapsicumAnnuum ( Paprika ) extract, Polyquaternium-10, Cetrimonium Cholride, DMDM Hydantion, Citric Acid, Fragrance ( Parfum ), Benzyl Salicylate, Cinnamic Alchol

What is this product supposed to do?

Its supposed to gently lift flakes and remove excess oil, conditions the hair and detangles it and is supposed to soothe and stimulate scalp. On the packaging it does say that this product is suitable for all hair textures.

      How to use

Apply a generous amount of the product to damp hair and work into a lather. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat shampoo, leaving on for 2 minutes to maximise treatment. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

      How do I find it?

The product itself is similar in colour to the actual bottle, a very pale mint green. Its texture is thick but fluid enough to use, and glossy, very shiny. The smell is very strong , very much like tea tree oil , which I like.

I find that once Ive wet my hair and I apply the product to it, it lathers up very well and there is a lot of lather! To be fair it does suggest to use a generous amount which I do. Very cooling on the scalp and gave a slight tingling effect ( not a reaction type tingling just a mild mint type effect! ).

It was easy enough to apply the product on my hair, but despite using the product as suggested and applying it twice, my hair looked clean but I could still see dry flakes in my hair that had come away from my scalp but not completely from my hair! In the end I had to wash it a further 2 times just to ensure it looked clean. Once I had done that, my hair felt and looked quite clean and shiny and a touch more manageable. I followed it up with a conditioning treatment.

Ive never experienced this with other shampoo product but when the product got into my eyes it stung like hell! Not very pleasant. So if your in a rush ( like me ), having screaming children running around the house throwing dolls in the toilet and your trying to wash this product out of your hair, please wear something over the eyes as you'll really feel it if its gets in that area! ( saying that in joke-but not a bad idea! ).

Would I buy again? Probably not. I hate washing my hair. I feel like I have to gear up to do it because its such a chore. Shampoo, conditioner, treatment, hair oil, blow dry etc. So whatever products Im using on it, has to be effective in its job, easy and quick to use just to make the whole process a lot less of a pain in the bum. Having to wash my hair 4 times to do the job it suggests it does on the packaging in 2 washes doesn't wash well with me!
