Advantages: rinses well
Disadvantages: can slips about, poor value, doesn't preserve your colour!
is this a crazy idea for shampoo, or what? I was unsure what to expect from it, and I'm still a bit confused now. I've been using it for over a month, and, since I bought 2 cans to start with, I am on the second can now. At the end of the first can I was surprised how quickly the can stopped working. when I shook the can there was obviously quite an amount of shampoo/foam left in there, but it just wouldn't come out - the gas had run out inside the container, so the last 1/4 of the shampoo was stuck in there without a propellant to release it! I also find it a mad method of dispensing the product. I mean, you are told explicitly to hold the can upright while you hold your palm in front of the nozzle to catch the mousse. As you would expect from this a lot of the foam ends up over the front and sides of the can, particularly when the gas starts to run a bit low. The nozzle does not turn to point down towards your palm at all which makes it all the more weird and messy, sometimes the can annoyingly slips out of my hand! Isn't that one of the worst things to happen when you're washing your hair?! When it's starting to run out of gas the shampoo becomes a lot runnier and the blooming thing just doesn't work for me!! Used every other day each can lasts about a month, which is ok, but I was persevering throughout the "Low gas" times as well, and I reckon other consumers might just throw the can out when the goin' gets tough! The mousse has a pleasantly sweet floral fragrance, although it doesn't last long in my hair after washing. In fact it's gone soon after my hair is dry. The mousse is nice and soft, but it takes a little practice to get it worked through your hair, and anticipating how much mousse you'll need for your hair. A bonus is that it rinses out easily and thoroughly since you are less likely to get big wads of shampoo like you do when using regular liquid types.
r>At £3.95 it is dearer than my usual purchases in the hair care arena. I have quite long hair, I need to keep it long so I can tie it back out of my face. It is so thick as to be unmanageable! Therefore long hair = lots of shampoo/conditioner to buy. I'm a bargain hound, as you'll know if you're read some of my other reviews. Anyway, I have died my hair in the past, and there are some bits of colour still in there from last time. But I must agree with the other reviewers, that it doesn't really prolong your colour. On a personal note I won't be buying this mousse shampoo again, and indeed neither will I be dying my hair again with all those nasty chemicals. I'm gonna try a henna from the body shop eventually. I'll let you know:).....

- 18/05/03 I think "slip sliding away" were the words of a song in the 70's, can't remember which. I used it as title coz it popped in my mind when the can kept slipping out of my hand, onto the bottom of the bath :) |
