Advantages: Soft, shiny hair, Doesn't weigh it down, Smells nice

Disadvantages: none really, perhaps the lack of essential oils in ingredients

Organics with essential oils hair spa shampoo and conditioner are for dry/damaged hair. They are presented in a green bottle with a conveniently hinged, flip-top lid. The shampoo and conditioner are said on the bottle to 'deeply nourish your hair, leaving it feeling revitalised, smooth and moisturised'. As a hairdresser, I am always quite cynical about these 'miracle' products that claim to do wonderful things for your hair; especially those backed up with pseudo-scientific ads on the TV. So I wouldn't usually have bought this product, but as it was 'Buy One Get One Free', I bought the shampoo for £2.19 and got the conditioner free.

~ ~ ~ ~ SMELL ~ ~ ~ ~

The shampoo smells fresh and slightly fruity with a hint of the soap coming through. Personally, I like the faint soapy scent, as I tend to associate it with clean and fresh hair. The conditioner smelled similar but a little tangier without the soapy scent. I liked the smell of both and wouldn't have bought it if it smelled at all dodgy!

~ ~ ~ ~ FEEL ~ ~ ~ ~

Using a small amount about the size of a ten pence piece in the palm of my hand, I was impressed with the feel and performance of the shampoo. Just that amount produced a lovely rich lather, which was plenty for my long hair. I only had to perform one shampoo; I think unless you haven't washed your hair for about three months, this would be enough for anyone! The shampoo rinsed out easily with non of the 'suddy' residue that some shampoos seem to leave behind until you've rinsed for about half an hour!

Likewise, the conditioner only required using a small amount, perhaps twice the amount of shampoo. My hair is very dry as over the years it has been subjected to much experimental abuse, but this conditioner didn't get 'eaten up' by my hair and as I smoothed it through the mid-lengths and ends of my hair, it de-tangled instantly. The conditioner also felt very
light on my hair and didn't feel as if it was weighing it down, even before rinsing. It rinsed out easily too.

~ ~ ~ ~ PERFORMANCE ~ ~ ~ ~

I was very impressed with the way my hair felt after using this product. My hair was easy to manage, feels silky smooth, soft and it shines for the first time in ages. It didn't weigh my hair down as some cream shampoos (shampoos for dry hair generally fall into this category) and conditioners tend to. Organics ads on the TV claim that Organics products penetrate the hair shaft in order to smooth follicles; I always pooh-poohed this idea because most chemicals that can do this generally have a damaging effect on the hair. For example, hair colours work by opening the cuticles of the hair wide enough to let in colour molecules into the hair cortex; the chemical they use to do this tend to be alkaline and as the hair and skin is acidic, drying. However as Organics do not seem to use the coating method like so many other products, you have to wonder if there is something in their claims. The coating method is what gives the hair its floppy feel after conditioning, it basically coats the hair to lock in moisture and keep out environmental factors such as sun, wind pollution etc.

~ ~ ~ ~ INGREDIENTS ~ ~ ~ ~

I was going to list all of the ingredients, but decided not to for the basic reason that they don't actually mean anything to most of us. Whilst I was at college learning to become a hairdresser, we did study the chemistry of shampoos etc, but even so, not much of it meant anything to me! Mind you, it was a long time ago now! The only ingredients I could make out were the basic soap ones and after a quick sweep and read of the other shampoos in my bathroom, there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of difference in the products. Interestingly, although the shampoo and conditioner are called 'Organics with essential oils', I could find no mention of any essential oils in the i
ngredients. Either it's a deep, dark secret or they don't actually use them in the products, which means they are misrepresented!

~ ~ ~ ~ CONCLUSION ~ ~ ~ ~

To sum up, organics shampoo and conditioner are great products, which leave your mop feeling and looking great. There is no hint of greasiness or heaviness and my hair, which usually tangle within minutes of brushing is tangle free most of the day, unless I have been outside in a gale-force wind. They smell pleasant, feel nice and leave you with a crowning glory to be proud of. I would recommend it to anyone with dry hair or anyone who colours/ perms their hair, especially if it's long. My hair is feeling and looking healthy for the first time in ages and has been transformed from a straw-like state to lovely, shiny hair with plenty of body and movement. I know I won't feel the 'urge to Herbal' after using this anyway!

I'll have to give it a try, but it's got it's work cut out trying to make something of my hair!

I just made the mistake of opting for a cheap own brand shampoo and conditioner from the supermarket and it's made my scalp itch. I'll have to give this a try.

By the way, sorry to hear about the shoes!!
